Western Hills Pet Hospital Introduce
For pet families throughout the Omaha metro area, finding a veterinary partner that is dedicated, experienced, and convenient is paramount. Western Hills Pet Hospital, a locally owned, full-service veterinary clinic, has built a reputation on the core mission of keeping your dog and cat happy and healthy. Located centrally in Omaha, the practice is a trusted resource for a wide range of care, from essential preventive measures to complex surgical procedures.
The hospital's philosophy centers on the idea that pets are an important part of the family. The team, including dedicated veterinarians like Dr. Tiemann, Dr. Johnson, and Dr. Detter, strives to work collaboratively with pet owners to determine the best, personalized care plan for each individual animal. This approach emphasizes Wellness Care as the cornerstone of their practice, promoting twice-yearly exams due to the rapid aging of pets and their natural tendency to hide symptoms of illness or pain.
Western Hills Pet Hospital places a significant focus on early detection and comprehensive care across all life stages—from new Puppy and Kitten Plans to specialized Geriatric Pet Care and senior screening. The practice is equipped with modern diagnostic tools, allowing for rapid results on blood work and other necessary tests, which is crucial for starting treatment quickly. For major medical needs, they are capable of performing both Routine Surgeries and more complex procedures like Orthopedic Surgeries, all within a safe, sterile environment using advanced monitoring and anesthesia.
While the hospital is lauded by long-term clients for its engaging, caring staff and high-quality medicine, and is committed to being an advocate for your pet's health, prospective clients should note the strict adherence to their appointment scheduling policy. The practice operates on an appointment-required basis, and the promptness of care, particularly for non-scheduled or late arrivals, can be a point of friction for some clients, as reflected in certain experiences. The hospital's focus is on maintaining a controlled schedule to ensure that every patient who is seen receives the complete, dedicated time and care they need without rushing or compromising quality. It is strongly advised that clients call ahead to reschedule if delays are anticipated, or to discuss any urgent concerns, to allow the team to manage their flow and provide the highest level of service to all pets requiring attention.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- From 50 miles outside of Omaha, I drove to this clinic with a rescue dog who's teeth were so bad, he could barely eat because of the pain. I ran into construction in three different areas on my way that slowed my progress as traffic was narrowed to one lane. Not being familiar with the area, I made two wrong turns before finally arriving at the clinic. I'd called ahead letting them know I'd be a few minutes late. Upon walking in the door, the gal behind the counter looked at her watch & informed me that it was 12 minutes past my scheduled appointment time & she would need to ask the doctor if it was possible to still take look at the dog. She left, then returned to inform me that the doctor said I'd need to reschedule the appointment for another time. There wasn't anyone else in the facility waiting & only one other vehicle in the parking lot!I drove 50 miles! The dog was in pain & they wanted me to reschedule!Nobody with any compassion could do that.I left. I'll never go back & I'll tell everyone I'm able, to find another veterinarian who has understanding, compassion, & truly cares about people & pets. July 03 · Peggy Jorgensen
- I've been going to this vet for years, both dog and cat. Lovely staff that are engaging and truly care about your pets. March 30 · Jake Uryasz
- We love this office! Kind and compassionate care for all our critters from every provider we have seen. We love knowing they are in good hands no matter what they need. July 03 · Elena Whidden
- Dr. Johnson took really great care of my senior kitty. She needed a teeth cleaning and several teeth pulled. I was very worried about her going under anesthesia but everyone was very reassuring to me and the whole process was very quick. Even though we are new patients to the hospital they were very quick at getting us in for dental surgery which I really appreciate. Definitely recommend their services. October 18 · Nicole Conway
