This indicates that the clinic fosters a team environment where each role contributes to the overall client and patient experience.
- Perceived as "The Best in Town" by Some Clients: Despite challenges (as noted in another review), at least one long-term client strongly believes they are "the best in town," signifying deep trust and satisfaction from certain segments of the client base.

For locals in Maryland, specifically within the Frederick area, Yellow Springs Veterinary Clinic presents itself as a local option for veterinary care with a complex set of user experiences. On one hand, the clinic clearly has a dedicated clientele who highly value the team, from the front desk staff and vet techs to the veterinarians, describing them as "the best in town" for their efficiency, friendliness, and knowledge. For pet owners with multiple animals, including seniors and puppies, the clinic appears to be capable of handling diverse needs, providing comprehensive care and a sense of appreciation to their long-term clients. This positive feedback highlights a strong, positive relationship built on trust and consistent care for some pet families.
However, it is crucial for prospective Maryland clients to be aware of the highly concerning negative review, which describes a severe decline in quality of care and a distressing lack of empathy following a change in veterinarians. The incident involving a cat’s unexpected neurological symptoms, subsequent passing, and the mishandling of cremation ashes, compounded by a complete lack of acknowledgement or condolences from staff, represents a significant breach of trust and a deeply negative experience. This review points to serious issues regarding patient safety, communication, and compassionate client relations.
Therefore, while some local users in Maryland may find Yellow Springs Veterinary Clinic suitable due to positive personal experiences and the clinic’s capacity to handle multiple pets, new clients or those seeking a new provider should exercise caution. It is advisable to conduct thorough research, perhaps seek recent testimonials beyond those provided, and potentially discuss specific concerns with the clinic directly during an initial inquiry. The clinic's suitability ultimately depends on an individual's priority between the reported excellent care for established clients versus the serious red flags raised by the negative experience concerning a pet’s health outcome and the subsequent client interaction.

Yellow Springs Veterinary Clinic Reviews
Ever since Dr. Ruppert left, the quality of care has gone sharply downhill. We brought our cat in for a routine dental cleaning and possible tooth extraction. He was completely normal and healthy when I dropped him off. Later that morning, I received a call around 11 a.m. telling me to come pick him up—they couldn’t proceed with the procedure due to “neurological symptoms.”When I arrived, I was horrified. Our cat could barely walk and was crying in distress. Something clearly happened behind those closed doors, and to this day, I truly wonder what. Tragically, he passed away just a month later. We opted for cremation and were told it would take no more than 10 days. Not only did they fail to notify us when his ashes were ready, but they left him sitting there for three weeks—until we called to follow up.To make matters worse, when we finally came in to pick up his ashes, not a single staff member acknowledged us. No condolences, no empathy—just silence. The only kindness we received was from other clients in the waiting room.We have two other cats, but we will never return. You have lost our trust, our business, and any future recommendations.
Apr 30, 2025 · rachel reneeI’m pretty much here all day everyday since I own four cats and two dogs. 50% of them are seniors and then I have a bouncing beagle puppy. I can attest that they are the best in town. From the friendly and efficient front desk staff, the amazing vet techs, and the sharp and well educated veterinarians. There is no other clinic like them. Thanks for always taking care of us. We appreciate you so much! 🩷
Apr 13, 2025 · Donna RaihlUPDATE: Dr. Olmstead is wonderful too. This vet clinic is top notch.Yellow Springs is an excellent veterinary clinic! I have all my pets,, 2 dogs and a cat, going there regularly for checkups and vaxxes, and I got my puppy spayed at Yellow Springs. We see Dr. Mara and Dr. Bernard. Jan 26, 2025 · James Wood, Jr.Sadly I had to euthanize my beloved cat, Sweetie. I can't say enough good things about YSVC, especially Dr Olmstead and the tech, whose name I don't remember.I know I seemed like a blubbering idiot by crying so much, but they understood. They both were compassionate, caring, understanding and never pressured me to do anything other than support my decision. When I left, candles were burning to show that one of their patients had passed. What a lovely thing to do.Thank you Dr Olmstead and your tech for taking such good care of Sweetie and her mommy. Your kindness and caring will not be forgotten❤️Cherry Graziosi
