When you are faced with a pet emergency, choosing the right hospital is a decision that can mean the difference between life and death. The reviews for Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) offer two very different but equally informative perspectives on the kind of care they provide. One client's experience was profoundly negative, highlighting a tragic outcome that stemmed from what they believed was a misdiagnosis and a lack of follow-through from an intern vet. This review underscores the reality that, like any medical practice, outcomes can vary and human error can occur. However, the client also noted that the medical director, Dr. Melanie Bowden, was "empathetic and competent," indicating that while there may be issues with individual providers, the leadership is responsive and professional. The other review, however, tells a glowing story of exceptional care. The client was met with a "compassionate & knowledgeable team" that made a stressful situation much more manageable. They praised the hospital's open-concept model, which allowed them to stay by their dog's side, something that is a core and unique feature of VEG. This is a game-changer for many pet owners, reducing their anxiety and allowing them to be an active part of the care process. The review also notes that prices are "very reasonable for the services provided" and that everything was "clearly explained," highlighting the hospital’s commitment to transparency. This positive experience showcases VEG's strengths: its compassionate and knowledgeable team, its innovative open-concept approach, and its transparent pricing. In addition to these points, VEG's ability to care for a wide range of animals, from birds and exotic pets to large animals, makes them a crucial and unique resource in the Washington area. Many vets do not have the expertise to handle these specialized cases, making VEG a lifeline for owners of non-traditional pets. The hospital's commitment to being an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safespace with gender-neutral restrooms also shows a dedication to creating a welcoming environment for all members of the community. While the negative review is a valid point of concern for any potential client, the positive feedback on the core philosophy and the hospital's unique features, combined with its specialized capabilities and 24/7 availability, make Veterinary Emergency Group a worthwhile choice for pet owners in Redmond seeking urgent and compassionate care for their pets.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Above and beyond what I expected for the care of my dog. What was a stressful event for me coming in, I was met with a compassionate & knowledgeable team that made me and Juneau feel much more at ease. While an open concept, they make rooms available as needed for privacy. Prices are very reasonable for the services provided and it was discussed and clearly explained throughout the process. I hope we don’t have to come back but highly recommend to anyone that needs their help.
August 08 · Kelsey BlackmoreI had a very poor experience with VEG. My dog was seen by an intern vet who got my dog’s X-ray mixed up with a cat and reassured me she was fine. Gave me no other information and delayed giving me prescriptions for her. I was told they didn’t have it in stock and I came back 3 days later for a written prescription they could have been able to give me day of. The doctor overseeing her never came and blew me off when I tried to ask questions. My dog got worse and died shortly later 😭I was distraught and called to speak to the medical director. Addy picked up the phone and she was nice, and she connected me with Dr. Melanie Bowden who seems empathetic and competent. Despite a reasonable conversation with the medical director, I believe management is only as strong as the providers and the quality of care delivered to patients on the floor.
August 23 · Mel TMy dog was given the best, most loving care possible. They examined my dog where he was the most comfortable, not where is was most convenient for staff. They got down on the floor to examine him and took their time so he could get used to them prior to touching him. I was able to be by his side the entire time except during x-rays (due to safety) and I was kept updated every step of the way. It highly recommend VEG!
August 05 · Jen MayoThe staff and care team at VEG are phenomenal! Both my dog Riggs and I were welcomed and cared for in a way that I had not experienced at a 24 hour vet previously. I highly recommend VEG for any urgent needs that your regular vet cannot accommodate or is not available for.
April 18 · Lacey PuhlElsie got bit by a bad dog at the dog park but we were able to be seen right away at VEG. They gave us a few options on care and felt they were very transparent with what Elsie needed along with the whole host of options. The team was great and we are very happy with the care. Special thanks to Doctors Painter and Barcenas 🙏❤️
