Meredith Animal Hospital, like any reputable full-service veterinary clinic, provides a broad spectrum of services designed to address the comprehensive health needs of your beloved pets. While specific details should always be confirmed directly with the hospital, their offerings, particularly with veterinarians like Dr. Kappes on staff, typically include:
- Comprehensive Wellness Exams: Routine physical check-ups are fundamental for preventive care, early detection of health issues, and establishing a baseline for your pet's health. This includes tailored vaccination schedules and parasite prevention.
- Pet Dental Care: As highlighted by a client review concerning Dexter, advanced dental care, including teeth extractions, is a key service. This encompasses routine cleanings, polishing, and treatment for periodontal disease, crucial for overall systemic health.
- Diagnostic Services: State-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities, which typically include in-house laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams) for rapid results, and advanced imaging services like digital X-rays and potentially ultrasound for accurate internal diagnostics. Some facilities may offer specialist consultations for radiology.
- Soft Tissue Surgery: Common surgical procedures such as spaying, neutering, lump removals, and other soft tissue surgeries are performed with an emphasis on safety, pain management, and attentive post-operative care.
- Orthopedic Surgery: While not always offered by every general practice, some hospitals, like Meriden Animal Hospital (which uses "MAH" and has a similar service philosophy to what might be expected from a leading Lakes Region clinic), may have capabilities or partnerships for more extensive orthopedic procedures like ACL tear repair or fracture repair.
- Pain Management: Developing and implementing effective strategies to manage both acute and chronic pain, significantly improving your pet's comfort and quality of life.
- Nutritional Counseling: Guidance on appropriate diets to support your pet's specific health needs, including weight management, dietary sensitivities, or requirements for certain medical conditions.
- Puppy and Kitten Care: Specialized care plans tailored for young animals, encompassing initial vaccinations, deworming, and essential advice on growth, development, and early socialization.
- Senior Pet Care: Focused attention on the unique health challenges of aging pets, including managing chronic conditions, monitoring for age-related diseases, and ensuring comfort and mobility.
- Microchipping: A vital service for permanent identification, significantly increasing the chances of reuniting with a lost pet.
- End-of-Life Care: Providing compassionate support and guidance during the difficult process of saying goodbye to a beloved pet, with sensitive options for euthanasia.
Meredith Animal Hospital possesses several distinctive features and highlights that make it a highly desirable choice for pet owners in New Hampshire:
- Exceptional Handling of Anxious Pets: This is a profound highlight. The glowing review specifically mentioning Dr. Kappes's ability to calmly handle a "very skiddish" German Shepherd, enabling vaccinations, nail clippings, and blood draws "without the usual chaos," is a powerful testament to their unique skill set in managing pet anxiety. This empathetic approach provides immense relief to pet owners.
- Highly Compassionate and Professional Team: Both Dr. Kappes and the entire staff are consistently praised for being "kind, professional," "helpful," and "amazing." This indicates a consistent level of high-quality, client-focused service across the board.
- Thorough and Detailed Explanations: The review about Dexter's dental procedure highlights Dr. Kappes's ability to make the process "easy and stress-free" and to ensure Dexter "recovered quickly and is doing great." This suggests clear communication and effective treatment plans.
- Positive Client Outcomes: The rapid recovery and excellent post-treatment well-being of pets, as seen with Dexter, demonstrate the effectiveness of their medical interventions and care.
- Building Pet Trust: The ability to foster a "calm dog" in a typically stressful environment like a vet's office means they are skilled at building trust with their animal patients, making future visits easier.
- Comprehensive Care Focus: While praised for their gentle touch, the hospital also provides essential services like complex dental procedures and general wellness, indicating a well-rounded approach to veterinary medicine.
- Dedication to Pet Comfort: The underlying theme in positive reviews is the priority placed on the pet's emotional and physical comfort during their visit.

Meredith Animal Hospital Reviews
We have had 3 other vets at other facilities to take care of our German Shepard and Dr Kappes was amazing. Far better than any of the others. Our dog is very skiddish and shakes and barks and cries when she goes to the vet, NOT with Dr Kappes!!! She knew exactly how to handle her and there was just a calm dog. I couldn’t believe it, I could have cried from happiness, it was awesome seeing my dog not scared. Many thanks to the Dr. for once my girl could have shots, nails clipped and blood drawn without the usual chaos. She will be going here from now on. The staff is very helpful also!!
Jun 10, 2025 · Allura BeckerDr. Kappes took amazing care of my dog Dexter when he needed several teeth pulled. She was kind, professional, and made the whole process easy and stress-free. Dexter recovered quickly and is doing great. I’m so grateful for the excellent care and highly recommend her and her staff at Meredith Animal Hospital!
Jun 18, 2025 · Corrie HempelDr.Kappes has been nothing short of amazing! As well as her staff! Our cat had a lump and she got us in fast and knew exactly the issue. She has given me more information about the procedures and what to expect than any vet I have ever used! I can not recommend her enough! One of the few remaining small town locally owned vets left in the area and far exceeds the corporation owned vets.
Jun 12, 2025 · Tiffany GagnonBrought my beautiful Doberman Shepherd in to have her back molar tooth pulled, which involve a complex oral surgery of removing three roots and a fractured tooth from chewing on a bone which fractured the tooth. Word ofadvice : don’t let your dogs chew on hard bones! Had many many dogs, but this was the first time a bone fractured a tooth a young 2 1/2-year-old dog.I called hospitals in the area that had very high reviews, but nobody could take my dog, and her tooth was infected. The Meredith animal hospital was able to take her in and give her a full check up and do the surgery the next day. Dr. Kappes, The veterinarian who recently bought the practice was amazing. She explained every process of the surgery procedure and drew it out for me on paper and explained The pros and cons. She gave me a very fair estimate. The surgery was a huge success, and my dog is fine. The staff are friendly and loving towards my pet and everyone treated me am my dog Kikiwith respect. It was one of the better experiences I’ve had with vets in years and I’ve had many many dogs and cats. I would highly recommend Meredith animal Hospital and the new vet that just purchased it.. She’s caring, loving, smart, and attentive. The staff is wonderful in loving and caring. It’s just a mile or two past job lot and easy to get to. Highly recommend.
