Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake, California Introduce
For many pet owners across Los Angeles, California, ensuring their beloved companions receive essential preventative care like vaccinations and microchipping can sometimes be a challenge due to cost or accessibility. Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake, California, aims to bridge this gap by offering vital services in a convenient and often more affordable manner. Located at a community hub, this service focuses primarily on making fundamental pet health measures readily available. This article provides an overview of what pet owners in California can expect when visiting Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake, detailing their services, location, and key considerations for a smooth visit.
The core mission of Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake appears to be centered around preventative medicine, providing the necessary immunizations to protect pets from common and potentially serious diseases. While the experience can vary, as highlighted in customer reviews, the fundamental goal is to offer an accessible option for maintaining your pet's health without requiring a full-service veterinary hospital visit for routine shots. Understanding their operational model and being prepared for their approach to boosters and pricing transparency can help ensure a more positive experience for you and your furry friend.
Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake, California, is uniquely situated at the **Silverlake Off-Leash Dog Park, 1850 W Silver Lake Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90026, USA**. This location is quite distinctive for a veterinary service, as it positions the clinic directly within a popular community spot where many pet owners already frequent with their dogs. Being at the Silverlake Off-Leash Dog Park makes it highly convenient for local residents who live in Silver Lake and surrounding Los Angeles neighborhoods.
The accessibility of this location is a mixed bag, offering both advantages and potential considerations. On one hand, for those who regularly visit the dog park, getting vaccinations done during a typical outing can be incredibly time-efficient. Parking is generally available around a public park area, which can be a relief in Los Angeles. However, being an outdoor, park-based setup means that the environment is less controlled than a traditional clinic. This can be either a benefit, offering a more open-air, less clinical feel, or a challenge, especially for pets who may be easily distracted or anxious in a bustling public space. It also suggests that their operations might be limited to specific days or hours, aligning with typical park visitation times. For California locals, this "on-the-go" veterinary service offers a distinct alternative to traditional clinic visits, emphasizing convenience for specific preventative needs.
Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake, California, primarily focuses on essential preventative care services, specifically vaccinations and microchipping. Based on available information and typical offerings of low-cost mobile or pop-up clinics, their services include:
- Pet Vaccinations: They offer core vaccinations vital for dogs and cats. For dogs, this typically includes:
- Rabies: A legally required vaccine in California, protecting against a fatal viral disease.
- DAP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus): Often combined, these protect against highly contagious and severe viral diseases. The "Dap-parvovirus + lepto" mentioned suggests a combination vaccine that also includes Leptospirosis.
- Leptospirosis: A non-core vaccine often recommended for dogs with outdoor exposure, protecting against a bacterial disease transmissible to humans.
- Bordetella (Kennel Cough): A non-core vaccine recommended for dogs who frequent dog parks, boarding kennels, or grooming facilities.
- Microchipping: A permanent form of identification crucial for reuniting lost pets with their owners.
- Parasite Treatment: While not explicitly detailed, it's common for such clinics to offer basic deworming or flea/tick prevention products.
It is important for pet owners to understand that some vaccines, particularly for puppies and kittens, require booster shots to provide full and lasting immunity. This means multiple visits might be necessary to complete a vaccination series, a point of contention for some past clients.
Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake, California, presents a mixed bag of features and highlights, as reflected in varied customer experiences. While some aspects are highly commendable, others warrant careful consideration for prospective clients.
- High Professionalism and Knowledgeable Veterinarian: One significant highlight is the presence of a "highly professional and knowledgeable" veterinarian. This indicates that the medical expertise is present for accurate vaccination administration and advice.
- Friendly and Helpful Staff (Varies): One review praises the staff as "friendly and helpful," suggesting positive interactions for some clients. However, another review noted that "the vet techs are not gentle and are very rough with the animals," indicating inconsistency in this area.
- Efficiency and Speed of Service: For clients who had a smooth experience, the process was "in and out quickly, with everything we needed taken care of." This efficiency can be a major draw for busy pet owners.
- Convenient Paper and Email Documentation: The provision of "a paper copy of the receipt and automatic email reminders" is a valuable feature for record-keeping and ensuring clients remember follow-up visits.
- Effectiveness of Vaccines and Microchips: One customer reported "No issues with the vaccines or microchip at all," which is the ultimate goal of these services – successful prevention and identification.
- Outdoor/Park Location: While not explicitly a highlight for all, the location at Silverlake Off-Leash Dog Park offers a unique, less clinical environment that might be preferred by some pets and owners, and it adds convenience for dog park regulars.
However, there are notable areas of concern highlighted by reviews:
- Lack of Upfront Transparency Regarding Boosters and Total Costs: A major point of contention is the alleged failure to clearly communicate that many vaccines require booster shots and that the advertised price is often per dose, not for the full series. This can lead to unexpected higher costs (e.g., $30 for a vaccine becomes $60 with booster) and additional visits, which is frustrating for customers who feel misled.
- Perception of Pricing Not Being "Cheaper": One reviewer asserts that the total cost, including boosters, is "not any cheaper than going to an actual vet clinic," which directly contradicts the implied "low cost" benefit. This suggests that while individual doses may seem affordable, the overall investment might be comparable elsewhere.
- Inconsistent Handling of Animals: The complaint about vet techs being "not gentle and very rough with the animals" is a serious concern for pet comfort and well-being during a procedure.
- Requirement for Multiple Visits for Boosters: The necessity of "two visits" for a complete vaccination series, coupled with the lack of upfront communication, can be inconvenient and unexpected.

Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake, California, offers a specialized service that can be suitable for locals in Los Angeles, particularly those seeking specific preventative care like vaccinations and microchipping at a potentially more accessible price point than a full-service veterinary hospital. For pet owners who prioritize convenience and rapid service for routine shots, and who are comfortable with an outdoor, walk-up clinic setting, this service can be a good fit. The positive feedback highlights professionalism from the veterinarian and efficient handling of appointments, with helpful documentation.
However, prospective clients in California should be aware of the key considerations regarding transparency around booster shots and total costs. It's crucial to inquire upfront about whether a vaccine requires a booster and what the complete cost for the full series will be. While the name implies "low cost," the overall expense for a complete vaccination course might be comparable to a traditional vet, albeit broken down differently. For those who are prepared for this, and whose pets handle quick, outdoor interactions well, Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake serves as a valuable local resource for essential preventative health measures, making critical protections more accessible within the Los Angeles community.

Low Cost Pet Vaccines of Silver Lake, California Reviews
10/10 would recommend this service to my friends and family. The veterinarian was highly professional and knowledgeable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We were in and out quickly, with everything we needed taken care of. We got a paper copy of the receipt and automatic email reminders as well! No issues with the vaccines or microchip at all.

For example, Dap-parvovirus + lepto is advertised as $30, but a booster is required, bringing the total to $60. Similarly, Bordetella is advertised as $25, but the actual cost with the booster is $50. If you plan to get the three main vaccines: Rabies, dap-parvovirus + lepto, and Bordetella, the total will be $130, and you'll have to make two visits (the second visit is for the booster shots). The vet techs are not gentle and are very rough with the animals. Overall, it's not a great experience. I wish they would be upfront and transparent about the costs and requirements before people pay for the vaccines. It’s not any cheaper than going to an actual vet clinic.
Oct 06, 2024 · J WGreat service all around! It’s so convenient that they have different locations in the LA area. My dogs LOVE the staff. Service is great and they always keep the line moving. Prices are fair and you can tell the staff really cares about your pets. Would absolutely recommend. Many of my friends and family have started to take their pets here and everyone has nothing but great things to say.
Oct 02, 2023 · Marlene LopezThe man was rude to me for no reason because I had a question about the leptospirosis and Why did I have to pay $25 for the second dose part that’s required 2-4 weeks after the first vaccination?. Nobody had explained to me the first time that I would have to pay a the second time because Leptospirosis is in 2 parts so I ended up paying TWICE. I wasn’t rude at all to them just asking for clarification and I didn’t bring my wallet left it in the car because I thought both parts were included when I paid the initial $25. So I obliged had to leave the line to get my wallet go to the atm down the street and make line again. When it was my dogs turn he didnt treat my dog with kindness when he saw my dog was scared. He was too rough with the injections and actually made my dog cry. It’s not worth it if you’re going to make it hurt for my dog and not even seem to care or even pretend to care. I’ve been to several other places where they are so gentle my dogs don’t even feel it. He did not show emotion or empathy afterwards. Very disappointing NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN The point was to have low cost vaccines right?and ended costing $50 and for 2 dogs that $100 for just 1 vaccine each , about the same or more than a real vet clinic!* found another clinic that’s further away but worth the drive and for like $80-$100 they give your dog all the vaccines they need to be up to date and they were nicer too and actually put it in a computer system not just a paper that can be lost. And all the staff there were so kind to my dog and petted her and gave her treats.
Jan 31, 2024 · Jay EssThey don’t accept every breed, you have to show up, and hope for the best they take your dog. They don’t have breeds list posted on site, you’ll have to gamble and go see for yourself and possibly get turned away like we did. My poor baby just wanted his shots so he can start going on walks, and they turned him away because we was a Rottweiler
