Petco Reviews
Good selection however reptiles are not being properly cared for. Low humidity, wrong type of substrate, not enough hides. I let the teenager working know but I don’t think she’s going to do anything about it. Proper animal husbandry can be learned online and there should be no excuse for a large pet retailer. Do better please.
Apr 21, 2025 · Jacob Harward@Petco — Today my husband and I had a truly disappointing experience at your Livermore, CA store. We went to purchase a koi fish, as we were advised to do by your San Ramon location (where we previously purchased one without issue). After selecting a fish, we were told by a Livermore associate that because our tank is 30 gallons, they would not sell it to us, claiming koi require 60 gallons. We explained that we currently house small goldfish and a baby koi, and that San Ramon staff had no concerns about our setup. In fact, your website only recommends 29 gallons—nowhere does it state 60 gallons is a requirement. Nor was there any sign or posted policy in the store. We asked to speak to the manager, Debra Peck, who was dismissive, condescending, and flat-out rude. She interrupted us, refused to provide her name in writing, and ended the conversation by saying, “this is going in circles” before walking away. We were stunned. To make matters worse, your website allows koi fish to be shipped directly to homes with no verification of tank size or stated requirements. If this isn’t discrimination, then what is?We’ve been loyal Petco customers for years and have never been treated this poorly. This experience was unacceptable and we ask that you look into this, clarify your policy, and address the serious customer service issues at your Livermore location.#Petco #CustomerService #PetcoComplaint #DoBetter
Jun 22, 2025 · Joseph RodriguesThey were not busy at all. I seen 2 or 3 employees around the store, yet no one offered assistance even when I had to lift a 40lb bag of cat litter from floor to cart- I'm 63 years old so it's not an easy task any more ! There was very little room to shop with a cart and piles of inventory that needed to be put away. The only good thing was the cashier was very friendly and had answered questions based on her having cats.
Feb 06, 2025 · Teresa Rodriguez WilsonI come here when ever possible. It's a pet friendly environment which is so important for me. My hat is tipped to an incredible costumer service, All and all it's quality from top to bottom and all around. Good job Petco
Feb 02, 2025 · Carrie Barbara**update as of march 2, 2025. Unfortunately my opinion hasn't changed the store is fine but they care for the animals is still not. Today A man was waiting for over 10 minutes to get his dog from grooming because all of the groomers left. This is against policy and pretty sure it should be illegal because absolutely no one is watching a room full of kennel to dogs. There are a million things that could go wrong and if it did no one is there to help them, let alone the fact that this guy had to wait forever to get his dog back. This ended with the manager being called to retrieve the dog because the employees could not find the groomersIf it was just based off the fish it would get one star. Every time I purchased a plant or fish or live food from this location my tank seem to get sick or a fish would die and after a while the only coincidence was that it came from the tanks at Petco. So I decided to run a test and I purchased two shrimp ran a tank like normal with just plants and shrimp from this store and the whole tank became infected. No that the photo seems extreme because I let this tank run for about two and a half to three weeks without doing a water change to see how bad it got after being introduced to two shrimp from Petco. Keep in mind this was a perfectly pristine tank prior to adding the shrimp*editIf you are going to buy fish to start a tank that is probably fine because you can treat all of them but adding them to existing tank may infect your existing fish
