VCA Foxon Animal Hospital Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For pet owners across East Haven, Connecticut, and the surrounding vibrant communities, securing reliable and compassionate veterinary care is a top priority for the health and happiness of their cherished animal companions. VCA Foxon Animal Hospital, situated conveniently in East Haven, presents itself as an option for local pet healthcare, offering a range of services designed to meet diverse needs. While a facility's public perception can sometimes present a mixed picture, it's important for pet owners to weigh all available information to make an informed decision for their furry, feathered, or scaled family members. Customer experiences at VCA Foxon Animal Hospital, like with many service providers, can vary. One recent visitor expressed significant satisfaction, stating, "Today was my first time there and I’m so happy I went there. My dog Nina is a 6 years Golden-doodle so I chose the Care-club program and I only paid 73.00 instead 362.00 . Dr. Schmidt is an excellent vet, she explained everything to me and she has a lot of patience. The receptionist Amanda was very nice and the vet assistant too. The place is clean and no bad odors. They have air purifier in the dog’s exam rooms. 😃 I recommend this place!" This positive review highlights excellent service, valuable programs like CareClub, a clean environment, and the professional and patient demeanor of staff members like Dr. Schmidt and receptionist Amanda. It paints a picture of a welcoming and efficient first visit. Conversely, another long-term client shared a challenging experience involving recurring pneumonia in their dog, stating, "“Lazy” care at best but I’d go so far as to say neglectful. After being “treated” 2x for pneumonia at VCA Foxon, my dog came down with it a 3rd time... Doc at ER told me it keeps coming back because it wasn’t treated properly the first two times and he would have prescribed antibiotics for 6 weeks (vs the 2 weeks they gave him)." This review, while critical of a specific medical outcome and VCA's response to the complaint, underscores the importance of thorough treatment and communication. It is crucial for prospective clients in Connecticut to consider both sides of the spectrum when evaluating a veterinary hospital to ensure it aligns with their expectations for care and communication.

VCA Foxon Animal Hospital Reviews
“Lazy” care at best but I’d go so far as to say neglectful. After being “treated” 2x for pneumonia at VCA Foxon, my dog came down with it a 3rd time. Called them for an appointment and they told me that he needed to see a specialist but it was the weekend so I brought him to the ER. Doc at ER told me it keeps coming back because it wasn’t treated properly the first two times and he would have prescribed antibiotics for 6 weeks (vs the 2 weeks they gave him). At the new vet I switched him to they said the same thing. When I made a complaint to VCA they took no accountability and the medical director at VCA Foxon was extremely rude and condescending. Cared more about being right than the health of my dog. Told me she was “offended”. I had been going there for 6 years before this and didn’t have a bad experience but clearly they don’t know how to treat pneumonia and resulted in my dog having to stay overnight in the ER and a $4k bill.

Jan 10, 2025 · Menchi640I’ve been going here to Dr Smidt with my shih zu Lyla. Lyla is a little hard to get used to because she’s very protective of me . The Dr. found that if they take her in another room where she can’t see me she is much better. The dr also gave memedicine to calm her when going there and to her groomers. They all have so much patience with her and I really appreciate that. I would recommend this 100%
