Freer Kent J DVM Introduce
For many residents of Washington, especially those in the Oak Harbor area with a connection to rural life, the health of large animals like horses, cows, and other farm animals is a critical concern. In a region where finding a specialist in this field can be challenging, the legacy of Dr. Freer's practice stands out as a pillar of the community. Dr. Freer, a beloved Large Animal Veterinarian, dedicated over 50 years of his life to caring for farm animals and some exotics. His practice is not a typical small animal clinic for dogs and cats, but rather a specialized service that catered to the unique needs of the agricultural community. This distinction is crucial for anyone seeking veterinary care, as it highlights the specific expertise and focus of this clinic.
The core of Dr. Freer's practice was built on a deep commitment to large animal health and a long-standing reputation for being a dedicated professional. As one client review clarifies, Dr. Freer practiced for over five decades, primarily as a veterinarian for large animals. He was known for his dedication and was beloved by those he served. His focus on large animals, including farm animals and some exotics, meant that his knowledge and experience were specialized and extensive in this field. It's a testament to his expertise that clients trusted him with their most valuable livestock and companions.
The review also sheds light on the nature of the practice: Dr. Freer’s work was centered on the animals themselves, and he only worked on dogs for a very small circle of close friends, taking his own pets to a local small animal vet. This confirms that his primary mission was always large animal care. The clinic’s services, therefore, are tailored to this specific type of veterinary medicine, which is a valuable resource for those in the area with agricultural or exotic animal needs. This specialized focus and long history of service make Dr. Freer’s practice an important part of the fabric of the Oak Harbor community.
The practice of Dr. Freer is located at 195 W Green Valley Rd, Oak Harbor, WA 98277, USA. This address places the clinic in a rural setting, which is fitting for a large animal veterinarian. The location is easily accessible for those in the Oak Harbor area and is well-situated to serve the farms and ranches of Whidbey Island and beyond. A major benefit of a large animal practice is its mobile veterinary service. This service allows the veterinarian to travel directly to the animals on their own property, which is essential for working with large animals that are difficult or impossible to transport.
The facility, which operates with a focus on large animal care, also makes a commitment to accessibility for its human clients. They provide a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, and a wheelchair-accessible restroom. These features demonstrate a thoughtful approach to client comfort and convenience, ensuring that everyone can access their services without physical barriers. The availability of a clean restroom on-site is another important amenity that contributes to a more comfortable visit.
While appointments are recommended, the nature of large animal care often involves urgent or emergency situations. The clinic’s services, including a "pet ambulance" service, suggest a readiness to respond to these critical needs. The combination of a fixed clinic location and a mobile service provides a flexible and comprehensive solution for the veterinary care of large animals in the region.
