While the hospital has a reputation for being a large corporate entity, the team in Vernon Hills works hard to ensure that the experience feels personal and attentive. However, some clients have noted challenges with scheduling and corporate policies. One review mentioned a frustration with a last-minute appointment cancellation, highlighting a potential disconnect between the online booking system and the hospital's on-the-ground availability. This is an important consideration for pet owners, especially when dealing with a sick animal. It's always a good idea to call ahead and confirm appointments, especially for urgent needs, to ensure the best possible experience. Despite these occasional logistical challenges, the on-site staff, like Dr. Sarah, consistently receive praise for their professionalism, flexibility, and genuine care for the animals they treat. The positive feedback from clients who have been helped by the staff's dedication and kindness is a testament to the local team's commitment to their patients.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Banfield Pet Hospital has been incredible with our puppy, Rosie. As first-time pet owners, we’ve had so many questions and concerns—and Dr. Sarah has gone above and beyond to provide thoughtful, insightful care every step of the way. She truly listens and helps us understand the full picture of Rosie’s health. The staff is equally amazing: friendly, flexible with scheduling, and always welcoming. We feel extremely confident and supported with the care team here. Highly recommended!
July 09 · Rob “Rob” n/aThis is the second time I scheduled an appointment at this location for my sick dog, where I was called less than 3 hours prior to the appointment, telling me that they would not see my dog. They claim that the scheduling system online does not reflect their actual availability. I now have to go to an emergency vet, for a second time, at double the cost, because Banfield is unable to honor their own appointments, or their other solution is to wait (which is not an option).
June 24 · Jon KomperdaMy mother who dropped off my dog told me she was told services will be $200 to $300.$600.$554.$780.No wait its $554.Felice is ready for pick up $1,200.Im very unhappy and feel robbed. I can only hope whoever worked on her actually did something. Poor service and aiming to go elsewhere to avoid unprofessional service and greed.
August 19 · Gabriel LoboI’ll be honest—I was skeptical at first about Banfield because it’s located inside PetSmart which is.. not my favorite pet supply store, and because their prices (for the wellness plan specifically, I got the highest tier for my pup) seemed a little too good to be true. Regardless, I decided to give them a shot as I recently moved away from my previous vet and needed a new one in the area. I have only visited this location, but so far they have significantly exceeded my (obnoxiously high) expectations in every way. My dog had his first dental cleaning here, he’s 6 years old and had only ever gone under anesthesia once before for his neuter at 18 months, and his breed is very prone to MVD (a heart condition that develops with age) so I was very nervous ahead of the procedure. When I expressed my concerns to the team at Banfield, they went above and beyond to ensure that he received the best possible care. The doctor spoke to me ahead of the procedure and although my dog has yet to exhibit any signs of MVD, she opted for the cardiac safe anesthesia protocol for him at no additional charge. When I picked him up after the cleaning, they gave me detailed instructions for aftercare and informed me of potential side effects to monitor him for. Unfortunately, my dog had a very upset stomach for about a week after the procedure (not the vet’s fault in any way, he has always had a very sensitive stomach) and when this issue didn’t resolve for a couple days, I contacted Banfield for help. The woman who answered the phone was so helpful, she immediately brought the issue to the attention of the doctor, who opted to prescribe a chewable probiotic tablet to be given 3x/day for 5 days and recommended feeding a bland diet until the symptoms stopped. She also took the time to reassure me that GI upset was unfortunately relatively common after anesthesia and not necessarily a cause for alarm which greatly eased my anxiety. I called again about 24 hours later because my poor little guy was still very symptomatic even after 3 doses of the probiotic, and rather than brushing me off or dismissing my concerns (which would have been understandable after only 24 hours of treatment) the woman on the phone again spoke to the doctor who offered to prescribe a more potent medication to address my dog’s symptoms. When I came in to pick up this prescription later that day, the vet actually took the time to speak to me directly for about 15 minutes (this meant a lot to me as she is obviously very busy and I did not have an appointment). She listened patiently as I voiced my concerns and then explained my treatment options to me in detail, which was very reassuring. Ultimately I decided to hold off on the second medication she prescribed as I wanted to give the probiotic another day or so to work, so she left the prescription on file for me so that I would be able to easily come in at any time and pick it up in case I did decide it was needed. Luckily, my dog’s condition began to slowly improve the next day so I didn’t end up getting the second prescription. Then, a week or so after I came in and spoke to the vet, she actually called me personally just to follow up and make sure my dog was feeling better and I had no additional concerns. She also noted this reaction to the anesthesia in my dog’s records so that in the future preemptive measures can be taken before any anesthesia to lessen his risk of similar discomfort after the fact. Honestly, I was blown away by the quality of care provided to my dog by the entire team at Banfield. Every single Banfield employee I interacted with went above and beyond to ensure my dog’s health, safety, and comfort. I’m so grateful to the entire Banfield team, and so glad I gave them a chance despite my initial (completely unfounded) misgivings! Whenever I need veterinary services in the future, Banfield will always be my first choice. Thank you Banfield team!!!
November 09 · Dani GliksmanThis isn’t my home Bandfield but was told to come here due to no appointments at my home location. My experience here was amazing. The care they did on my dog was great and the communication with the staff here was exceeded. The practice manager, Rachel, was on top of everything!! She fixed a problem I had with my home Vet and made it right! It wasn’t even her fault and we went above and beyond and made sure I was taken care of. The best customer service I’ve experienced!
