While I appreciated that they were able to accommodate a same-day appointment, the experience that followed was deeply upsetting and traumatic.Upon arrival, the front desk staff was cold and dismissive. I noticed a candle meant to signal when someone is saying goodbye to a pet, asking others to speak quietly—a thoughtful idea in theory, but it was never turned on during our visit, which only added to the sense of disregard.After being taken to a room, I was asked why I was there, despite having already provided that information when I made the appointment. The staff member then said it was just a required question, which felt insensitive given the emotional nature of the visit.As I was being informed about the process, I could hear loud laughter and joking from employees nearby, which was highly inappropriate for the setting. They took my cat to the back for a brief exam, saying he would be returned so we could say goodbye—but that never happened. I was later told my cat died during the process, and they attempted CPR but I told them to NOT do CPR. I never met the veterinarian or any of the staff involved.We were only able to say goodbye to his body. To make matters worse, I received a call afterward stating that my cat had bitten a technician and that he would need to be decapitated to test for rabies. That information was delivered with little tact, and I was left shocked and further traumatized.When I called to express my concerns, the response was dismissive and completely lacking in accountability or compassion. This was a heartbreaking situation made far worse by how it was handled. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone seeking compassionate end-of-life care for their pet.
May 04, 2025 · Orion's HalmoniBanfield & it’s amazing staff saved my fur baby!About two weeks ago, I woke up to heart-shattering sounds of my cat, Mufasa, meowing in pain. I could tell that something was seriously wrong and I was devastated. Banfield got him in first thing that morning and worked on him all day. He had a block in his bladder and was not able to pee on his own. His kidney and potassium levels were through the roof, and he was in extreme pain. Due to financial reasons, I was unable to bring him to a more specialty hospital, which was recommended. I was heartbroken at the thought that I may have to euthanize my baby boy. But God sent me to the right place! The Banfield doctors and staff worked hard over three days to unblock Mufasa’s bladder and give him lots of medicine and fluids, which brought his blood work back down to normal levels. Most importantly though, they gave him so much love and care while he was there. The staff was so compassionate, empathetic, and kind towards us during those three long days.Dr. Giffear is truly an angel on earth, with an amazing gift. I feel truly blessed to have met her & I cannot thank her and her amazing team at Banfield enough for saving Mufasa’s life.He’s been doing amazing back at home now for the last two and a half weeks and I am so incredibly grateful. I’ll never go anywhere else!!
Dec 21, 2024 · Heather WolvertonI brought my cat to Banfield a few months back for balding above his eye that began ~ 1 week prior to the appointment. Dr. Firestine and her amazing tech (I believe her name was Charlie?!) were great in the initial approach to try a cone for a week to see if hair would grow back (assuming he must have just rubbed up against something) coupled with flea/tick meds as a preventative.Following removal of the cone at night a week later, I woke up the next morning to my cat covered in ~5-10 hot spots which were red, inflamed, and hairless. I brought my cat back to Banfield that night and was incredibly frustrated and disappointed with the weekend staff- the vet was very uncertain, rudderless, careless, and frankly, seemed to lack experience and confidence in all areas. She and the vet tech continuously asked to take my cat in the back for evaluation, despite saying no and repeating I was here for an "in-room" visit as the owner with the vet and my pet together.The vet gave 0 direction and continuously asked me what I wanted to do with the issues we were seeing and asked how I wanted to move forward, without clear explanation of what was even going on. After suggesting previously researched interventions and diagnostics from Google as a starting point, the vet tested for fleas (barely placing the dirty flea comb in the fur), completed a bacterial swab under the microscope (after placing a "sterile" slide on the dirty table before and after swabbing without any measures to keep the swab clean- did not even place slide on a paper towel), did UV light testing (less than ~5 seconds over cat's skin and said she "didn't think the light was working right"), and ringworm testing- it truly felt like she was going through the motions as late night practice for an upcoming practical exam. She then took pictures of the cats skin to likely look up on the computer in the back. We settled on starting with ringworm meds, and if they didn't work, starting my pet on Prednisone. I had to ask the vet tech on 4 different occasions to send the vet back out to speak with me about dosage, administration instructions, clarification questions, etc. as she continuously sent out the tech as her messenger. The vet suggested a compound vet ~55 minutes away, but after some research, I suggested one locally in Mt. Laurel. After waiting 3 weeks for ringworm results (which were negative), we started him on prednisone and the med healed what was likely an allergy.All things aside, I am glad my pet is doing better though I will never take him back to a Banfield, let alone on the weekends. After my initial (and positive) visit with Dr. Firestine, I essentially paid $500+ to evaluate, diagnose, and treat my own cat. I have never heard, "I don't know", "It may/could be", "That is possible", "That's true" paired with so much uncertainty in any pet or human doctor prior to this appointment.
Mar 22, 2025 · Melissa ZumbrunSwitched vets looking for a second opinion this vet was very thorough offered some alternative treatments compared to the repetitive treatments that the last vet was offering. super friendly staff. The medication did seem slightly more expensive than our previous vet, but an increase in price is worth the service. Our tech was Charlie and Doc was Dr Ziner, highly recommend them!
