When considering veterinary care in Minnesota, what is worth choosing is a partner in your pet’s health. Banfield Pet Hospital positions itself as that partner through its structured and comprehensive approach. For some pet owners, the main draw of Banfield is the predictability and affordability offered by the Optimum Wellness Plans®. These plans can provide financial peace of mind, making it easier to budget for routine visits and preventative care, which can often be a financial strain for families. The seamless integration of services—from the veterinary exam to the in-house pharmacy and diagnostic lab—means a more efficient and less fragmented healthcare experience for pets and their owners. While the corporate structure and standardized approach may not appeal to everyone, for those who value a consistent system and a focus on preventative medicine, Banfield offers a compelling model. The accessibility of its location and its clear emphasis on routine, proactive care make it a practical and sensible choice for a large number of Minnesotans who want to ensure their pets have access to continuous and predictable healthcare.
It is important for prospective clients to understand the clinic's model, particularly the wellness plans, and how they differ from traditional veterinary care. For a pet owner who is proactive about their pet's health and wants a clear plan for managing routine costs, the Banfield model can be very effective. This makes it a great fit for new puppy or kitten owners looking to establish a solid foundation for their pet's health, as well as for those with healthy adult pets who want to stay on top of their preventative needs. The combination of a standardized service menu, the convenience of an in-house pharmacy, and a focus on preventative care makes Banfield a viable and attractive option for pet owners in the Bloomington area who are looking for a reliable and predictable healthcare solution for their beloved pets.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place is not equipped to handle high energy 60 pound Labrador retriever. This was the second visit they gave me tranquilizers for him and he was docile and slow with a muzzle. They took him out of my sight. I didn’t hear any noise brought him back and said we can’t handle him. Maybe if you get a tooth cleaning next time we can do the regular visit after we put him to sleep dangerous to some dogs so every visit they want to put him to sleep because they haven’t got the manpower or equipment to take care of a high energy dog, which has been already drugged. This is ridiculous. First visit went fine cause it was in the office in the room and I was there to help hold him without any drugs and everything went fine. I would not recommend this place unless your dog or cat acts like a zombie or maybe they wanna put your animals to sleep also for the extra tooth cleaning charge and the risk of death to the animal because of complications$600 a year and I was told by them I can get HEART medication for heartworm cheaper on the Internet but they have to contact them for a signature which I’m sure will be a 30 or $40 charge for them too. OK the medication. The vet was very cold in her conversation when she said we’ll have to give him heavier doses or put him to sleep for visits and I said so every visit is gonna cost me a tooth cleaning and they have to put my dog to sleep because you can’t handle him and her response was that’s your prerogative I responded with no that’s my reality. Very cold nonresponsive stare from her. Already left a previous response to the visit with lots of questions and have not received any response back except for this another. How was your visit? Would not recommend this place if they’re incapable of handling a small Labrador retriever who is good behavior
August 12 · Robert ManningIt started out fine. Regular visits, regular vaccines. Then, my dog had a positive heart worm test (they rx’d preventatives but didn’t run a test for 3 yrs). That one visit was $400. That doctor was nice- at the time- tells me $3k average for treatment. Then I call with questions and he gets angry and completely unprofessional with me so I then transferred clinics. Total for heart worm treatment at a different clinic, which has been wonderful and professional, $400!! Do not go here! They are absolutely stealing from you. Some staff are great but WOW. I’m in the medical profession and this was just unacceptable all around. Broke my pockets and my feelings!
October 21 · AngieDr. Cruz and Megan are an amazing team! They are kind, caring, and compassionate. I was able to get in within two days and the fees were less than expected. Thank you for being so awesome!
November 09 · Annette EkstromI thought that doing the Banfield plan would be fine because I had a relatively healthy dog. He has terrible anxiety, and I have brought him for multiple visits, but they will not prescribe medication for it. They tried to give me a probiotic. Not helping. At this point, we have tried everything. One visit they left him in a crate so long that he got anxious and tried to open the crate and broke a tooth. Then we were told we couldn’t have the tooth pulled because he has a heart murmur. We spent tons of money to get cardiac clearance for the dental procedure. Not to mention they initially scheduled the Cardiac visit without checking with us and we missed it even though we didn’t know about it. Then they just cleaned the teeth and would not extract the tooth even though that was the plan in the first place. I’m so frustrated with my care here. I never write reviews. This place is a mess. Terrible communication. Everyone seems friendly when we’re there and then nothing ever gets solved.
May 23 · Katelynne DelfsGo elsewhere. My cat is ill and was throwing up. Booked an appointment online for the following morning and they called me and said they won't see my cat because he has never been seen there before and because of that they don't have time for him and canceled.
