CVCA Cardiac Care For Pets specializes exclusively in veterinary cardiology, providing a focused and in-depth range of services dedicated to diagnosing and managing heart conditions in companion animals. Their expertise is unparalleled in this specific field.
- Comprehensive Cardiac Consultations: Thorough evaluation of your pet's heart health, including a detailed history, physical examination, and assessment of current symptoms.
- Echocardiography: The "gold standard" for diagnosing heart conditions. This non-invasive ultrasound of the heart provides real-time images of the heart's structure and function, performed by board-certified cardiologists with the family often present.
- Electrocardiography (ECG): Used to evaluate the electrical activity of the heart, identifying arrhythmias and other electrical abnormalities.
- Holter Monitoring: Long-term ECG monitoring to detect intermittent arrhythmias that may not be present during a brief office visit.
- Blood Pressure Monitoring: Essential for managing heart disease, as hypertension or hypotension can significantly impact cardiac health.
- Thoracic Radiography (X-rays): Used to assess heart size, lung fields for fluid accumulation (indicating congestive heart failure), and other thoracic structures.
- Pericardiocentesis: A procedure to remove fluid from around the heart (pericardial effusion), which can be life-saving.
- Management of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF): Developing and adjusting medication regimens and treatment plans to manage symptoms, improve quality of life, and extend the lifespan of pets with CHF.
- Arrhythmia Diagnosis and Management: Identifying and treating various heart rhythm disorders, which may include medication or, in some cases, pacemaker implantation.
- Minimally-Invasive Interventional Procedures: For certain conditions, CVCA offers advanced procedures such as pacemaker implantation for severe bradyarrhythmias, or balloon valvuloplasty for conditions like pulmonic stenosis.
- Collaboration with Primary Care Veterinarians: Working closely with your pet's regular vet, providing detailed reports and ongoing communication to ensure coordinated care.
CVCA Cardiac Care For Pets is highly regarded by pet owners, with several key features that consistently receive positive feedback:
- Board-Certified Veterinary Cardiologists: This is a paramount feature. Their team comprises veterinarians who have undergone extensive additional training (typically 3-5 years beyond veterinary school) and passed rigorous examinations to become specialists in animal cardiology. This level of expertise ensures the most accurate diagnoses and advanced treatment plans.
- Exceptional Compassion and Care: Clients frequently highlight the "kindness, caring and professionalism" of the entire staff. Instances like staff going "above and beyond" to clean up a pet after an accident in a carrier, and ensuring the carrier was fixed, exemplify their genuine concern for the pet's comfort and well-being during stressful visits.
- Transparent and Detailed Explanations: The cardiologists are praised for explaining "everything she saw" during procedures like echocardiograms, allowing pet owners to understand their pet's condition in real-time. This open communication fosters trust and empowers owners to make informed decisions.
- Gentle Handling of Pets: The staff, including assistants, are noted for being "so gentle and reassuring" to pets, even nervous ones. This gentle approach helps reduce anxiety for the animals, making the diagnostic and treatment process smoother.
- State-of-the-Art Diagnostic Equipment: CVCA utilizes top-of-the-line equipment, such as Philips Pediatric Echocardiography Units, specifically chosen for their precision in imaging and measurements, which are crucial for the higher heart rates of pets.
- Focused Specialization: Their exclusive focus on cardiology means all resources, training, and research are directed toward heart health, resulting in a depth of expertise unmatched by general practices. They see over 24,000 cardiac patients annually across their network, making them the highest volume cardiology practice worldwide.
- Collaborative Approach: CVCA works seamlessly with primary care veterinarians, sending detailed reports and maintaining open communication, ensuring that your pet's general health care is integrated with their specialized cardiac treatment.

CVCA Cardiac Care For Pets Reviews
Couldn't be more pleased with the kindness, caring and professionalism CVCA brings. We went in for our kitty cardiac checkup, Kitty had an accident in his carrier on the way in. They went above and beyond making sure he was tidied up and settled. Carrier was also fixed up for the ride home. All went very well. He was calm and almost asleep during his testing.
Jun 26, 2025 · Andrea JonesFantastic experience- we only waited a short time and then we were guided to the exam room where the doctor was waiting for us! The doctor conducted the echocardiogram while explaining everything she saw to me.The assistant was so gentle and reassuring to my pup.We were so pleased with the assessment we received and by the gentle manner in which it was done.
Jun 15, 2025 · elizabeth starrsTook our two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in as they have a heart murmur. They were very good and showed us everything that was going on and explained it all. Very detailed. They were very good with the dogs.
Jun 15, 2025 · John VanjoskeOutstanding place! Very friendly, caring, clean, and professional environment. The exam team of Dr. Stern, Cheryl, and Alix were wonderful with me and my pup, Estela, who felt relaxed and was able to settle easily on the exam table with them. Dr. Stern very kindly explained what he was doing with his scans and measurements, and answered all my remaining questions when we met right afterwards to review the results. Jaclyn at the front desk was very sweet and attentive during check-in, check-out, and scheduling our next appointment. I also had opportunity to briefly meet Iza, another wonderful team member who had communicated with me for information updates prior to our appointment. It's not easy to have a pup with cardiac issues but we're so fortunate to have the great folks at CVCA to help us care for our little four-leggeds. Estela and I, and the rest of our pack, are very grateful to have you working with us! Thank you all, you are truly a blessing!
Jun 14, 2025 · Ana C. DuarteThis is the third year I have had my dog at CVCA’s cardiac department for a check up. Each of the three doctors we have seen (and the rest of the staff, too) have been so incredibly kind, gentle, and caring, and made this a good experience not just for me, but more importantly, the most comfortable it could be for my scared little dog. Dr. Kristin Jacob explained everything that she was looking at on the screen, as did the other two doctors we had seen previously, making this very comforting for me. I’m so grateful to have CVCA Cardio as part of my dog’s healthcare team!
