DO NOT TRUST MAPLE HILLS BOARDING – Dishonest, Unprofessional, and Potentially DangerousI dropped off my healthy, lean cat at Maple Hills Boarding for 6 days. Before the stay, I was told they would provide food. Later, I was informed I’d be charged if I didn’t bring my own—which was fine. I packed 14 cans of high-end wet food, a new large bag of dry food, 12 Churu-style treats, and 3 small bags of treats, clearly meant to be given occasionally. When I picked her up, I was immediately alarmed. She looked visibly heavier, bloated, and uncomfortable. Once home, it was clear she had gained a significant amount of weight. I then noticed that almost none of her food was returned—just two unopened cans and three empty treat bags. That’s it.I called the facility to ask why the rest of her food wasn’t returned, and instead of concern or an apology, I was met with attitude, rudeness, and zero accountability. I was told to drive back and pick it up. When we did, they handed my husband a mostly empty bag of dry food (less than a quarter remaining) and insisted that was all we had provided. They even claimed she was only fed half a can per day—which is absolutely not believable given her physical condition and the amount of food not returned. It says quantity 14 cans received on her receipt. My cat was dangerously overfed, and I’m now taking her to our regular vet to have the weight gain professionally documented. Not only was she overfed to the point of discomfort, but the staff blatantly lied about the food provided and how she was cared for.Maple Hills showed a shocking lack of professionalism, honesty, and basic animal care standards. If you’re considering boarding your pet here, let this be your warning. I would never trust them again with any animal, and I urge other pet parents to take this experience seriously before choosing this facility. This is not ok, my bill was also $206.50 - Jennifer Young

Maple Hills Veterinary Hospital, located in Allentown, aims to be that partner, offering a range of services designed to support the health and well-being of your beloved animal companions. This article provides local users with an overview of what to expect from Maple Hills Veterinary Hospital, covering its services and key features, while also acknowledging diverse customer experiences to help you make an informed decision for your pet’s care.

When choosing a veterinary practice, pet owners often seek a combination of professional medical expertise, compassionate care, and transparent communication. Maple Hills Veterinary Hospital strives to meet these expectations, focusing on building lasting relationships with pets and their families. One highly positive review highlights this commitment to compassionate care: "Dr Abby has been absolutely wonderful. She show compassion and listens to your concerns. She does what is absolutely best for your pet. It is a wonderful knowing I can count in her and anyone in the practice." This feedback underscores the dedicated and empathetic approach that many pet owners seek in a veterinary professional, emphasizing a focus on the pet's best interests and strong client-vet relationships. However, it is also important for local users to be aware of all perspectives. A very critical review regarding boarding services raises concerns about professionalism, transparency, and animal care standards during a specific boarding incident. This particular experience, involving alleged overfeeding and miscommunication regarding food provisions, resulted in a negative outcome for the boarded cat and a frustrated owner. While this review primarily concerns boarding and not direct veterinary medical care, it is a significant piece of customer feedback that prospective clients should consider when evaluating all services offered. This article aims to present a balanced view, allowing you to weigh the various aspects of the hospital's offerings and customer experiences.

The aim of such a location is to serve the local community efficiently, ensuring that comprehensive veterinary care is readily available to pet owners throughout the region.

Maple Hills Veterinary Hospital is designed to provide a range of essential veterinary services to keep your pets healthy and happy. While specific details on every service are not exhaustively provided, typical offerings at a full-service veterinary hospital include:

  • Routine Wellness Examinations: Comprehensive check-ups, often annually, to assess overall health, detect early signs of illness, and discuss preventative measures. These are crucial for maintaining long-term pet health.
  • Vaccinations: Administration of core and lifestyle-dependent vaccines to protect pets against common and serious infectious diseases. Tailored vaccination plans are usually developed based on the pet's age, species, and risk factors.
  • Parasite Prevention and Control: Programs for the prevention and treatment of internal and external parasites, including fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal worms, which are vital for both pet health and public health.
  • Diagnostic Services: Utilization of various tools to diagnose illnesses and injuries. This commonly includes in-house laboratory testing (e.g., blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams) and imaging services like radiography (X-rays).
  • General Surgery: Performance of common surgical procedures, such as spaying and neutering, as well as other soft tissue surgeries when necessary. Surgical procedures typically involve pre-anesthetic blood work and careful monitoring.
  • Dental Care: Professional dental cleanings, scaling, polishing, and extractions to prevent and treat periodontal disease, which can significantly impact a pet's overall health.
  • Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets for different life stages, specific medical conditions, and weight management to ensure pets receive optimal nutrition.
  • Senior Pet Care: Specialized attention and management plans for aging pets, focusing on addressing age-related conditions, pain management, and maintaining their quality of life.
  • Microchipping: Provision of permanent identification for pets, significantly increasing the chances of reunification if they become lost.
  • Referrals to Specialists: When a pet requires highly specialized care beyond the scope of general practice (e.g., advanced surgery, oncology, internal medicine), the hospital typically facilitates referrals to board-certified veterinary specialists.
  • Boarding Services: As indicated by a customer review, Maple Hills Veterinary Hospital offers boarding for pets, providing a place for animals to stay when their owners are away. *Note: Pet owners should thoroughly discuss feeding protocols and all boarding expectations in detail, and ideally provide their own food, to avoid any potential misunderstandings.*
