Services Offered
Veterinary Dentistry & Oral Surgery of NM, LLC, provides a highly specialized range of services focused exclusively on advanced veterinary dental care and oral surgery for dogs and cats. These services often require specific training and equipment beyond that of a general veterinary practice:
- Comprehensive Oral Examinations & Consultations: Thorough evaluations of the oral cavity, including intraoral radiography (dental X-rays) to assess structures below the gumline. This is often the first step to diagnose underlying issues.
- Periodontics: Advanced treatment for periodontal disease (gum disease), including professional scaling and polishing, root planing, and advanced periodontal surgery to treat severe cases and save teeth where possible.
- Endodontics: Specialization in treating diseases of the dental pulp (the inside of the tooth). This includes root canal therapy to save fractured or otherwise damaged teeth, and vital pulp therapy for younger teeth.
- Orthodontics: Correction of malocclusions (improper bites) that cause pain, discomfort, or damage to other oral structures. This is typically for medical, not cosmetic, reasons.
- Oral Surgery: Complex extractions (including full mouth extractions when necessary), surgical removal of oral tumors (oncologic surgery), repair of jaw fractures, correction of palate defects (like cleft palates), and repair of oronasal fistulas (connections between the mouth and nasal cavity).
- Digital Dental Radiography (X-rays): Advanced imaging techniques specifically for teeth and jawbones, allowing for precise diagnosis of conditions invisible to the naked eye. They also offer tableside Cone Beam CT scans for even more detailed 3D imaging.
- Anesthesia & Pain Management: Administering safe, individualized anesthesia protocols tailored to each pet's health status, with continuous monitoring by skilled technicians. Comprehensive pain management plans are implemented before, during, and after procedures to ensure comfort.
- Restorative Dentistry: Procedures like fillings and crowns to restore damaged teeth, often after fractures or other trauma.
- Feline Dentistry: Special expertise in common feline oral conditions, such as Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions (FORLs) and stomatitis.
- Patient-Centric Care: Emphasis on treating all animals with loving care in every consultation and procedure, recognizing that dental procedures can be stressful.

Had a great experience here when my cat needed a full extraction of teeth a few years ago. They are so professional and thorough, my cat's surgery went really well, her quality of life has definitely improved, and they didn't charge me for the follow up visits after the surgery, which was so helpful after my pet insurance rejected my claim for the surgery. Dr. Littles & team are the best!
Jun 18, 2025 · Ellis WylieDr. Bannon and Dr. Littles are both amazing doctors! The team at VDOSNM is always professional, patient and kind! I have two senior kids and would not trust anyone else to do their dentals. Thank you to everyone at VDOSNM!
Feb 04, 2025 · Liz DavilaI cannot thank Dr. Littles, Dr. Bannon and staff enough for fixing my girl. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to fix an oral nasal fistula in my local area we were referred to Veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. Dr. Bannon did a phone consultation with me, since we live 4 hours away. Clear directions and a quote were sent to me. Pam is wonderful. The day of surgery Dr. Littles spoke with me and examined my girl. They stayed in touch all day, keeping me updated and even calling before surgery started to give me the official game plan which included a previously undetected issue. This saved her from needing yet another surgery. Outstanding service and care! Her incisions healed beautifully. My pup is a happy, playful girl again!
