Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
For pet owners in Minnesota, the choice of a veterinary provider is a significant decision. Banfield Pet Hospital, located in Plymouth, is part of a large national network of clinics, offering a familiar and standardized approach to pet care. As a corporate veterinary chain, Banfield focuses on providing a wide range of services, with a strong emphasis on preventive care and wellness plans. Their approach is designed to make regular veterinary visits and preventive services more accessible for pet owners. The Plymouth location, like others in the Banfield network, provides services from routine checkups to more advanced diagnostics and general surgery, all aimed at helping pets live long, healthy lives. Their model is to offer a consistent level of care and services across their locations, which can be a key feature for clients who may travel or move frequently within the Banfield network.
Banfield Pet Hospital's business model is built around its Optimum Wellness Plans, which are subscription-based packages that bundle a variety of preventive services, such as comprehensive exams, vaccinations, and parasite control, for a monthly fee. The clinic prides itself on providing a wide array of services in a single location. The staff includes veterinarians and vet technicians who are equipped to perform various medical procedures. The clinic is also an LGBTQ+ friendly space, committed to creating an inclusive environment for all clients. However, it is important for potential clients to understand the corporate structure of a large chain. As some reviews indicate, this model can lead to a high turnover of veterinarians, which may impact the continuity of care. While some clients have had positive experiences with individual vets and staff members, others have reported communication challenges and a perceived focus on upselling wellness plans over personalized care. This is a point of consideration for pet owners who value a long-term, personal relationship with a single veterinarian.
Banfield Pet Hospital in Plymouth is located at 4190 Vinewood Ln N, Plymouth, MN 55442. This location is easily accessible to residents of Plymouth and the surrounding communities in the western Twin Cities metro area. The facility provides a wheelchair-accessible parking lot, which is a convenient feature for all clients. Banfield operates on a system of appointments, with a clear note that an appointment is required for services. They also offer drop-off options, which can be helpful for busy pet owners. While this may make it difficult to speak with the veterinarian in person, the clinic does offer phone consultations to discuss a pet’s health and treatment plan. It is important to note that due to their high volume, appointments may sometimes be booked in advance, so planning ahead is a good idea to ensure your pet is seen in a timely manner.

The clinic's commitment to being LGBTQ+ friendly is also a positive highlight, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. The staff, particularly the vet technicians, are often praised in reviews for their kindness and professionalism. Their ability to handle a high volume of clients and offer convenient services like drop-offs and phone consultations is also a practical benefit for busy pet owners. Choosing a veterinarian is a deeply personal decision, and Banfield Pet Hospital is worth choosing for certain types of pet owners. The clinic’s wellness plans can be a great option for those who want to simplify their budget for routine care and prevent major health issues. However, it is crucial for pet owners to take an active role in their pet’s health by carefully reading all paperwork and asking questions. As some client reviews suggest, communication can sometimes be a challenge, and it is important to be proactive in ensuring that all of your pet's diagnoses and treatment options are discussed in detail. The high turnover of veterinarians, as mentioned in one review, can also mean that the long-term, personal bond with a single vet may be difficult to establish, which is a consideration for many. While some clients have had very positive experiences, others have faced challenges with communication and follow-up care. For Minnesota pet owners who prioritize a structured plan for routine care and are comfortable with a corporate model, Banfield Pet Hospital can be a convenient and accessible option. However, for those who seek a more traditional, long-term relationship with a single doctor and a focus on personalized, one-on-one communication, it may be important to weigh these factors carefully and be prepared to take an active role in managing their pet’s care.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1READ OFFICE VISIT PAPERWORK!!!Edit: My opinion of Banfield has gone down significantly. My 10 year old cat was diagnosed with asthma and the vet never informed us nor offered any care such as an albuterol inhaler. Nobody mentioned anything in any of his 4 subsequent visits either. I only learned of his diagnosis after looking through Banfield paperwork trying to understand how my seemingly healthy cat had a partially collapsed lung and died a few days later. In all of my previous experience with Banfield over 10 years with 6 other animals, any health concerns or diagnoses were brought to our attention and discussed with the veterinarian. I can’t talk to the vet who made the diagnosis because he no longer works for Banfield. The average retention time for veterinarians is ~2 years which speaks volumes in and of itself. I am generously giving Banfield 2 stars for the positive experiences I’ve had with most of their vet techs and a small number of their vets.I blame myself for assuming this would always be the case, but mostly I blame Banfield for failing my beloved cat.Original review:Good service and availability. Doing a drop off and pick up, it can be difficult to get time to sit down and talk to the vet in person. They will make time by phone though.
April 22 · Harte Quimby⸻⭐☆☆☆☆Extremely Disappointed with Lack of Communication and ThoroughnessI brought my 17-year-old cat to Banfield for jaw swelling. Dr. Adriana Sachs diagnosed infected teeth and recommended extraction surgery. Given my cat’s age and chronic kidney disease (managed with a prescription diet for 6+ years), I had serious concerns. Dr. Sachs acknowledged the risk but quickly pivoted the conversation to cost, which felt dismissive.I called days before surgery with questions and specifically asked for Dr. Sachs to return my call. I never received one—only a generic reminder voicemail. At check-in, I was told the doctor tried to call but couldn’t leave a message due to a “full voicemail box.” This was false; I had no missed calls or voicemails, and my logs confirm it.I asked to speak to the vet before surgery and again was told she was too busy. After surgery, she still did not speak with me—a tech handled discharge instructions. When my cat declined post-op, I called asking for another round of antibiotics and pain meds, which I did receive, but still did not relieve my cat from suffering. I called the clinic again and I expressed concern that she was declining so rapidly that I was considering euthanasia. I was told another visit would be required for any further prescriptions. Despite all this, Dr. Sachs never contacted me directly—not even once throughout this entire ordeal. I was told nothing could be done without another appointment. However, I had no trust with scheduling an appointment with Dr. Sacks.I went to another vet and immediately received compassionate, thorough care. My cat was diagnosed with a common cancer that explained the infection and swelling. The new vet questioned why no biopsy was done during the initial surgery and had difficulty even obtaining records from Banfield.I do not recommend Dr. Adriana Sachs. The poor communication, lack of thorough diagnostics, and general disregard for my concerns resulted in over two months of unnecessary suffering for my cat. She is now in palliative care and finally comfortable.
August 06 · Kimberly PierceThe staff is very respectful, friendly and attentive to your needs. The vet was amazing with my Jewelz (a cat). They call me to check on my babies, the wellness plan is affordable and covers a lot. I also love the app that keeps me informed of all services received and it reminds me of services needed.
May 29 · Surrella “Queen-Ciroq” WatsonSince my Wilson was a pup, and he’s 14 now i’ve never had a problem bringing him to Banfield. They’ve always been very professional and helpful and always answer my questions.
March 26 · Sharon TolleyThey treated our pets for several years under their wellness plan (pet insurance). We were told that the wellness plan will cover their routine services as long as we pay the monthly rate for each pet. The part they don't tell you is that the wellness plan works as a pre-paid service and if chose to cancel, you need make an additional payment between the amount collected under the wellness plan and the last service provided. I wish they would have been upfront about this. We have had their wellness plan for over 7 years and got stuck with hidden charges. Beware and read the fine print.
