Let's take a closer look at what they offer and how they integrate into the local pet care landscape.
Animed Pet Hospital is conveniently situated at 592 Providence Hwy, Dedham, MA 02026, USA. This location on Providence Highway, also known as Route 1, makes it highly accessible for residents not only in Dedham but also from neighboring towns and communities throughout Greater Boston and Eastern Massachusetts. Route 1 is a major thoroughfare, ensuring straightforward travel whether you're coming from Boston, Norwood, Westwood, or other surrounding areas.
The hospital's position on a main road means it's generally easy to find, with visible signage. For those driving, the location typically offers ample parking, which is a significant convenience, especially when transporting pets who may be anxious or unwell. The ease of access helps reduce stress for both pets and their owners during visits, whether it's for a routine check-up or an urgent concern. Animed Pet Hospital provides a range of veterinary services designed to address the diverse health needs of your beloved companions. While the specific details of every service are not exhaustively provided in the reviews, a general practice veterinary hospital like Animed typically offers the following core services:
Routine Wellness Exams: Essential for preventive care, these exams include a thorough physical assessment, weight check, and discussions about nutrition, behavior, and age-appropriate care. Regular check-ups help catch potential health issues early.
Vaccinations: Protecting pets from common and dangerous diseases, Animed Pet Hospital would offer core vaccinations (e.g., rabies, distemper, parvovirus for dogs; feline distemper, rabies for cats) as well as lifestyle-dependent vaccines (e.g., Lyme, Bordetella).
Parasite Prevention and Control: This includes testing for and prevention of internal parasites (like heartworms and intestinal worms) and external parasites (fleas and ticks), crucial for both pet health and public health.
Diagnostic Services: To diagnose illnesses and injuries, a modern veterinary hospital typically offers in-house laboratory services (blood tests, urinalysis, fecal exams), as well as diagnostic imaging such as X-rays to examine bones, organs, and foreign bodies.
Sick Pet Appointments: When your pet isn't feeling well, Animed Pet Hospital would provide appointments for diagnosing and treating acute illnesses, injuries, and other health concerns, working to determine the cause of symptoms and provide appropriate medical intervention.
Minor Surgical Procedures: While complex surgeries might be referred to specialists, general practices often perform routine surgeries such as spaying, neutering, lump removals, and minor wound repairs.
Dental Care: Oral health is critical for overall pet wellness. Services would likely include dental examinations, cleanings, and possibly extractions to prevent and treat periodontal disease.
Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets for pets of all ages and health conditions, addressing concerns like weight management, food allergies, and specific dietary needs.
Behavioral Counseling: Advice and resources for common behavioral issues, helping pet owners address problems like anxiety, aggression, house-training issues, and more.
Senior Pet Care: Tailored care plans for aging pets, focusing on managing age-related conditions, pain management, and maintaining quality of life.
Based on customer feedback, Animed Pet Hospital exhibits several key features and highlights that are important for local pet owners to consider:
Dedicated and Caring Staff: Several reviews praise the staff for being "exceptional" and "pleasant." This suggests a team that is generally professional, welcoming, and attentive to both pets and their owners, fostering a positive environment.
Experienced Veterinarians: Dr. Martinez and Dr. Salter are specifically mentioned, indicating a team of veterinarians with varying approaches but a shared commitment to animal care. Dr. Salter is noted for being "cool, calm, and informative," which is highly valued by pet owners during potentially stressful visits.
Long-Standing Community Presence: The fact that some families have brought their pets to Animed for "years" suggests a consistent, trusted presence within the Dedham community. This longevity can indicate a stable practice that builds relationships with its clients over time.
Ability to Handle Multiple Pet Types: The reviews mention care for "three cats and my dog," indicating their capability to provide services for both canine and feline patients, making them a convenient option for multi-pet households.
Accessibility for Appointments: One reviewer noted a preference for Animed over another clinic because they "don’t always have a month to wait for an appt," suggesting that Animed Pet Hospital may offer more timely appointment availability, which is crucial for pet health management.
It is also important to note that, as with any service provider, individual experiences can vary. One review highlights a specific negative interaction regarding communication style and perceived judgment, particularly concerning a pit bull's temperament and dietary choices, leading to a lack of aftercare instructions and follow-up. This underscores the importance of direct communication and ensuring a good fit between the pet owner's expectations and the clinic's approach.

Animed Pet Hospital Reviews
Dr Martinez and his staff are exceptional. They care for my three cats and my dog. I have had animals for many decades and this is the best vet experience I have had.
Apr 18, 2025 · SaSa PanareseI want to start this review with saying that my parents have brought our pets to Animed for years and I recently brought my cats to Animed and have always had a great experience with Dr. Salter. The staff has always been pleasant and Dr. Salter is cool, calm, and informative which is why I was so thrown by todays visit. My dad brought his dog in today for the first time, a pit bull. A very happy, gentle, NON AGGRESSIVE, pit bull. We used to take him to VCA but we don’t always have a month to wait for an appt. Anywho. I listened in on the visit. He was seen by Dr. Martinez who was very rude and dismissive. The staff seemed to be really concerned about his temperament and whether he was aggressive before even seeing him. (Poor pitties are always judged). They asked if he would need a muzzle for the visit. Further into the exam, Dr. Martinez was down right condescending. His tone was very off putting. For example, he questioned why the dog was on grain free food. We explained that it was suggested by VCA because of loose stool. His response was “I highly doubt they told you that.” Yeah because I like to buy my dog 100.00 dog food just because….? Just seemed unnecessary. He was seen for his issue and sent on his way. No aftercare instructions. No follow-up for a full exam. Nothing. We will not be returning. It’s not hard to be kind.
Feb 15, 2024 · Stephanie WilliamsWe've been going to Animed for years. When Dr. Salter retired and Dr. Martinez took over, he was amazing and has an incredible staff! 100% recommended!
Jan 29, 2025 · Ashley CurtinWill never take my dog back after the NEW vet MARTINEZ took over. Has very little to no experience with most breeds and none with mine as he told me. Literally insulted three other vets because of meds they have prescribed my dog in the past then tries and back peddle when I asked him why would he trash talk other vets because of what medications they believe or don’t believe would work. My dog is allergic to chicken and has been since we got her and she broke out after eating some so we went in to see Martinez who we told that this is not the first and informed him we were giving a particular medication in the past and worked immediately but instantly trash talks the meds and prescribes his own back in April now in July she has progressively gotten worse. We have been emailing for weeks and they claimed we used the wrong email and gave us the CORRECT one which was the exact same one I was using and had to pretty much haggle to get him on the phone after 3-4 weeks of emailing and being told I was gonna get called back. Still did not prescribe what I wanted and what the 3 other vets in the past have prescribed when she has broken out from eating anything with chicken in it and told me he has NO EXPERIENCE with my breed so I’m moving on to another vet with more experience. NOT THE SAME AFTER MR . SALTER WHATSOEVER
Jul 19, 2024 · Charlie WilsonAnimed is a wonderful place to have your pets treated. The care is top notch and Dr. Martinez, Greta and the rest of the staff are gentle, knowledgable and take a special interest in the pet and the family. Animed really stands out as a unique practice in this world of impersonal, a la cart, upselling vet clinics.
