BarburVet Reviews
We love BarburVet and all of their staff. Natalie is always very kind and accommodating over the phone, and my pets LOVE Dr. Alexandra. It is very difficult to find someone knowledgeable about bunnies in the area and years ago, Dr. Alexandra helped my bunny recover from stage 4 pneumonia, and another bunny with GI issues! The bunnies will be 7 this fall. I brought my new puppy to Dr. Alexandra and and she was all tail wags because they made a happy positive environment from start to finish. If you care about keeping your pet happy and healthy, I recommend BarburVet!
Aug 29, 2024 · Monica KI am happy with barber vet. Great staff that welcome me and my dog. Excellent and fast services. My dog gets great care and I've been going there for years. Highly recommend. A heart pl
Jun 02, 2025 · Michael SirbutzI just moved to the area and needed a new vet. My first visit will be my last and we will be driving to our old vet. The push of “fear-free”, which means sedation, is out of control. My dogs are/always have been intensely skittish around new people or in new situations. They are rescues from a country where there are a lot of stray dogs that live in the wild and being removed from humans for several generations can result in an almost feral situations. We have lived in many places over the years and this is the 5th vet they’ve been to with no issues to report before coming here. Never once have they needed, or been pushed, to be sedated for a vet visit. As another reviewer said, it was all about the vet’s nervous energy. They were nervous when the vet tech. first came in yet she listened to my suggestion of ignoring them and letting them come to her. With a few meaty treat my dogs were calm and comfortable within a matter of minutes and wagging tails and accepting pets. When the vet came in she was carrying a bunch of stuff, which makes my dogs nervous. She took a pretty brisk step past them and towards me to introduce herself. My dog saw this as threatening to me and reacted with a hushed bark and no movement. The vet immediately freaked out “oh no she needs to be sedated”. I tried for several minutes to explain our “feral” situation and assure her I’ve had them 10 years, since they were 5mos old, and nothing has ever happened. She continued to relentlessly push the use of sedative and insult the way I care for my dogs, “living with anxiety is no way to live”…come to my house where they are comfortable and familiar, they are NOT living with anxiety, it was the demeanour and seemingly total lack of knowledge around dog behaviour of the vet that gave them anxiety in your office. Will never go back or recommend. To top this all off before anything had been done I let the vet know this was not working for us, we would be leaving, to please send me a bill. She proceeded to yell down the hallway, “you’ll pay me now because you took my time!” The lack of empathy, professionalism, and understanding of dogs was appalling.Response: the problem with your approach is I know my Dogs better than you.we have had to do sedatives before for other reasons and they’re just more slow and still anxious. it does not help them.as I said before your Vet tech was able to get them comfortable with a matter of five minutes because of her demeanour.
May 25, 2025 · Borrowed EarthI had a terrible experience bringing my cat here. The vet was extremely condescending and pushed unnecessary treatment for a mild case of dermatitis. She hit my cat on the head while reattaching the carrier—then instead of apologizing, she criticized the carrier itself, even though it’s worked perfectly for years of vet visits. She claimed the rash was likely seasonal, yet still pushed for an antibiotic shot and steroid injections, which felt excessive and honestly like a cash grab. When I called back to say the rash had healed on its own and asked for a topical solution to help with lingering itchiness, they refused to suggest even a single over-the-counter product.I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t waste your time here either. Try Banfield down the road—they’re much kinder and actually seem to care about your pet, not just your wallet.
May 08, 2025 · Delilah LebecNew fear-free procedures did wonders for my dog! We’ve been going here for over 4 years and we love it here. Of course my dog has always been a little nervous even though everyone is so nice, but this last visit for a couple vaccines went so smoothly! Xan took the time to get my dog comfortable and relaxed before giving the shots and it was amazing. I’m so happy my dog is a patient here and would recommend this vet to anyone!
