When considering a veterinary care provider, it is crucial to look at the full picture, and Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital offers a compelling set of reasons to choose them. For Texas pet owners, the hospital’s primary value lies in its comprehensive service offerings. It is a place where a puppy can get its first vaccines and exams, and an older pet can get a complex surgery or ongoing care for a chronic condition, all under one roof. The public data and reviews suggest that while there may have been some initial customer service issues with front desk staff in the past, there has been a significant improvement, with current staff members, such as Dr. Castillo and David, receiving high praise for their genuine care, patience, and professional expertise. This personal touch and the ability to find answers to frustrating and complex health problems, like potential liver disease, is a major reason to choose this facility.
However, it is important for prospective clients to be proactive, as one review points out a communication issue regarding pricing and bundled services. A client felt they ended up paying more than they should have because they weren't fully informed about a bundle option and its pricing structure. This highlights the importance for pet owners to ask detailed questions about pricing and available deals upfront. By doing so, they can ensure they get the best value while still receiving excellent medical care. Ultimately, the worth of choosing Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital comes down to the quality of the medical staff and the broad range of services they offer. For pet owners in Texas seeking a facility that can handle both routine and complex health needs with a high level of expertise and compassion, Vetco Total Care is a strong option, as evidenced by the positive experiences of many clients who have found answers and relief for their beloved pets.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 15 stars for Dr.Castillo & David after a year of going to Vetco on West Grand. A year ago I was pessimistic. In the beginning the front desk didn’t know their own prices, were rude, dismissive, & on their phones (1 year ago).I couldn’t differentiate who had an issue between my 2 cats that shared litter boxes. Visits became expensive, testing both cats and exams piling up. On another occasion an old DR was condescending AND wrong. You can’t be both, but she was & rude. I don’t think she’s there anymore. This further added to my frustration at this practice, I became a Karen, whoops.BUT FAST FORWARD TO TODAY DR Castillo has had so much patience and care although I was a very concerned and difficult person at the time in frustration to the old employees. 10/10 Dr Castillo in finally figuring out my 2 Y/O cats potential liver disease and getting answers 🥲. She thoroughly explains and sounds like she cares. Her care seems genuine! Even if it’s not, it doesn’t matter, she’s really good at what she does. She also performed a stone removal surgery on my cat, he felt so much better after. Now onto seeing a specialist for his liver issues): . 10/10. Thanks for dealing with my frustration and sadness.
February 19 · Meagan DeannaWe had our first vet visit for Boba today at Katy location. She is 9 weeks old, I got her a week ago from a breeder.First of all, I was not informed that Vetco total care hospital offers a first free visit for new client. I just learned it now by looking at Petco website.Second of all, they gave me a bundle price of GET PUP for 8+ weeks old including Puppy Exam, Distemper & Parvo 5-in-1 Vaccine, Dewormer, and Fecal Parasite Testing. They said I can do either the bundle or any services separately. However, they did not give me the prices for each services if I want to do separate services. Therefore, I said we are getting an exam, vaccination, and fecal parasite testing for Boba. Also, Dr recommends to get TRIHEART pill for heartworm which I got. After everything, I ended up paying $208 which is more than paying for the bundle including everything. It’s a very bad customer service where staff doesn’t inform you about differences in price. Clients in general, and me personally end up paying more for vet visit but get less service.I could have paid less ($179 for bundle, $10 for heartworm pill, $6 for material paper) including everything with dewormer. Instead, I had to pay $208 in total. I wasn’t happy and satisfied with the service I got today.
March 17 · Sunny NguyenThis was my very time bringing my baby to Petco as we are new to the area. From the time I walked in, until the time I left was a phenomenal experience! I love the fact that EVERYONE wore a smile! I cannot say enough how amazing my tech, David was! He was beyond patient, very knowledgeable, gentle with my little guy who was very nervous. He took his time with me, explaining thoroughly every question I asked of him! I appreciate you, David! I can't forget about Dr. H! She was so thorough and knowledgeable during the exam and took the time to address all concerns. I'm so grateful for your kind and gentle spirit! I highly recommend this location; this entire team is excellent!!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
July 16 · Cedrina HamielDr. H is excellent after 2 visits with my little Cairo. He seems to love her. She is informative. Assistant Elizabeth professional and knowledgeable about my dog’s breed. Will continue coming to this location.
April 07 · Alethia GallienAbsolutely terrible experience with planning and organization. I had an appointment for 9:30am for vaccines. I arrive 5 minutes early and quickly get placed in a room (only positive thing - speedy entry). Then I wait in the room for OVER 1 HOUR. Zero touch points from anyone. No one checks in with updates. When I finally get fed up, I walk out and the reason was that they were "running behind" and I could get walked back to my room. I expect better from this organization. I'm a reasonable and patient man. Tell me that you're understaffed... have a complicated case... are behind schedule... TELL ME SOMETHING. Allow me to sympathize and decide if waiting longer is worth it or not.Severely under-impressed. Lacking respect for patients time. Please consider professionalism training.
