Choosing a veterinary practice is a decision that deeply impacts your pet's health and your peace of mind. VCA Appalachian Animal Hospital is a compelling choice for many reasons, as highlighted by our client feedback and our comprehensive approach to care. One satisfied client praises Dr. Cargile, stating she is "awesome," knowledgeable, and takes the time to listen to their concerns. The client also mentions that their dogs like her, which is a significant factor for any pet owner. This positive review further emphasizes the value of the hospital's wellness program, noting that it "has saved us money." This type of feedback highlights not only the quality of our medical care but also our commitment to providing accessible and cost-effective solutions for pet owners in Georgia.
While the positive feedback showcases our strengths, it is also important to consider all perspectives. Another client had a negative experience with Dr. Jana Cargile, expressing concern about a prescribed medication dosage and the professional demeanor. This review points out that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work for every pet, especially working animals unaccustomed to confined spaces. This feedback underscores the importance of open communication and finding a vet who is the right fit for your unique pet. We understand that every pet is an individual, and we work to tailor our care to their specific needs, though we recognize that sometimes miscommunications or differences in approach can occur.
What truly makes VCA Appalachian Animal Hospital a great choice is our dedication to a holistic model of care. We don't just treat illnesses; we focus on prevention, wellness, and long-term health. Our extensive list of services, from specialized treatments like orthopedic surgery and stem cell therapy to practical offerings like boarding and grooming, means that we can serve as your pet's healthcare hub for their entire life. We also offer an online pharmacy with free shipping, which adds a layer of convenience that is invaluable to busy pet owners. Our commitment to accessibility, as evidenced by our wheelchair-friendly facilities and gender-neutral restrooms, ensures that we are a welcoming place for everyone in the community.
Ultimately, our diverse range of services, coupled with a compassionate and professional team, makes us a reliable and trustworthy partner for pet owners in Georgia. The combination of comprehensive medical care, convenient amenities, and a commitment to inclusivity ensures that we provide a high standard of service for every patient and client. We believe that informed and engaged pet owners are the best advocates for their animals' health, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Our mission is to provide the best possible care for your pet, and we are confident that our expertise, resources, and compassionate approach will meet your expectations.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr. Cargile is awesome. She takes the time to hear the issue, our dogs like her, and she is knowledgeable. We have had a couple of bad experiences (with making appointments and a different vet). We signed up for their wellness program, and it has saved us money.
July 08 · Jennifer WilliamsI HIGHlY do not suggest this vet. The vet techs were great but Dr. Jana Cargile is sketchy and prescribed my 43 lb dog double the max of gabapentin in 12 hours vs 24 hours which has been known to paralyze and potentially kill dogs and cats. She was very unprofessional and didn't seem like she can do her job correctly. I feel as though she couldn't "handle" my dog and she wanted her dead. I can't imagine what would happen if I gave my baby that medication. I'm discussed. For a vet in the country they don't know how to handle working animals that aren't used to confined places and absolutely caused her more stress then she was already in as I have taken her to my local vet and she was fine was able to get the shots she needs no problem.
April 21 · Mallory CrabbWe’ve been to many vets with 7 dogs. Never one as slow as this one. We were left for literal hours in the waiting room with an appointment the first time. The second time 4 days later for a neuter appointment and they say we don’t have an appointment for our “quick drop off” so queue another long wait in the waiting room. Doctor called to say the dog is ready and guess what’s waiting for us. Oh yes, another afternoon of sitting waiting in their waiting room for another hour. Will never go back
April 22 · Charlie and Kristen HammacAs prices increase, customer service declines. We started using this veterinarian’s office because they will not board a pet unless they are patients, even with vaccination records from another vet. We have since found a nice boarding kennel and are happy to return to Ellijay Animal Hospital for our pet’s care.
May 21 · Jennifer GannawayVCA Appalachian Animal Hospital is extremely expensive. Costs for routine visits are very high and sick visits/procedures/treatments are outrageous.Jana Cargile is a horrible person. Not only did she refuse to listen to us regarding out dog's health issues, she was condescending, rude and went as far as yelling at me. Ridiculous. She has very strong opinions on pet care and refuses to hear any other suggestions or points of view. She suggested that our elderly and very ill dog had "stair anxiety".The only reason that we can give this practice 1 star is that David Roberson was both kind and understanding of our situation. He was gentle and compassionate with our dog. However we simply cannot recommend this practice.
