★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Always do a great job with my pet. Aggresive tiny Chihuahua and they were able to get his shots in and clip his nails with ZERO issues. They also helped my blind Husky who was attacked by vicious dogs and saved her life along with following up to remediate a possible infection to the wounds. The staff loves being there and always treats us with respect. If you were treated otherwise maybe you should look inwards towards your tone with people and dont look to receive free services anywhere. They were decently priced but any money paid towards a happy and healthy pet is worth their weight in gold.
March 20 · Rodrigo MirelesI’d like to praise and thank Dr. Geistert and her staff for the help and compassion they provided me in my most painful moments. Last week I had to make the hardest and most unexpected decision of my life. My beautiful best friend of 7 years started having breathing issues the night before. Thinking it was related to his asthma flaring up, I took him to Westbury not knowing it would be the last day I got to spend with him. Dr. Geistert told me they would put him in the Oxygen tank and give him steroid shots to help the breathing. She also told me the heavy breathing is probably due to his asthma, but it could also be congenital heart disease and if that was the case the steroid shots could make it worse. Never having been diagnosed with heart issues in the past, we agreed to move forward. 2 hours later I received a call with the worse news, he had reacted badly to the shots and his little heart was failing. They allowed me to sit in the back with him for literally hours as he struggled to breathe, but at least he wasn’t alone. The staff was nothing but supportive and Dr. Geistert met with me multiple times throughout the course of her busy schedule that day to talk to me about my options very compassionately. I was sobbing uncontrollably, and they understood. They never pressured me to make a decision and always gave me options but kept the prognostics real. The whole time they allowed me to stay with him in the back and I’ll forever be grateful for that. After hours of watching him struggle to breathe, I made the decision but asked if we could do it outside in the sunlight as that was always his favorite place. They accommodated that too and I’m very thankful he saw the outside and felt the sunlight one last time. They made my hardest day a little easier and I could not imagine going through that at a place where I’d be pressured to make a decision because of the time, questions, or space I was taking up, or the scene I was making. They were understanding every step of the way.
April 25 · David VasquezI took our new cat to Westbury Animal Hospital after he got sick and I saw a strand of nylon from his worm toy in it. Since I didn't know how much he'd ingested, I took him in. It was a long wait, but since he was acting normally we didn't mind waiting for them to take care of more critical animals. The performed an x-ray and, when it wasn't perfectly clear, asked us to go home, fast, and bring him back the next day. I was very pleased with the way they handled our case, as I wanted to be 100% confident that he was clear. Hopefully I never need urgently care for a cat again, but if I do, at least now I know where to go.
March 27 · Shannon MarieThey are the best! The Doctor and staff showed a lot of patience with my jittery elderly dog, and got him on the mend. I can’t say enough good things about Westbury Animal Hospital.
May 12 · Bert CasasReviewI brought my Belgian Malinois in early yesterday evening as she had been having a poor appetite and diarrhea. Check in was easy enough but my experience with was off-putting.My dog is normal friendly and well behaved but did bark at the vet. Im assuming it’s because she didn’t feel well. I did mention I was more than fine with them putting a muzzle on her, anxiety meds etc. The vet proceeds to say that it may be best for me to bring a sample in tomorrow. Now, the reason I’m paying a premium to be seen after hours is because I want to figure out what’s going on as soon as possible. It’s also hard for me to just miss work as I have patients with appointments that I can’t cancel on last minute. So, I went outside and walked up and down the street until we got a sample. Mind you, no temperature was taken. I feel like this is an essential step. It seems as though they just assumed my dog was aggressive and didn’t want to deal with her. I know they don’t know that but there are steps that can be taken to get her the care she needs.Things took a turn for the worse last night and she’s currently with her regular vet getting more tests. They are waiting on the fecal results and we have nothing yet. I called to find out and was met with “oh I’m not sure how long it will take, depends on where it is in line”. I’m surprised there is no in house lab as this is a very large animal hospital. That being said, the vet was very dismissive and seemed like she didn’t want to help. We have yet to get results on the fecal sample I had to collect myself. Urgent care with urgent care fees but zero urgency. I really did have high hopes as I have heard nothing but good things about Westbury. I’m disappointed at having lost time and money.
