Feb 25, 2025 · Angela DzenisReview for Dr. Fran Reed –I feel it’s important to share my experience so others can make informed choices when it comes to their pets’ care.During our visit with Dr. Fran Reed, my dog Black had X-rays done and was diagnosed with a chest tumor, which she told me was inoperable. I was devastated. As I started to cry, she became visibly uncomfortable and offered no emotional support or guidance. Her body language—crossed arms, holding her tablet like she was done—made me feel dismissed during a heartbreaking moment.Initially, the clinic sent incomplete records to my other vet’s office, which added to my stress and confusion. I did eventually speak with the clinic manager and was able to get the full records sent over, but this should have been handled correctly the first time—especially in such a serious situation. I was supposed to receive a follow-up call from the clinic manager, that never happened.Later, I discovered through reports sent to my other veterinarians (I rotate care to ensure the best for my pets) that it was actually a pulmonary mass, not just a vague “chest tumor.” I was left confused and scared, with no discussion about possible treatment, pain management, or what to expect as his condition progressed. Black was coughing so hard he was rupturing blood vessels in his lungs. I asked for a natural supplement to ease his symptoms—she refused, saying it wouldn't help. I ended up buying it myself from an Asian market and it did help. Thankfully, black seem to have no pain. I checked him every day to see if his body would react, had no personality changes or aggression to signal pain. What added to the frustration is that I wasn’t just a worried pet owner blindly following advice. I take pride in being a well-informed advocate for my animals. I’ve received compliments from my other dog’s neurosurgeon about how thoroughly I take notes, the questions I ask, and the research I do. I didn’t feel that Dr. Reed respected that. It felt like she assumed I wouldn’t understand or couldn’t handle the truth, and that’s incredibly disheartening. The only bright spot was Jennifer Douglas, who saw us on two previous visits. She was kind, attentive, and even circled back to double-check we covered all concerns. Even remembered Black from his previous visit. Her compassion was everything I had hoped for in a vet. (The supporting staff were all friendly as well, the only rude person was Dr. Reed)Black passed recently 6/4/25. I wasn’t prepared for how quickly things would turn because no one explained what to expect or how to monitor symptoms besides “loss of appetite” and “blood in stool.” Thankfully, I already knew how to tell when a dog was running out of oxygen. I caught the signs just in time to get him to his main veterinarian to be put to rest—but I shouldn’t have had to rely solely on my own research and experience in such a critical moment.I do not recommend seeing Dr. Fran Reed if you’re looking for compassionate, thorough, and respectful care. No one should walk away from a vet visit feeling confused, unsupported, or talked down to—especially in a moment of crisis.I will not call in the clinic to clarify any of this, as I have already spoken to the clinic manager before and received no follow up. So please miss me with the "call the clinic to discuss your review " no, you have my number if you wanted this cleared up someone would have reached back out to me like they were supposed to in March. Also dont call me i am grieving the loss of my 11yo dog, Black. Nothing you say will make any of this better. I feel how I feel and others should know what my experience was.
Jun 09, 2025 · AshThere are not enough words to use for the care they showed my senior dog and I. The experience I had with my last moments with my fur baby felt peaceful . They let me sit with her for as long as I wanted and I am forever grateful for the experience they let us have together.
May 23, 2025 · Mom PThey are absolutely the best around. Besides their prices, their bedside manner can't be beat. I live in Lambertville, MI, and I don't mind the drive at all. I'll never take my fur babies anywhere else ever!!! Absolutely the best! Love Ruger AKA Buddy and Valentine.
