Dr. Rufus and Bob are excellent not only at what they do but also the way they handle your pet and speak to you. Dr. Rufus performs procedures for shelters like PALS at a reduced fee. I have been using Dr. Rufus for over 35 years. He is very thorough and they have great hours, if you contact the office during nonworking hours, they will get back to you. This demonstrates a very dedicated that service. I extremely recommend Colonial animal veterinarian hospital. Also the pricing of their services are very reasonable. - bonnie disalvo

  • Comprehensive Wellness and Preventive Medicine: This includes thorough yearly physical examinations, tailored vaccination protocols based on a pet's lifestyle and risk (with many vaccines approved for 2-3 year intervals), and essential parasite prevention (heartworm and fecal checks). They emphasize preventive care to keep pets healthy long-term.
  • Advanced Diagnostic Services: The hospital is equipped with on-site diagnostic tools including digital radiography (X-rays) for quick and accurate imaging, and in-house laboratory equipment for immediate blood chemistries, heartworm tests, and stool checks. For more advanced diagnostics, they send samples to reputable external laboratories. They also have a new ultrasound for fast scans and ultrasound-guided techniques, and partner with a mobile service for additional ultrasound needs.
  • Complete Dental Care: Offering routine teeth cleaning, polishing, and necessary tooth extractions. Dental procedures are performed under general anesthesia with careful monitoring, often coinciding with other procedures for convenience.
  • Geriatric Care: Specialized services for older pets, including blood scans, dietary evaluations, arthritic evaluations, and treatments for common geriatric conditions to maintain their comfort and quality of life.
  • Advanced Surgical Procedures: Dr. Rufus performs a wide variety of surgeries including routine spays and neuters, growth removals, more complicated abdominal procedures, and even Tibial Tuberosity Advancement for Cranial Cruciate Ligament rupture.
  • Dietary and Nutritional Counseling: Expert guidance on appropriate diets and nutritional needs for pets of all ages and health conditions.
  • Microchipping: Providing Pet Link microchips and registration to help reunite lost pets with their families.
  • Hospitalization: While their policy is to try to send pets home the same day as procedures, they have comfortable runs and cages for overnight stays when it's in the pet's best interest. For critical conditions requiring 24-hour care, they assist with referrals to specialized emergency centers.
  • End-of-Life Care: Compassionate support for pet owners facing the difficult decision of saying goodbye, including quality of life discussions, comfort care, and dignified euthanasia services, with options for cremation through Agape Pet Services.
