Bayport Veterinary Hospital Reviews
Dr. Wheat has been caring for our pups for over 10 years. She is very knowledgable and caring. Her staff is very nice and helpful. I highly recommend Bayport Veterinary.
Mar 25, 2025 · Angelo PonceDr. Wheat has cared for my animals for roughly 7/8ish years. From our first visit, I appreciated her candor and sincerity. I have always felt she has offered her uncensored medical opinion, while still remaining compassionate. She is straightforward about worthwhile costs while not hesitating to steer you away from unnecessary/frill/novelty expenses. I have never once felt as though this office was trying to make money off of me; on the contrary, Dr. Wheat and her staff recognize the expenses that come with owning a pet responsibly and do their best to give their patients’ owners all of the options.Just this past week, Dr. Wheat saved my cat’s life. I brought him in after he stopped eating/drinking for a few days. She discovered a bladder blockage and jumped right into action. I cannot say enough about the care that Dr. Wheat and her team extended both to my cat and to me. Dr. Wheat rearranged her schedule to perform his necessary surgeries. She kept me apprised every step of the way, never once making me feel like she was rushing me out of the office or off the phone. She thoroughly explained every little thing- the why, the how, and the what of how to fix it. The way Dr. Wheat spoke of Bandit- it truly felt like she embraced treating him as if he was one of her own. The staff (as always) were so kind, understanding, and professional in every phone call and visit. They have since called no fewer than 3 times since his discharge simply to check on him.Being our first surgical event with any pet, I did not have a frame of reference for cost. In speaking with other pet owners with similar hospitalizations/surgeries, it is also very clear that Dr. Wheat did her very best to limit our expense. In looking over our bill and speaking with other pet owners, it actually seems there are several areas Dr. Wheat could have increased costs, but did not. I will also say that the office is incredibly clean and well maintained.I truly cannot say enough about this office, these people, and Dr. Wheat. I am very grateful this was the recommendation I received upon our first pet adoption years ago and that this is where all of my pets will receive their care.

May 16, 2025 · Lisa CalandrilloTo me this is the best veterinarians office. It is always clean and never smells like a veterinarians office, all front end staff is extremely friendly, all doctors and their assistance are wonderful, compassionate and caring with my dogs and cats, there is rarely any wait time, they keep only 1-2 dogs in the waiting room at a time and never let unfriendly dogs cross paths with others. They treat your babies as their own, answer all questions without ever rushing you along. One of my dogs ate a poisonous mushroom last summer. The office got us in right away, Dr. Wheat suggested what she thought it was (I found the mushrooms in my backyard later that day), ran some bloodwork, prescribed him medication and he was back to himself in a couple of days. They even called the following day to check in on him. Another huge thank you to Dr. Wheat for the time, patience and understanding to get my other formerly abused dog to feel comfortable with being "handled". I have not found one thing wrong in this office and I do not have enough words to express my thankfulness for the wonderful experiences there.
