Good Dog Aquatic Fitness specializes exclusively in services related to canine aquatic therapy and fitness. Based on the compelling customer reviews, their core offerings include:
- Canine Water Therapy (Hydrotherapy): This is their primary service, providing a low-impact environment for dogs to exercise, build muscle, improve range of motion, and recover from various conditions. It's particularly beneficial for:
- Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: Specifically mentioned for recovery after surgeries like TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy), which is a common orthopedic procedure for dogs.
- Injury Recovery: Aiding dogs in rehabilitating from injuries by leveraging water's buoyancy to reduce stress on joints while allowing movement.
- General Fitness and Conditioning: Providing a safe and effective way for dogs to get exercise, build stamina, and maintain a healthy weight, especially for those who might struggle with land-based exercise.
- Improved Mobility for Senior Dogs: Helping older dogs with arthritis or degenerative conditions to move more freely and comfortably.
- Introduction to Swimming: For dogs hesitant about water, they offer gentle introductions to help them become comfortable and enjoy swimming.
- Expert Guidance and Consultation: Luis, in particular, is highlighted as an "invaluable resource" who answers all questions about a pup's recovery process, indicating a strong focus on client education and support.
- Personalized Sessions: The individualized attention given to each dog, ensuring they warm up to the therapist and enjoy their time in the pool, suggests tailored sessions rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
It's important to note that as a specialized aquatic fitness center, they focus on physical rehabilitation and exercise, complementing traditional veterinary medical care rather than replacing it. They work within the realm of non-medical, therapeutic exercise.
Good Dog Aquatic Fitness distinguishes itself through several outstanding features that make it a highly recommended facility for canine hydrotherapy:
- Exceptional Staff Compassion and Friendliness: Luis and Mary are consistently praised for being "so friendly and welcoming to dogs and humans!" and described as "kind, honest, put you at ease." Sep 28, 2023 · Morgan McIntyreThere aren’t enough stars for Good Dog. I’d give 10 if I could! I went here a couple of years ago after my dog had a TPLO and they fully exceeded my expectations. She’s a rescue and can be hesitant with new people, but Luis was so calm and gentle with her, she warmed up to him immediately. He was very knowledgeable, answered my questions, and gave her a really good introduction to swimming. I really think she enjoyed her time in the pool! Luis and Mary are kind, honest, put you at ease, and although I was willing to do another round of PT, they said she was doing well enough that we didn’t need it. It’s obvious they really care about the dogs they’re helping! For my girl’s sake, I hope we never need help recovering from a major surgery again, but if we do, I’m absolutely coming back to Good Dog :)
Sep 01, 2024 · Virginia MerrillThey are amazing!!! I brought max here after having a knee patella surgery. At first Max could barely walk when we started the therapy. Slowly with the help of Luis and Mary he got stronger and was walking so much better. Not only are they amazing at what they do but they are also kind and listen to you about concerns and also give you awesome tips to help your dog heal faster. My dog Max Loved it! With their help he made so many improvement in such a short time. I would definitely recommend them.
Sep 02, 2022 · Rubi MendezPebbles is a rescue that I adopted when she was 3. She was TERRIFIED of EVERYTHING. Even though I’ve had her for more than a few years now she still struggles with many things. New experiences are not easy for her. She’s had 2 ACL surgeries and has severe arthritis in her elbows. Physical therapy is a necessity. Luis and Mary made her more comfortable than I could have imagined. I can’t believe how great she does in the pool! It’s obvious they’re passionate about dogs and they’re very good at what they do. Pebbles and I are grateful for their kindness and expertise!
Jun 23, 2022 · Allison ROur 3 y/o 75# Pitbull Pumpkin had TPLO surgery in November 2019, Good Dog Aquatic was highly recommended as therapy following the surgery. Luis and Mary could not be friendlier if they tried, they both embraced Pumpkin like he was their own pup even accepting weeks worth of kisses that Pumpkin loves to give. Pumpkin worked very hard here, and we saw tremendous results from the obstacle course work and especially all the pool time. Luis takes his time and measures the mobility of the injury weekly providing clear results. Not only did Pumpkin get weekly blow-dries after his pool time but Mary was kind enough to give Pumpkin a holiday chew toy which was the icing on the cake. Pumpkin is back to 100% and that is due to the surgeon at Bulger vet and the rehab provided by Good Dog Aquatic!
