Veterinary Rehabilitation Consultations: Comprehensive evaluations to develop personalized treatment plans for each pet, considering their specific condition, needs, and goals.
Hydrotherapy (Underwater Treadmill): A cornerstone of rehabilitation, hydrotherapy provides a low-impact environment for exercise, strengthening muscles, improving range of motion, and reducing weight-bearing stress on joints. This is particularly beneficial for post-surgical recovery, arthritis management, and conditioning.
Chiropractic Manipulation: Gentle adjustments to address musculoskeletal imbalances, reduce pain, and improve nerve function, often used for spinal issues, lameness, and overall mobility enhancement. As one customer noted, "Dr. Shaw sits on the floor with the dogs, does chiropractic manipulation for tightness and sometimes even acupuncture."
Acupuncture: The insertion of fine needles into specific points on the body to stimulate healing, relieve pain, and improve various bodily functions. It's often used for chronic pain, neurological conditions, and promoting recovery.
Therapeutic Exercises: Guided exercises designed to build strength, improve balance, enhance coordination, and increase flexibility, tailored to the individual pet's capabilities and recovery stage.
Manual Therapy: Hands-on techniques such as massage, joint mobilizations, and stretching to reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and enhance flexibility.
Therapeutic Laser Therapy (Cold Laser): A non-invasive treatment that uses light to reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and accelerate tissue healing.
Pain Management: Development and implementation of strategies to manage chronic or acute pain, often combining multiple modalities for optimal comfort and function.
Weight Management Programs: Assistance for pets needing to lose weight, as excess weight can exacerbate joint problems and other health issues.
Senior Pet Care: Specialized programs designed to improve the quality of life for aging pets, addressing age-related mobility issues, arthritis, and overall comfort. One glowing review highlights this, mentioning how "Dr.Shaw and her staff at Back On Track were recommended to us by a close friend whose aging pup had been helped by her unique approach to care, as well as the hydrotherapy. We took our then 12-year old Lucy, an Australian Shepherd, to her, desperate for a solution to her nightly incontinence. Lucy improved greatly and lived another happy and healthy three years. All of the staff at Back on Track is AMAZING and we are very grateful!"
Conditioning for Athletic & Working Dogs: Programs aimed at optimizing performance and preventing injuries in active canine companions.
Specialized Focus on Rehabilitation: Unlike general veterinary clinics, Back on Track exclusively focuses on rehabilitation, meaning their equipment, staff training, and entire approach are geared towards maximizing physical recovery and improving mobility. This specialization ensures a deeper level of expertise in this particular field.
Highly Experienced and Dedicated Team: The center boasts a team of professionals, including the highly praised Dr. Shaw, who are not only skilled but also deeply compassionate. This speaks volumes about the quality of care and the positive environment they foster.
Individualized Treatment Plans: Every pet receives a customized rehabilitation plan. The approach is never one-size-fits-all, ensuring that the specific needs and conditions of each animal are meticulously addressed for the best possible outcomes. This tailored approach, including treatments like weekly sessions in the under-water treadmill and various stretching and strengthening exercises, was key to Lucy's significant improvement and extended happy life.
State-of-the-Art Equipment: The facility is equipped with advanced tools and technologies essential for effective rehabilitation, such as an underwater treadmill for hydrotherapy, therapeutic laser, and other specialized equipment designed for animal physical therapy.
Holistic Approach to Pet Wellness: While focusing on physical rehabilitation, Back on Track also considers the overall well-being of the pet. Aug 17, 2017 · Pam BriggsDr. Shaw is miraculous. I brought her a 9 year old dog who’d been having significant limping on her front foot. Other vets (once diagnosing her with elbow displaysia) recommended a pretty intrusive and expensive surgery that included cutting her forearm bone to ‘relieve pressure’ after the elbow surgery. I spent a lot of time and money trying to help her pain and I was starting to think her life was about to decline when I found Dr. Shaw.Dr. Shaw quickly figured out that, while she does have elbow displaysia and arthritis in that leg, the main source of pain was nerve issues from her attempts to compensate for that leg. After putting my sweet doggo on a protocol to rehab her body, she’s now 12 and running/jumping like a happy girl!We still come in every few months for adjustments and to keep her as pain-free as we can. I’m so glad I didn’t put her through surgery!I’m even more glad that Dr. Shaw could change the course of her life to keep her healthy and active into old age!Thank you, Dr. Shaw and team!
Jun 08, 2024 · Dawn AlbertDr. Bianca Shaw is a rare veterinarian with so much knowledge of animal anatomy and injuries. We are relieved she is helping us learn how to do exercises at home on our dog that has spine injuries. We feel empowered to help Teddy but rely on Dr. Shaw's expertise. She's a wonderful person and the staff are happy and upbeat.
May 26, 2023 · Sherold BarrThe whole team at Back on Track is fantastic. Kind, caring, dedicated. Dr Shaw is very hands on in working with your dog's condition. It's not all about blood tests and X-rays, it is a holistic insight and how to keep your pet healthy and pain free. My Corgi dog passed last year due to a genetic spine disease and Dr Shaw and the team helped her with rehab exercises, stretching procedures, and even got her a little wheel chair when it was time. Just can't recommend them enough!
