Vetco Vaccination Clinic Introduce
For pet owners in Connecticut, keeping our furry friends healthy and protected from preventable diseases is a top priority. Vaccinations are a cornerstone of responsible pet ownership, safeguarding our beloved companions and the wider community. When seeking affordable and accessible vaccination services, many locals turn to Vetco Vaccination Clinic, conveniently located within the Petco store in Glastonbury, CT. This clinic offers a specific range of preventative services designed to make essential pet healthcare more manageable for Connecticut families.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic at Petco focuses primarily on providing low-cost, routine preventative care, particularly vaccinations. Their model is built around making these crucial services accessible without the higher costs often associated with a full-service veterinary hospital. For pet parents looking to stay on top of their pet's core vaccinations, microchipping, and basic preventative treatments, Vetco offers a streamlined solution. While the experience might differ from a traditional veterinary office, the clinic aims to provide a vital service for keeping pets protected, ensuring that affordability doesn't have to mean compromising on essential health measures.
The Vetco Vaccination Clinic is situated at 13 Welles St, Glastonbury, CT 06033, USA, within the Petco store. This location offers convenience for residents in Glastonbury and surrounding Connecticut towns such as East Hartford, Manchester, Marlborough, and Portland. Being inside a popular pet supply store means that pet owners can combine their vaccination visit with shopping for food, toys, and other essentials, making it a time-efficient stop. Access to the clinic is generally straightforward, with ample parking typically available at the Petco location. However, it's important to note that the clinic operates on specific schedules, so checking their hours of operation online or by phone is crucial before visiting.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic specializes in preventative care services. While they do not provide comprehensive veterinary care for illnesses, injuries, or complex medical conditions, they are a valuable resource for fundamental health maintenance. Their primary offerings include:
Vaccinations: This is the core service offered, covering essential vaccines for dogs and cats. These typically include:
- For Dogs: Rabies, Distemper (DHPP, a combination vaccine protecting against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza), Bordetella (kennel cough), and Leptospirosis.
- For Cats: Rabies, Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia (FVRCP, a combination vaccine), and Feline Leukemia (FeLV) for at-risk cats.
Microchipping: A crucial service for pet safety, microchipping provides permanent identification that can greatly increase the chances of a lost pet being reunited with its owner.
Heartworm Prevention: They offer heartworm testing and preventative medications to protect dogs from this serious parasitic disease.
Flea and Tick Prevention: Various prescription and over-the-counter options for flea and tick control are available.
Deworming: Treatments for common intestinal parasites.
Basic Preventative Testing: Such as heartworm tests and fecal exams for parasites.
Nail Trims: A convenient service for routine grooming needs.
It's important to understand that Vetco Vaccination Clinics operate with a focus on efficiency and affordability. They do not typically offer full physical examinations for diagnosing complex illnesses, surgical procedures, dental care beyond basic check-ups, or emergency services. For any health concerns beyond routine preventative care, pet owners would need to consult a full-service veterinary hospital.
Vetco Vaccination Clinic offers distinct features that appeal to pet owners seeking specific types of care, though it's important to be aware of their operational model based on customer feedback:
Affordable Pricing: One of the most significant advantages is the low cost of vaccinations and other preventative services. This makes essential pet healthcare more accessible for budget-conscious families.
Convenient Location within Petco: Being located inside a Petco store allows pet owners to combine their vet visit with other pet-related errands, saving time and simplifying their day.
Focus on Core Preventative Care: For pets primarily needing routine vaccinations and parasite prevention, Vetco provides a dedicated and efficient service.
Generally Nice Veterinarians: While experiences can vary, some customers have praised the actual veterinarians for being knowledgeable, nice, and appearing competent in administering vaccines.
However, it's equally important for potential visitors to be aware of some common feedback:
Appointment System vs. First-Come, First-Serve: While online appointments can be scheduled, some customers report that the clinic often operates on a first-come, first-serve basis once you arrive, leading to potential wait times. It's advisable to factor in extra time for your visit.
Varying Staff Experiences: Customer reviews indicate a mixed experience with staff, from very welcoming store staff to sometimes abrupt or less compassionate clinic personnel. Communication regarding clinic policies, such as the requirement for cats to be in carriers (even if stated in fine print online), can be an area of concern for some visitors.
Potential for Stressful Environment for Pets: Due to the nature of a clinic held within a retail space, and the presence of multiple pets (both dogs and cats) in a waiting line, the environment can be stressful for some animals, especially those not accustomed to carriers or busy settings. The handling of pets during vaccinations has also been described as potentially "rough" by some, which is an important consideration for sensitive animals.
Limited Scope of Services: As a vaccination clinic, they are not equipped for in-depth medical evaluations or complex health issues. This means that if a pet shows any signs of illness during a vaccination visit, they may be referred to a full-service vet, which could add unexpected costs and inconvenience.

For pet owners in Glastonbury and surrounding areas of Connecticut who are primarily seeking affordable, routine vaccinations and essential preventative care, Vetco Vaccination Clinic at Petco offers a highly accessible option. Its suitability lies in its budget-friendly pricing and the convenience of its location within a popular pet supply store. For healthy pets needing their annual shots, microchipping, or basic parasite prevention, Vetco can be a practical solution that helps keep essential healthcare costs down.
However, it's crucial for local pet owners to understand the nature of this clinic. It is best suited for animals that are generally calm in new environments and do not require extensive veterinary examination or have complex health issues. While the veterinarians are generally seen as competent for the services provided, the clinic environment itself, with its potential for queues and a mix of animals, might be stressful for highly anxious or sensitive pets. Furthermore, the communication regarding policies like carrier requirements should be thoroughly reviewed by pet owners beforehand to avoid any potential misunderstandings.
In summary, if you are a Connecticut pet owner whose primary need is low-cost, routine vaccinations and you are comfortable with a more streamlined, "clinic-style" visit that prioritizes efficiency and affordability over individualized comprehensive examinations, Vetco Vaccination Clinic in Glastonbury can be a very suitable choice. It fulfills a specific and important niche in the local pet healthcare landscape, providing a valuable service for maintaining the basic health needs of our beloved companions.

Vetco Vaccination Clinic Reviews
I came here to get my cat cosmic creepers vaccination, her rabies vaccination. I go in the staff at the store. The Glastonbury, Connecticut location are very welcoming. I go to the back where they tell me the VETCO Vaccine clinic is. When I get there, I'm being almost yelled at that. My cat is not in a carrier. Mind you my cat is never in a carrier when I take her out and about two pet stores or to the vet unless my infant daughter is with me. they say it's on their website where it says cats have to be in the carrier when I left the store with my car. I looked at the website. There is nothing near stating it as seen in the picture. I posted with this review. It's in the email in small letters on the bottom shame on you for yelling at somebody for something they didn't see that was written in small letters because after she got her rabies shot, I was gonna buy cat litter, cat food, cat toys, and cat treats, but did I know I left the store I will go buy all of that at PetSmart. I circled in the photo where it says in the small letters that cats must be in carriers and dogs must be on leashes. My cat was in a harness. She had a leash on, and I had a really strong grip on her. She had no interest in climbing out of my arms.
Apr 13, 2025 · Beth SMade an appointment here for kitten vaccinations. I scheduled a time online but when you get there it’s really first come, first serve. The person checking us in was super nice but pretty slow, and we ended up behind a line of people. My kittens were probably seen 45 min after the scheduled appointment time and they were freaked out the whole time because other people were waiting in line with their cats and dogs too. The actual vet who saw my cats was really nice and she seemed to know what she was doing. Her helper who held down my cats for their vaccinations seemed kind of rough with them and I didn’t know if that was normal or not, but I wasn’t a fan. I think they received a decent level of care and it’s definitely the best price out there for kitten vaccinations but it’s just not set up in an efficient manner and once I’m done with the round of vaccinations I paid for, I probably wouldn’t come back again because it seems really stressful for my cats.
