Alameda Pet Hospital Reviews
The vets, vet techs and management are caring and professional. But front desk staff need work. I’m posting only so no one else has to go through what I did. Have been going for almost 3 years but made the difficult decision to leave to another vet due to too many unpleasant incidents with front desk staff. They first mishandled a report I needed urgently. The manager helped solve that after I escalated it. Front desk staff send abrupt emails without greetings or sign offs as though they are texting with a friend not emailing a customer. Secondly a front desk employee, Jose, took a reprimanding tone with me on the phone when I received mixed messages from them about an urgent appointment time. Again the manager overruled the front desk employee in and saw to it that my sick pet would be attended to. While in the waiting room the front desk employee would not interact with me, but when I stood at reception to speak to other employees Jose would make a point to close the door next to where I was standing. This was done on more than two occasions even though I made no attempt to walk through the door. Finally we saw the vet, I paid and left. After getting into the uber I realized I had not been given the medication my pet needs to urgently. It was 6pm on a Friday and the team was locking up when I left. I was worried they’d be gone for The Weeknd and my sick pet would be untreated. I convinced the uber driver (who didn’t speak English, so I had to use google translate) to go back to the pickup location. When I arrived and explained Jose was not helpful and had no sense of urgency when I explained I had an uber waiting instead he was officious and asked me “what medication?” once again he tried to close the door in my face. I made no attempt to enter the premises. I suppose this was a power play. A vet tech brought me the medication and apologized for not giving it to me earlier. I asked her what is the other employees name and from inside I heard Jose cheerfully shout: “Jose!”Since he was so forthright about his name I am including it and his behavior in this review. I am sad to leave but I’ve lost confidence in this teams ability to communicate, schedule and treat people with professionalism and customer care. Both the vets and manager have been in contact with me and are addressing this incident. I hope they find staff who are consistent with their level of care. I’m posting only so no one else has to go through what I did. I really hope the team can find a way to address and improve their front desk interactions.
Jul 01, 2025 · Sabina FernandezGreat small, simple , independently owned general practice veterinary hospital. After years of working relief here and having my own animals seen here, I would say they are definitely a unicorn practice.
Jun 22, 2025 · Melinda Rthis was years ago, when i lived in alameda, but my first two cats were patients there, and i always appreciated the staff, their compassion for the critters AND people, and i even liked the space itself! easy to get to, modern, clean, with fun stuff around to check out.then i adopted a kitten that ended up very sick, and had to get to the vet on the same day as i was to attend a funeral. the hospital did their best, but he didnt make it. they kindly took care of him safely until i was able to return, i think the next day. i dont know if its standard practice, but my previous and current vet would never have done that, and i will always be appreciative of their services.if i still lived there, they would certainly be my vet hospital of choice.[pics are of my girls, thisbe and cassie, theyve gone a long time, but i cant pass up an appropriate opportunity to show them off, still.]
May 16, 2023 · Dona QuixoteHad to schedule dental procedures for my 7 year old fur baby after dreading it for the last year but seeing a big decrease in eating and a change in Behavior it was definitely needed. Alameda Pet Hospital was great, they were very upfront about procedure and cost and kept the total price with in the original estimate. They even called the next day to check on Tucker post-op. I would highly recommend them for any Veterinary needs, we have been going with them for years and have never been disappointed. There covid-19 compliance is great and I never once felt sad for leaving my pet even though I couldn't take him in to the building and I had to wait in the car when it came time to pick him up
Apr 15, 2021 · Michelle RobbinsWhile in California, Kona is well taken care of here. The staff and doctors are all nice and caring. Not Kona's favorite place for obvious reasons but certainly a place his family trusts!!! As a professional in human health care, both Drs Harris and Wagner and their team deserves 5 stars!
