★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1After almost 3 years have gone by, I decided to leave a review of my negative experience at Heritage. I had a very sick 6 year old F4 SBT male Savannah, not eating and loosing weight fast. I had him at 2 vets, Heritage being the second vet I went to for a second opinion. He was diagnosed with a mass on his liver by palpating and a bad case of pancreatitis, confirmed by snap test. The Dr recommended euthanasia. I agreed. I brought him in the same day, after my conversation with the Dr and he was euthanized. When I asked for a simple cardboard box to put my deceased cat into, so I could transport him to Pets Remembered to be cremated. They said NO, and made me carry my dead cat out in the blanket that was in his carrier. I'm glad I had that much with me. After I reflected on the entire situation later down the road. I was made aware that my cat could have been saved if he had been put on prednisolone to reduce the inflammation causing the pancreatitis, and him to not eat. If that was gotten under control, we could of had the ultra sound and liver biopsy. Liver cancer is a survivable cancer if it hasn't metastasized. Only years later I found out that this was a very real answer to the problem my cat was having. The uneducated Dr that seen my cat didn't even offer this as a possible treatment. Be careful where you take your animals. Some places like Heritage have less than willing doctors to figure out the hard cases. They only like the shuffle in and out jobs, because they pay the bills quickly. In response to the reply. I did try to bring Chip to a critical care facility, I tried the U of M but was turned down. I was told they were full, and not taking new patients. In shock of being told that euthanasia was the best option, I assumed that all reasonable avenues have been exhausted. This wasn't heart or kidney failure. The not eating on his own was loss of appetite because of the pancreatitis. I force fed him for almost 2 weeks, waiting for the vets to come up with a solution. There was nothing done in the time between waiting for a ultrasound that didn't happen, because the machine was broken?? Pretty sure thats wasn't the only sonographer in the metro.
July 15 · Brad ChristiansonWe have been so impressed with Heritage Animal Hospital for over 20 years. . They are in tune with our animals and our needs to make them comfortable. Our dog is almost 16 years old and due to the care at Heritage Animal Center she is feeling young again.
April 30 · Colleen JohnsonI’ve given this clinic several chances with my dogs, but after a recent experience, I’ve decided not to return. When my Chihuahua suffered a back injury, I contacted the clinic to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately, the staff was not compassionate during what was already a very stressful time. Before even seeing her, they said she needed to be euthanized. Concerned by this response, I sought a second opinion at another veterinary clinic, where they offered multiple treatment options. Thankfully, my Chihuahua is now (2.5 years later) doing very well and not in pain. I’m incredibly grateful I followed my instincts and pursued another opinion.More recently, I brought my Corgi in for a routine checkup. He was a bit timid, and the clinic refused to treat him due to his nervousness. They said he needed anxiety medication and attempted to charge $70 for a dosage (one time use) to be taken prior to a rescheduled appointment. I declined. Other places sell a whole bottle of those pills for $4. I’ve since found a new vet who was able to administer his vaccinations without any need for sedation or medication.
July 14 · Stevanna GalvinWe have been going to Heritage Animal Hospital for several years. They are a great place to treat your pet. My dog gets a little anxious going to the vet, but she does best here. They are fast, friendly and caring. They have great recommendations as she is aging to help her be more comfortable. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for quality care!
March 15 · Linda PetersonWe've taken our 3 cats here for the past 2 years. The staff is very friendly and loves on our kitties just like we would. No matter which doctor is working with us, they always help us understand our options and provide amazing care while minimizing stress for our cats. We recently moved and will still drive back to take our pets to heritage because of the amazing relationship they've built with us and our cats. I have and will continue to recommend heritage to any pet owners in the area
