Hill & Harbour Veterinary Center Reviews
Hill & Harbour is by far the best vet practice I have experienced in nearly 20 years of pet ownership in multiple states (MA, NY, NJ, RI). Dr. Kimchi and Dr. Schoen both have such compassionate, kind, and respectful bedside manners towards pets and pet parents alike. I am the type of client whom many old school vets find annoying because I read research studies, ask a ton of questions, and prefer integrative treatments when possible. I have never felt dismissed or judged here. They are the type of vets who truly care, are very knowledgeable and nuanced thinkers, and never push unnecessary exams or treatments. I have the utmost trust in them and hope to be a client for years to come.In addition, all staff have been so pleasant to interact with - everyone loves animals and provides top-notch client service with prompt and helpful responses by phone, email, and an excellent chat app. Bonus points for being a certified cat-friendly practice! And I believe the prices are very reasonable for the quality of care provided. Thank you for everything you do!

May 23, 2025 · DreaThe BEST in every way. Knowledgeable, professional, friendly. Dr. Packard is very clear and cares about the babies and does what you want. They truly hear your needs/wants. They don't push you to do things. They explain everything in detail. I've been going there for many years, and I'll never switch.
Apr 15, 2025 · Dawn StrongCould not be more disappointed with this vet. We have been customers since they first opened for business. At first, we were very impressed by the attention given to meticulous care for our pets, and we were also impressed that the prices seemed relatively low for the quality of care received. Dr. Schoen is no doubt very knowledgeable in his field and takes time to offer detailed explanations. That said, over time, we have seen how the profit motive and the desire to expand the business drove prices above competitors, with a great deal of pressure placed on customers to pay for very expensive additional products on top of their already expensive office visits. Increasingly it has seemed that every time one walks in, one feels like a cash cow, constantly being upsold into purchasing additional items. Furthermore, Dr. Schoen seems to care nothing about your pocketbook, except how much he can take from it. He places guilt on clients who don’t purchase the most expensive products or services. For many years, they refused to even sign off on prescriptions from online medication services, forcing customers to pay their premium prices. The feeling of being constantly treated like an ATM machine drove us to seek care at other facilities, despite the convenience of their location and its proximity to our home. Unfortunately, other vets are further away and do not stay open for as many hours during the week, so, despite our desire to leave this vet, we continued to give them our business. Eventually they started adopting a policy where if you missed an appointment or even came in five minutes late, they would demand that you pay up front for any care provided, regardless of whether or not it ended up being received. When I complained to Dr. Schoen about this policy and the fact that we were literally one of their first customers, he adopted a very terse angry tone with me, and insisted that his policy was fair and appropriate. Finally after arguing with him for quite a while he agreed to a new agreement where he would drop the policy if we demonstrated consistent timeliness with coming to appointments. We did so, and the policy was dropped. After a number of years of keeping appointments, we missed one. Immediately we were sent a very terse letter explaining that if we missed another appointment we would essentially be fired as customers, and they would refuse to treat our pets. Against our better judgment, we continued to give them our business. Recently, my wife forgot to keep an appointment for our cat. We called and profusely apologized for the error. Soon we received a letter stating that they were indeed dropping us as customers and we could no longer receive care for our pets there. This, despite literally giving them thousands and thousands of dollars of business over the years, and, at least at the outset, recommending them to friends and neighbors who also gave them thousands of dollars in business. In short, this vet seems to care more about the almighty dollar than they do caring for their customers. They are all about maximizing your guilt for not emptying your bank accounts to take care of your pets, and if you don’t, they have no interest in serving you. STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET AT ALL COSTS. Your bank account will thank you.
