Features / Highlights
Four Paws Holistic Veterinary Hospital, particularly under the exceptional care of Dr. Edoff and her team, stands out for several remarkable features and highlights, as consistently praised by grateful pet owners in New York:
Unparalleled Compassion and Care: The most prominent highlight from reviews is the immense compassion. Clients describe Dr. Edoff and the entire staff as "most sincerely amazing wonderful caring people I have ever met in the animal industry" who "put so much into every care." This heartfelt dedication creates an environment where pets feel genuinely loved and comfortable, even at the vet.
Honest and Ethical Practice: Dr. Edoff is lauded for her honesty, particularly in sensitive situations. One client noted, "She told me that based on her exam that my boy had a tumor in his belly and was probably in liver failure. I asked her if we could do anything for him and said we could do bloodwork and an ultrasound but that would not change the outcome." This frankness, combined with not pressuring clients into unnecessary tests ("She didn't pressure me into doing bloodwork"), builds profound trust and respect, especially for those on fixed incomes.
Patient-Centered, Unrushed Approach: Unlike many rushed veterinary appointments, Dr. Edoff "spent a lot of time with me and my Max" and didn't rush in difficult moments, making "everything peaceful for me and Max." This unhurried, patient approach ensures thorough care and allows owners ample time to process information and say goodbyes.
Holistic and Integrative Philosophy: While not explicitly stated in all reviews, the hospital's name, "Four Paws Holistic Veterinary Hospital," indicates a core focus on integrating conventional medicine with holistic therapies. Clients appreciate the emphasis on natural approaches, hoping it will "keep my new boy healthy." This broad perspective on healing sets them apart.
Exceptional Client Support and Communication: The staff "always answer the phone to listen to you to hear you when you need them. To give the greatest advice." This high level of responsiveness and willingness to provide guidance makes pet owners feel supported and heard, fostering a strong sense of community.
Comfort-Focused Environment: The "immaculate" facility and thoughtful touches like "little blanket" in exam rooms contribute to a remarkably comfortable experience for pets. As one review states about their cat Cheesey, "I've never seen him so comfortable at a vet. He feels the affection and care." This reduces pet anxiety significantly.
Long-Term Trust and Recommendation: Clients express unwavering loyalty, stating, "I couldn't think of another vet that I would like to go to and deal with. They are all so wonderful!! Thank you so much four paws. We love you🧡" and high recommendations for future pet care, even after deeply emotional experiences.

Jan 13, 2025 · susan johnsonI brought my old, very sick dog to Dr. Edoff a few months ago. Instead of being rushed in and out of my appointment, she spent a lot of time with me and my Max. She told me that based on her exam that my boy had a tumor in his belly and was probably in liver failure. I was devastated. I asked her if we could do anything for him and said we could do bloodwork and an ultrasound but that would not change the outcome.I couldn't afford very much because I'm on a fixed income so I decided I had to let my boy go because I couldn't stand seeing him in any more pain.Dr. Edoff was very understanding and compassionate. She didn't pressure me into doing bloodwork which was a good thing because i was already very upset. She made everything peaceful for me and Max.I have been to a lot of vets over the years and found that she was more caring and honest then most of them.I decided then, that if I ever got another dog I would bring him to Four Paws. Well, I didn't decide to replace Max, but my daughter brought home a rescue dog for me.I couldn't say no. So I brought him in to Four Paws and I was very happy with my visit. I highly recommend her and I hope that being more natural will keep my new boy healthy.
Nov 03, 2024 · BarbaraThe worst vet experience to date. Place is filthy. I went for my dogs teeth cleaning (3.5lb yorkie) and I waited over an hour in the dingy waiting room. Vet came out and said “he (the dog) didn’t want a cleaning”. So what- you wrap him in a blanket and make him do it. No dog wants it….you just do it.Got charged almost $100 for “an exam” and wasted 2 hours of my life. Can’t explain how dissatisfied I am in words.

Aug 05, 2024 · David SimonDoctor Edoff is one of the most knowledgeable and compassionate vets I've ever been to. We discovered that my cat's urinary tract problems are most likely due to her having separation anxiety when I'm away. She noticed there was a pattern with her having inflammation and me going on vacation/ being away from my home because of my own medical issues. She created several flower essence drops to help her cope right then and there! Crossing my fingers that this treatment plan works. You can tell she just wants your pet to get better rather than just wanting as much money as possible.
