Garden State Pet Center Reviews
Looks like an abuse situation for almost all animals involved in this store. All rodents are in small cages that aren't cleaned and have no food or toys inside. Birds are cramped in small cages too with variety of breeds (dangerous). Asked about their rats bc reviews and web said they had some, but they didnt, and honestly had no idea what to look for. They didnt know what a rat looked like. I asked for hide aways, hammocks, food, etc. for rats since they didnt have any but had plenty of ferrets, once again 0 knowledge on anything I had brought up. They said rats didnt need any of that and I was spoiling them, but rats DO need hide aways at the very least. Left there in tears, I couldnt believe how horrible this business is. I cant wait for it to shut down and for all the animals to go to shelters or loving homes. They'd be better in the wild atp. I feel so bad for the skunk they have cooped up there too.Edit they said I'm posting for the wrong store but thats simply not true 😭 images as proof. They claim I came into the store and debated with staff and had a negative attitude, when I never made a purchase nor shared my name. They cant continue to call these reviews false while coming up with new excuses every time a negative review is updated or posted. First they said rodents weren't on the sales floor at all, now they're saying they're checked in on regularly. I asked an older woman there for information about rats and was asked why id want "one of those things" before she explained she had little knowledge on rats pointed at a rabbit and asked if they were what I was looking for. Im not here to "slander" or "cause harm on a companies image", I'm here to save people and animals from bad business. Doesn't matter when I came in (March/2025, extremely recent in terms of business), if your business ever looked like this then thats a major issue. If you handled these issues Id be seeing a major overhaul, but your business hasn't changed at all. Stop attacking reviewers instead of taking care of your animals. Maybe learn some customer service skills while you're at it too.

Jun 16, 2025 · Miss Pattie SI met several birds that were hand-weaned by Nick. All of them were clearly good citizens and had been set up for a peaceful, happy life due to being handled gently as a chick and having known only kindness. I purchased two cockatiels that I named Android 16 and LT Surge, and am very pleased with how healthy and friendly they both are. I hope to have them for the next 20 years. 10/10 would recommend.
Dec 17, 2024 · Stacie AndersonDo NOT recommend purchasing living beings at this place. They fortunately have a bunch of pet supplies, however, our chinchilla came back home with serious diarrhea & watery green stools, in which the store guaranteed wasn’t from him. (We should’ve known in the first place due to cruel environment) After the vet, chinchilla was diagnosed with GIARDIA & respiratory infections. And for GODS SAKE tell me why SHE is a GIRL, after the yall reassured us it’s a MALE chin. I want siblings not husband and wife chins. Sickness & Wrong gender is 100% complete NONO. Medical bills should never be on innocent victims just bc they are responsible humans. So PLEASE be more professional and responsible to customers and these creatures in the future.
Jun 15, 2025 · minde xuanCame here yesterday with a friend, do not recommend. The staff are actually quite great! No issues there. However, the cages that the birds are kept in are far, far too small. I saw on another review they mentioned meeting USDA standards, however as someone who has read those standards thoroughly I can say they are still not enough for a bird. Any vet will tell you you need far, far more space for a bird than the tiny cages that the USDA have approved. The same goes for rodents, though I did not look at the rodents in my visit so I will not speak on that.Just based on how the birds are treated, I suggest avoiding here. Birds are expensive, and spending hundreds on a bird that's going to have severe anxiety from remaining in a small enclosure (often with an entire other bird!!) is not something I would say is worth it.
