Thrive Pet Healthcare - Frederick Reviews
Best care team around! I am so grateful to have found Dr. Skirvin and the team at Thrive. Everyone from start to finish is so pleasant and caring at every visit with my fur babies. Kerry is our favorite tech she is so empathetic and truly cares about any concerns being discussed for the pets.
Apr 30, 2025 · Julieanne RyanThey wanted to charge me $50 for a glucose test when an entire blood glucose machine kit (with 50 strips & everything) is $20. My mother was diabetic. My sister is diabetic. I told them I have done them at home but they said no we have to do it in house- It’s a pinprick & a 5 second test on a drop of blood. $50 for a test strip that cost 20 cents max is insane. They also wanted to charge me $380 for a blood panel so I called another local vet who said he could do a blood panel for $190. I should have just left then and there but they kept pressuring me so I got the urinalysis just so I could verify that the other urinalysis tests I had done were also accurate & matched this vet’s reading- which they were. So they charged me $130 to dip a stick in pee & compare it to a color chart. The other vet does that for $75 & I had already done for my dog several times & their results were the exact same as mine so they literally charged me $130 just to tell me what I told them when I walked in.Also the doctor has terrible bedside manner and seems like she doesn’t like dogs. Idk maybe she’s a cat person but I’ve never seen my sweet Labrador so terrified. He peed all over himself as she was yanking him by his collar super hard and she seemed super irritated while she said “oh great he’s peeing all over the place” then they struggled to find a towel to dry it up- which how do you not have towels? The floor was wet anyway because it was raining and his paws were wet so he kept slipping all over the place & even did the splits once and she just shrugged it off and said “he slipped” I said “I know.. but he’s 8 years old- he could really hurt himself, is there another towel or something I could use to dry the water so he won’t slip? He’s never been so scared he’s peed on himself at any other vet & he’s 8 years old- he’s been to many vets. He’s always been great at the vet. I’m only giving it 2 stars because the vet tech was very sweet & seemed like she cared. The doctor however was callous, dismissive & talked down to me like I had no idea what I was talking about. Only to end up telling me exactly what I told her when I walked in. Never again.
Jun 18, 2025 · CdRo19My family and I had an amazing experience here. From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us and our beloved German Shepherd, Luna, with the utmost care, kindness, and respect. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to her, but I will never forget how compassionate and supportive everyone was during such a difficult time. They did everything they could for her, and it meant the world to us. I am beyond grateful for the love and professionalism they showed. I 100% recommend bringing your fur babies here, they will be in the best hands.
