Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
Hello, Portland pet parents! Navigating the world of veterinary care for our beloved animal companions can sometimes feel like a complex journey. We all want the very best for our furry family members, ensuring they receive quality medical attention that aligns with our expectations and budget. In Portland, as in many communities, Banfield Pet Hospital is a widely recognized name in veterinary services. Located conveniently on SW Barbur Blvd, this Banfield location offers a range of services designed to address various aspects of your pet's health. Understanding what they offer and how their services are structured can help you decide if it's the right fit for your pet's needs.
Banfield Pet Hospital generally focuses on providing accessible, preventative veterinary care. They are well-known for their Optimum Wellness Plans (OWPs), which are designed to bundle routine services like vaccinations, exams, and some diagnostic tests into a monthly payment plan. This approach aims to make preventative care more manageable financially for pet owners. While these plans are distinct from pet insurance (they typically do not cover accidents or illnesses), they can offer discounts on other services not included in the plan, such as additional medications or procedures.
For Portland residents, the experience at Banfield Pet Hospital can vary, often depending on individual pet needs and the specific veterinary professional. While some clients have expressed concerns regarding the clarity of wellness plans and cancellation policies, others have found immense value, particularly when a specific veterinarian, such as Dr. Toleno, provides exceptional care. The continuity of care with a trusted vet is a powerful draw for many, even prompting some to drive further to maintain that relationship. Ultimately, Banfield aims to provide a structured approach to pet health, emphasizing preventative measures to keep your animal companions healthy throughout their lives.

Banfield Pet Hospital Reviews
Pressured us into signing up for a wellness plan in a rushed apt during our dogs annual checkup using a spreadsheet that is clear as mud. Got told we have 4 days to cancel so we agree and go home to do more research. Call back the following day to cancel- they tell us we must contact corporate. After ungodly amounts of time spent on home we get a rep on the phone who tells us it will be $336 to cancel the plan. Somebody is a liar.
May 15, 2025 · Trace VancleaveThis was my local Banfield until I moved, and switched to the one on 185th. I didn’t realize how lucky I had it.My first experience was so poor there, that I cancelled my OWP.Dr.Toleno was always so good with our lil’ guy here that I’m willing to drive 30mins to bring him and re-activated my wellness plan so she can care for him.
Apr 18, 2025 · Jeremy HillWould give a 0 star if i could these people lie and cheat you into paying 1000s of dollars for nothing. Would never come here again with my dog they treat all animals very poorly here and the staff could care less about how financially burdening they are. They dont care if youve gave them your last they will still ask for more worst vet in hillsdale. Better off going to a free clinic or non profit these people are just after your hardearned money!
May 07, 2025 · Cascade MountainBanfield did x-rays of my kitty and then referred me for an MRI and then to a cancer specialist ...All to find out that the original x-rays showed the cancer and I should have been advised to see a specialist at that point as the Cancer specialist at VCA said the MRI was totally unnecessary as everything can be seen on the x-ray. Then, they continue to bill you after your pet passes regardless of how much of the wellness plan was used.
Apr 20, 2025 · Dougan DawgsAbsolutely bless these people, every last person on the staff here I cannot thank you enough for delivering my sweet princess to safety after her spay surgery. They may happen often, but they don’t for me this is my first experience going through a major surgery with a cat and they absolutely treated my little girl with such care and tender handling, the suture itself is beautiful and seamless and they humored me through every step because this has been VERY hard for me I didn’t have pets growing up and it’s been extremely important to me to treat my two cats with the most love I can offer. The entire staff helped me keep that hope alive by continuing to provide excellent care and they did not let me down. Truly, thank you to everyone that accommodated me beyond belief especially when Microsoft shut down last week when my original appointment was. Thank you all for everything you’ve done and to the incredible vet, I just kept thinking of the operating table and what I’m sure it all took and I am just extremely grateful thank you all incredibly so.
