TPLO Nashville Introduce
For dog owners across Tennessee, especially those in the Nashville area, the news of a torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL), often referred to as a dog's ACL tear, can be incredibly daunting. This common orthopedic injury can significantly impact a dog's mobility and quality of life, often necessitating specialized surgical intervention like Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO). In this critical field, TPLO Nashville, led by the highly respected board-certified veterinary surgeon Dr. Jeff Nunley, stands out as a premier resource for expert and compassionate care. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of what makes TPLO Nashville a truly invaluable service for local pet owners, detailing their specialized expertise, convenient mobile service, and the remarkable success stories shared by their clients.
TPLO Nashville was specifically created to provide precise and accurate information, along with exceptional surgical services, for dogs suffering from torn ACL/CCL injuries in Nashville and the surrounding areas. Unlike traditional clinics where you bring your pet for surgery, TPLO Nashville operates as a mobile surgical specialist service. This unique model allows their board-certified surgeons, primarily Dr. Jeff Nunley, to perform these complex orthopedic procedures directly at your trusted primary veterinarian's office, ensuring continuity of care in a familiar environment for your pet.
The effectiveness of TPLO Nashville's approach is vividly illustrated in glowing testimonials from grateful pet owners. One client shared the incredible recovery story of their eight-year-old dog, who, after undergoing two TPLO surgeries (one performed by Dr. Nunley and another by a different surgeon from the same team) within a few months, is now "running up to seven miles" on a bike. This incredible outcome underscores the success of the procedure and the expertise of the surgeons. Another client, having prior experience with TPLO surgery for another dog, praised Dr. Nunley's "top-notch" communication, small and clean incision, and the dog's 90% leg use by day three, ultimately stating, "I would never even consider using another doctor for this surgery. TPLO Nashville had exceeded my expectations!" These firsthand accounts emphasize the profound difference TPLO Nashville makes in the lives of pets and their families in Tennessee.

However, it's crucial for local Tennessee users to understand that TPLO Nashville operates as a mobile surgical specialty service. This mobile model significantly enhances accessibility for pet owners across Nashville and a wide surrounding service area in Tennessee, including towns like Murfreesboro, Franklin, Hendersonville, Smyrna, Antioch, Brentwood, Columbia, Donelson, Gallatin, Hermitage, La Vergne, Lebanon, Madison, and Mount Juliet. By bringing the specialized surgery to your trusted local vet, TPLO Nashville eliminates the need for you to travel to a dedicated specialty clinic far from home, simplifying logistics during what can be a stressful time. TPLO Nashville specializes in advanced orthopedic surgery for dogs, with a primary focus on Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) to treat cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) ruptures, often referred to as ACL tears in dogs. As a specialized mobile surgical service, their offerings are highly concentrated on this critical area of veterinary medicine:
- Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) Surgery: This is their core service. TPLO is a highly effective surgical procedure for stabilizing the knee joint after a cranial cruciate ligament rupture. It involves altering the angle of the top portion of the tibia (shin bone) to eliminate the need for the torn ligament, allowing the joint to function properly. They specialize in this procedure for dogs of various sizes and activity levels.
- Diagnosis and Consultation for CCL Injuries: While the surgery is performed at your vet's office, TPLO Nashville provides expert consultation and diagnostic interpretation to confirm the need for TPLO surgery and discuss the best course of action for your pet. They are dedicated to providing accurate information about the TPLO surgery.
- Pre-Surgery Communication and Preparation: They offer extensive communication with pet owners and their primary veterinarians before the surgery, explaining the procedure, potential outcomes, and preparation steps. Clients praise the "calls pre surgery" and clear explanations.
- Post-Surgery Follow-up and Support: TPLO Nashville maintains excellent communication post-surgery, with "several post surgery" calls to check up on the pet's recovery, explain what happened during the procedure, and provide guidance. While rehabilitation is often managed by the primary vet or a dedicated rehab facility, TPLO Nashville provides crucial support and insights into the recovery timeline.
- Mobile Surgical Service: As a mobile specialty practice, their surgeons travel to your general veterinary office to perform the TPLO procedure, offering unparalleled convenience.
- Addressing Related Orthopedic Concerns: While TPLO is their primary focus, as part of Tennessee Veterinary Surgical Specialists, they likely have expertise in a broader range of orthopedic conditions, though TPLO is their flagship offering.
TPLO Nashville, led by Dr. Jeff Nunley and the team from Tennessee Veterinary Surgical Specialists, offers several distinctive features and highlights that make them an exceptional choice for Tennessee pet owners facing a dog ACL injury:

- Mobile Surgical Service: The unique mobile model is a significant advantage. By bringing the surgeon to your local vet's office, they minimize stress for the pet (staying in a familiar environment), reduce logistical challenges for owners, and foster seamless collaboration with your primary care veterinarian.
- Exceptional Communication and Compassion: Client testimonials consistently highlight the outstanding communication from Dr. Nunley and his team. Pet owners appreciate the detailed explanations, pre and post-surgery check-up calls, and the genuine care shown. This level of personalized attention helps alleviate anxiety during a challenging time.
- Proven Success and Excellent Outcomes: The client reviews speak volumes about the successful outcomes, with dogs returning to high levels of activity, even running long distances, after surgery. The consistency in recovery timelines between different surgeons on their team also indicates a standardized high quality of care.
- Minimally Invasive Techniques: One review noted the incision was "small and extremely clean," suggesting a focus on precise surgical techniques that contribute to faster healing and less discomfort for the pet.
- Support for the Entire Recovery Journey: While TPLO Nashville focuses on the surgery, their clear communication and the availability of rehabilitation guides (as mentioned by a client) indicate a holistic approach to ensuring a successful recovery.
- Respected by Local Vets: The fact that pet owners are often "referred" by their primary vets to TPLO Nashville underscores the trust and respect that the local veterinary community has for Dr. Nunley and his team's specialized skills.

TPLO Nashville Reviews
Tplo nashville performed both of my dog's tplo surgeries at my vet's office. His second knee went out right as we were finishing the recovery period for the first one, so the surgeries were within a few months of each other. Now sitting at a year since the first one was repaired, my dog is running up to seven miles with me on my bike, as an eight year old. So it is safe to say the surgery was worth the money for me. I found a tplo rehab guide online to follow for the eight weeks and those exercises really helped. Plus lots walks to build him back up and a quality joint supplement.Dr Nunly performed one of the surgeries and a different surgeon performed the other but the recovery timeline for each knee was very similar and I could not tell any difference in the final outcomes.
Nov 21, 2022 · Summer ArrowoodLet me start by saying I have 2 dogs, and my one had both of hers done by another Dr. so I have something to compare this last surgery to. My 2nd dog had a partial tear, and I was advised to repair it sooner than later to avoid any potential arthritis. I reached out to the other Dr, and they were very short with me, and I just felt like a number, so I started searching for another person to perform the surgery. I found Dr. Nunley through a little research, and I am extremely happy that I did. From the moment I called, the communication was top notch. Calls pre surgery, and several post surgery. explaining what had happened, and also to just check up on her. The incision was small and extremely clean, and she was walking using that leg 90% by day 3. I would never even consider using another doctor for this surgery. TPLO Nashville had exceeded my expectations!

Jul 10, 2021 · Nancy SalernoMy dog just had a TPLO 12 weeks ago and I will be honest I was scared at first but Dr. Nunley and Dr. Goodin reassured me this was the best thing for Muffin. They were right, she is back to her normal self. She can run and play and no longer in pain. Thank you so much for make Muffin feel better.
Aug 12, 2019 · info infoBest surgery I’ve seen. But, since it’s a mobile service the communication can get lost.
