Three Rivers Veterinary Clinic Introduce
For pet owners across the Southern Illinois area, particularly those near West Salem, finding a veterinarian who balances medical professionalism with genuine compassion is paramount. **Three Rivers Veterinary Clinic**, located in West Salem, IL, is a long-standing fixture in the community, dedicated to providing health and wellness services for a variety of beloved animals. The clinic serves as a central point for routine check-ups, preventative medicine, and addressing various animal health concerns for local families.
The clinic’s reputation for compassionate care is a significant highlight, especially when dealing with sensitive pets. For instance, customers have reported that the staff is "so kind and caring with their patients." This is particularly noted in their approach to nervous animals, such as an older rescue dog named Bandit, who, despite being "really scared," was able to "calm down quickly as they start petting and talking to him." This gentle and patient handling is essential for reducing the anxiety associated with veterinary visits, making the experience better for both the pet and the owner.
Three Rivers Veterinary Clinic emphasizes the importance of a professional partnership with pet owners. They aim to be a trusted resource throughout a pet's life, from initial vaccinations to senior wellness. They understand that for many Illinois residents, a trip to the veterinarian requires careful planning, and they strive to manage their practice effectively to accommodate the needs of their clientele. This is evidenced by their policy of recommending appointments to ensure that the staff is prepared and dedicated time is set aside for each patient, optimizing the quality of care delivered.
However, potential clients should also note that some long-time customers have expressed recent concerns regarding administrative consistency and communication. Accounts of scheduling errors and missed notes on requested services highlight the importance of clear, diligent communication when booking and confirming appointments and specific procedures. While the core medical team is often highly praised, particularly for their care and friendliness, maintaining administrative accuracy is key for a seamless client experience, especially for pets with special needs, like those requiring sedation for reduced anxiety. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- This used to be a decent veterinary clinic. I’ve taken my pets here since I was a kid. I’ve went out of my way to continue going to this establishment even after moving, but it wouldn’t be worth it if they were next door anymore. I waited a month for a Saturday appointment @8:30 that I specifically asked for, and verified the date on twice before putting it into my notes. I show up for the appointment this morning and am told my appointment is for the coming up Wednesday in the afternoon. Either the receptionist working that day put it into the system wrong or they changed my appointment date without notifying me. This, on top of them forgetting to add services to my dogs’ appointments that I specifically ask for multiple times, and am told will be noted. Not to mention, the disregard for my pets health when I’ve brought up serious concerns, and am brushed off about the severity of an issue. It is just disappointing, because while I don’t mind waiting for an appointment that fits with my work schedule- I can’t afford them making mistakes with scheduling or the services I request. Not to mention because of her special needs my dog is usually sedated for her appointments to reduce her anxiety, so any unnecessary or failed vet trip- is extra stress on both her and I. I will be following my friends and family’s footsteps and taking my pets somewhere else, where they can get more professional care. July 12 · Cynthia Hurt

- First time visiting this vet clinic and very impressed. The receptionist and vet techs were very polite and informative. The ladies took the time, effort, and hassle to run the needed tests, even when my appointment lasted past their closing time. They even cleaned up my cat and her mess that she made in her carrier. Wonderful care and thank you so much. ❤️ February 20 · Ashley Paul
