Haven Animal Health Services | Home of PetPT distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that make it a premier choice for pet rehabilitation and comprehensive care in New Jersey. The glowing customer reviews emphasize particular strengths that resonate with pet owners seeking specialized and empathetic treatment.
- Specialization in Pet Rehabilitation (PetPT): This is arguably their strongest differentiator. Their expertise in non-surgical treatments, particularly water treadmill therapy, offers a viable and often less invasive alternative to surgery for conditions like torn ACLs, as vividly demonstrated by the customer whose dog recovered without a $5000 surgery. This focus provides immense value to pet owners who prefer to avoid surgery or are seeking rehabilitation post-surgery.
- Compassionate and Client-Focused Care: Reviews consistently highlight the kindness and understanding of the staff, including the doctors and the office manager. The anecdote about providing a cool indoor space during car troubles illustrates a deep commitment to client comfort and goes beyond standard veterinary service.
- Thorough Communication: The doctor's proactive follow-up call to discuss X-rays as soon as they were reviewed demonstrates a commitment to keeping pet owners informed and involved in their pet's care plan. This level of communication builds trust and confidence.
- Reasonable and Transparent Pricing: A significant highlight, especially in the context of advanced treatments. The customer's surprise at the much lower cost of water treadmill therapy compared to surgery underscores the affordability and value offered, making high-quality specialized care accessible. The fact that the doctor didn't immediately push for expensive options like PT indicates an ethical approach focused on the best interest of the pet and owner's budget.
- Comprehensive Approach: While specializing in rehabilitation, they also offer general wellness, diagnostic, and surgical services, providing a holistic approach to pet health under one roof. This means pet owners can potentially receive a broad spectrum of care without needing to visit multiple facilities.
- Positive Outcomes for Chronic Conditions: The success story of the 11-year-old dog thriving years after water treadmill therapy for a torn ACL is a powerful testament to the effectiveness of their rehabilitation programs for long-term health and mobility.

Haven Animal Health Services | Home of PetPT Reviews
I've only taken my dog there once, but I did like them. My dog's X-rays weren't there, but the Dr made a point of calling me to discuss as soon as they got to look at them. She didn't recommend PT as a first step, which is nice as that can be pricey, and was quite a driver for me.Staff and the office manager were also nice. I had car issues when I arrived, and they gave me and my dog a cool place to stay inside, rather than us having to wait in the heat. I really appreciated that, as it made a stressful situation much easier
Jun 12, 2025 · Leona KonkelMy dog had a torn ACL and I was told she would need surgery that was going to be around $5000 from another vet. I brought her to Pet PT and they recommended water treadmill therapy. I never thought it would work, but it has been a few years now and she is still doing great at 11 years old. I can’t believe how well that worked and the cost was so much less than having surgery. I didn’t want to put my dog through the experience of having surgery. They have treated her ever since and I couldn’t be happier with how much they care and how reasonable they are with pricing.
Jan 18, 2025 · Denise GalvanAwful awful place. I would not go here if you trust your Pet or you value compassion.. oh, and don’t go in asking for explanations on things because you won’t know they lost my dog’s blood work for three weeks. They actually lost him in the building at one time. He’s an 80 pound pitbull so that’s kind of crazy. I was also told to put him down when he didn’t need to be put down he could’ve went to the hospital then they kept him in the freezer for a few days until they decided that I was allowed to have him And then I had to get them sent over to another crematory. The whole thing has been A nightmare I put nothing but love into this dog for 15 some years and ACL surgery dog fighting surgery prescribed dog food at PT for six years and the way they treated me was unbelievable that I was not giving them the money to cremate my dog for what they put me through and put my dog in a freezer next to other dead animals and getting their energy it’s sad. I can’t even have Chase‘s ashes in the house now They’re the whole experience was just awful. Very traumatic very traumatic. I don’t know about you, but usually there’s not too big men in the office a nurse the patient the dog I’m 90 pounds and I was highly grieving over my best friend oh and they called the cops on me After I left out of concern for my well-being, but the police said that they never answered them back and that’s all that they needed to know and it did sound like I was coed. I’m allowed to have an opinion.
Jul 05, 2025 · tipthescales34 uhuhI wasn't so sure at first if this would work...water therapy for a dog?!? It seemed like maybe a scam - but no, it was not a scam! It TOTALLY WORKED for our dog, Lucy who is 13 years old and hurt her back leg chasing after a rabbit. She did the water therapy and they did a package, so it was do-able financially. She loved the animal crackers they gave her and actually walked right to the door and wanted to go in for appointments (opposite of what happened at other vets). Rachel B. was great to work with and Dr. Russell Howe-Smith was amazing, getting down on the floor with our dog and making her feel comfortable as he examined her! I highly recommend Pet PT. If you're on the fence about bringing your dog, do it - you won't regret it!!!
Nov 18, 2024 · Jennifer TraugerDr Howe-Smith and his team are fantastic. My dog had a complete CCL rupture and he worked with me on a conservative management approach to get her walking away with the assistance of hydrotherapy & pain management. At times, I doubted that therapy was working but it was the best decision we made for our 8yr lab mix. 6 months later and she is able to enjoy walks again and supervised off leash time in her retirement era. So thankful for this team!
