Animal Endocrine Clinic Introduce
When your beloved cat or dog is diagnosed with a complex hormonal disorder, the need for specialized, expert care becomes paramount. Unlike general veterinary practices that handle a broad range of health issues, a specialty clinic focuses on a specific area of medicine, offering a level of expertise and advanced treatment options that can make a profound difference in your pet's life. For pet owners in New York City and beyond, the Animal Endocrine Clinic stands out as a leading destination for the diagnosis and management of endocrine diseases.
This article provides an in-depth look at the Animal Endocrine Clinic, a veterinary practice dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care for animals with hormonal imbalances. Located in Manhattan, the clinic has built a reputation not only for its cutting-edge medical services but also for its compassionate and thorough approach to patient care. The clinic’s specialization means that its team, from the veterinarians to the support staff, possesses a deep and focused understanding of conditions like hyperthyroidism, diabetes, and Cushing's disease, enabling them to offer the most effective and up-to-date treatments available.
The exceptional care provided by the Animal Endocrine Clinic is a recurring theme in testimonials from grateful clients. One owner, whose 12-year-old cat was cured of hyperthyroidism through the clinic’s expert I-131 treatment, expressed being "beyond grateful" for the "miraculous" results. They emphasized the compassionate and thorough nature of the staff, noting how they were kept informed at every stage of the process. Another pet owner praised Dr. Peterson as "the most wonderful doctor," detailing how he "thoroughly answered all questions" and provided a sense of security during an emotional time. They also highlighted the twice-daily updates and live webcam access, which offered immense peace of mind while their cat was in the clinic's care. These stories of trust, communication, and successful outcomes are a testament to the clinic’s commitment to providing an unparalleled level of specialized veterinary care.
A key figure at the clinic is Dr. Mark E. Peterson, who is widely recognized as a foremost expert in feline and canine endocrinology. His biography notes that he was the first veterinarian to document hyperthyroidism in cats in 1979 and the first to treat it with radioiodine in 1980. This extensive experience and pioneering work in the field mean that pet owners can be confident they are entrusting their animals to a true authority. The clinic's specialized focus, led by such a distinguished professional, allows for a level of precision and expertise that is rare to find. For a pet owner, this can translate to a quicker, more accurate diagnosis and a more effective treatment plan, which is vital for managing chronic conditions that can significantly impact a pet's quality of life.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A Heartfelt Thank You to the Animal Endocrine Clinic & Dr. Peterson for Saving Our Cat’s Life!We are beyond grateful for the incredible care our 12-year-old cat received at the Animal Endocrine Clinic! Our sweet girl was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, and thanks to Dr. Peterson’s expert I-131 treatment, she has not only been cured but is now back to her playful, happy self. It's truly miraculous to see her with so much energy again, as if she’s returned to her younger days.Often, when things go right in the veterinary world, we forget to leave a review. But the amazing care and results we experienced deserve to be shared. The staff at the clinic was compassionate, thorough, and kept us informed at every step of the process. Dr. Peterson's knowledge and the clinic's cutting-edge treatment saved our kitty’s life, and we couldn’t be more grateful. If you have a pet struggling with hyperthyroidism, I-131 treatment is a life-saving option, and there is no better place for it than the Animal Endocrine Clinic. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for giving us more time with our beloved girl.
October 05 · Adam ButterfieldAbove and beyond. This is the place to go when your cat has hyperthyroidism. Dr Peterson is the most wonderful doctor - he throughly answered all questions and was so understanding when I was hesitant and tearful about leaving my baby there. I must also mention he literally discovered hyperthyroidism in cats in 1979 so he is THE foremost expert. The employees (Sophie, Keara, Xiang!!) are all excellent caregivers, and I felt secure leaving my baby in their capable hands. I received updates twice a day and had access to a live webcam to check on my cat while he was in their facility. A+++++ care, service and everything else. They are the best of the best and I’ so grateful for their expertise and professionalism.
January 27 · Aimee GordonI loved everything about this place. Dr. Peterson and staff kept me in the loop every step of the way with phone calls, emails and photos every day. The clinic is immaculately clean and with only six cats in the clinic at one time, each cat gets plenty of individual care. I highly recommend Animal Endocrine Clinic to folks who have cats with hypothyroidism.
October 19 · Kathleen O'BoyleUPDATE 2021- my cat had a recurrence of hyperthyroidism after being treated at this place in 2018 and died within 3 months of being treated by this doctor for the second time. A few days shortly after he was treated the second time I could sense something was wrong with my cat — I reached out to the facility to see if I could speak to the doctor and was not provided with ANY help. They recently reached out to me again via email for a “yearly checkup” to see how my cat was, unaware that he had passed. When I informed them my cat passed away 3 months after treatment they fell silent. No condolences, nothing. They were very helpful before and during treatment, but once they had my money all of that helpfulness seemed to go away.
September 18 · Nicole PellecchiaI contacted this vet hospital via email. I live in another state and I desperately needed some help/guidance with my dog. I sent the them a long email detailing my dog’s medical struggles and how I really need Dr Peterson to read the email or I would pay for a video appointment second opinion with him or a name of other vets or vets in the surrounding states closer to my state. After pouring my heart out in this email, I receive this:“Dr. Peterson is currently limiting his practice to the treatment of thyroid disease in cats and dogs, with a primary focus on the proper treatment of feline hyperthyroidism.“Very cold response. Unprofessional, no signature, no nothing. Their website is extremely misleading if this is in fact true. They didn’t give me any recommendations or help in any way. Guarantee the doctor didn’t read it. You would think vets and vet offices would have more compassion for a dog that is deeply struggling.I emailed this mystery person back and they tell me:“We would recommend contacting your local vet school.”Really? You don’t think if I am emailing someone on the other side of the country I haven’t done that already? I’m emailing you because Dr Peterson is supposed to be the “best” he is supposed to be that doctor who knows Endocrine Diseases and helps people. There is no way that this doctor doesn’t know other vets in his field in any other part of the United States.I thought this was the answer. I thought this vet would have the compassion and kindness I needed. I would have paid a great deal for a 30 minute video chat and I am not a person with the means to do so. I emailed this practice out of desperation and I am beyond disappointed in the response I received. No empathy, no compassion and no help. I would never take my dog to a vet office that shows no sign of caring or willingness to even provide an alternate name. Unbelievable. Disappointed doesn’t even begin to express how I am feeling right now.
