Neel Veterinary Hospital Introduce
For pet owners across the Oklahoma City metro area, **Neel Veterinary Hospital** is a name synonymous with comprehensive, round-the-clock pet health services. Serving as a vital resource for both routine wellness and the most critical emergencies, Neel is one of the premier animal hospitals in the region, offering an unparalleled depth of veterinary medicine and specialized technology. They are classified as a full-service animal hospital, a 24-hour emergency veterinarian service, and a general practice vet clinic, making them a one-stop destination for the lifetime health needs of dogs, cats, and a wide variety of exotic animals.
The hospital’s mission centers on providing exceptional care, from the routine annual exams to life-saving surgical interventions. A key distinction of Neel Veterinary Hospital is its unwavering commitment to being available. They famously boast that they have **not closed their doors for a single day in over twenty years**, providing pet owners in Oklahoma with the ultimate peace of mind. This dedication ensures that no matter when a pet emergency strikes—day, night, weekend, or holiday—a fully staffed team of veterinarians and technicians is ready to triage and treat.
This commitment is profoundly felt by clients. One touching review recounts how the skill and rapid action of the team, specifically mentioning Dr. Lavender, **quite literally saved** a German Shepherd’s life after a life-threatening stomach flip. The hospital's ability to move quickly, communicate constantly with the owners 24/7, and provide compassionate updates, including pictures during a critical ICU stay, showcases the blend of high-level skill and deep empathy that defines the Neel experience.
Neel Veterinary Hospital is centrally and conveniently located in Oklahoma City, making it accessible from many parts of the metro area, particularly for those in urgent situations. The facility is situated at:
- **Address:** 2700 N MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73127, USA
The hospital is committed to ensuring that all clients, regardless of mobility, can easily access their pet’s care. The facility features excellent accessibility accommodations, confirming its role as a resource for the entire community:
- **Wheelchair accessible entrance:** Ensuring easy entry and exit for clients and their pets.
- **Wheelchair accessible parking lot:** Convenient, designated parking spaces near the entrance.
- **Wheelchair accessible restroom:** Available on-site for comfort and convenience.

However, for emergencies, the hospital welcomes **walk-ins 24 hours a day, 365 days a year**. They have a policy of **no emergency fees EVER**, an important consideration for families facing unexpected medical crises. However, as one client review noted, while serious emergencies are prioritized, those arriving for minor or less critical urgent care issues may experience significant wait times, even at night, due to the continuous flow of critical cases that must be seen immediately.

The primary reason for choosing Neel is the absolute assurance of their **24-hour, 365-day availability** for any and all pet emergencies, backed by a fully staffed **Intensive Care Unit** and a comprehensive suite of advanced diagnostic tools like CT and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. While a noted frustration from some clients is the potential for long waits during minor urgent care visits, this is a common characteristic of any busy, high-level emergency hospital that must prioritize critical, life-threatening cases first. The skilled team's ability to save pets from conditions like gastric dilation and volvulus (stomach flip) and provide seamless, constant updates during a pet's ICU stay showcases their dedication. Neel Veterinary Hospital Reviews
- Neel’s Veterinary Hospital and Dr. Lavender quite literally saved our German Shepherd’s life! Our boy, Axl Rose’s stomach flipped..something we’ve always feared with deep chested dogs…and we thankfully recognized the signs right away. We called Neel’s, and they told us to bring him in immediately. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Lavender and the incredible staff moved quickly, walked us through every option, and got him into surgery without hesitation. Within 48 hours, we had our goofy, lovable Axl back home where he belongs.Their care went above and beyond and they kept in constant communication, updated us 24/7, and even sent pictures of him during his ICU stay so we knew how he was doing every step of the way. We will forever be grateful for their skill, compassion, and dedication. If you want the very best for your fur family, we cannot recommend Dr. Lavender and the team at Neel’s enough! - We arrived at 930 pm with our 2 year old Jack Russell having nausea/vomiting and abdominal discomfort. We were there almost 4 hours, 2 of which were in the waiting room just waiting to be seen. Finally, when we were put in a room, the nurse took a look at her and then we had to wait another hour for the Dr to come in. The remainder of the time was us waiting for them to give her a shot, get her prescriptions and the final check out. I feel like if you’re going to be a 24 hour clinic that sees minor and major emergencies, then they should be better staffed, especially for the cost. Overall, the Dr was very knowledgeable, helpful and everyone was apologetic and very friendly. I decided to do this review out of my own personal experience, not to criticize, but to let people know my frustration and to warn others not to expect a quick in and out. July 08 · Jami Hitt
- I do not have enough things great to say about Neel veterinary if you’re in need of someone who is a decent human being and Actually loves pets and is doing their job for the right reason. This is the place to go.I Never had the ability to share this before now but shortly before this past Christmas we had to rush my Great Dane to the vet for some serious symptoms she was old about 11 or 12. We had rescued her from the Humane Society when she was about five she was a foster fail and I could tell you why from the day I met her I knew this dog was gonna leave a lasting impact and not only on my life, but the world and I can promise you she did just that sadly on this day our poor pup could not be saved and we had to let her go but I wanna sit in here and say that I want to thank the neel veterinary team that helped us that day and all of you know who you are but you guys are the most incredible people I’ve ever met and wanna thank you for treating Us like decent human beings, knowing that we were in a situation that we would run from at any cost if we could and to the doctor that held my hand the entire time well also cry your eyes out the entire time some would call it unprofessional however I would call it having a heart I know that god sent you to me during that time of need. I would highly recommend Neel in any pet situation whether it’s a simple wellness check or you need someone to be there when your world is falling apart, and your best friend is having to cross the rainbow bridge. I can promise you that you will not regret it. I want to thank you all again for being there for my family. Never forget my sweet pup as she loves you from heaven above and remember to always remember the moments that come and go and remind you of why you do your job you guys are incredible people. I apologize for the long review, but after months of sitting on things of thinking, I just had to say something. August 21 · Shawntae Briskey
- Maybe we were both in the wrong idk 🤷🏻♀️ but food for thought;I actually have an update. The worker Delicia, has horrible customer service. I had noticed after I came home that I didn’t receive the eye ointment for my dog, that was paid for (to our understanding) well like any normal human would do. I called and explained to them that I didn’t receive something that I had paid for. And initially I was talking to somebody else, then got sent to Delicia, well she presumed to tell me that we didn’t get charged for it, and they sent me through the ringer for 10-12 minutes I was calm and explained the same thing over and over again. When DELICIA got on the phone she failed to tell me that we got charged twice for the visit, and that the dr refunded me. She decided to argue with me, then asked me why are you yelling? Then HANGS UP ON ME. Well I have been calm saying the same things over again. It’s get aggravating. So I decided to go up there and that’s when she decided to inform us that we got refunded cause of them way over charging us. But if I wouldn’t have called. They would have just kept the money. This girl doesn’t deserve a job. Or needs a really good teaching lesson. But Skylar is absolutely amazing. More workers need to be like her!! And a side note, you never know who your gonna be on the phone with. So I’d consider rethinking your strategies. Cause I pay for your service and the customer is always rightThat’s the reason I gave 3 stars.. I was upset for a very good reason, and she handled it very unprofessionally.. if there is every a customer under distress, due to a mistake on the business part. You don’t argue, you learn to deescalate, and find the solution. But she failed to tell me very important information that she said she was tryin to tell me but the only thing she said was we didn’t get charged for it and even asked me to send a copy of the invoice. She had plenty of opportunities to tell me but decided to worsen the problem. And don’t ever ask me why I’m yelling or ever tell me to calm down. I know me and a whole bunch of other people in the world that it infuriates them even more.I will only EVER come back for the night shift people. They did such an amazing job. I love dr. Bays!!! My baby was having an allergic reaction to the busy bones. Scared me and my partner. We live in Norman and drove all the way up there. Worth the trip!! The first 2 pics are his face and eyes swollen. Major allergic reaction. Then not even 8 hrs later he is almost 100% back to normal. I am very grateful for the staff and the doctors. I will definitely use them for any more emergencies (hopefully not)! August 09 · Ashlea Taylor
- In April our dog chased a rabbit into a bush and ended up with severe injuries to her eye. One eye removal, multiple infections, a final major surgery, and three months later she is finally healing, happy and back to herself. Both Dr. Lavender and Dr. French were absolute answers to prayer during the long process. Their guidance with her care and the decisions we had to make was priceless and I'm not sure I could have handled it without having Dr. Lavender as a constant resource to make sure I was doing the right thing with Piper's care at home. Neel Vet has always been our go-to for "unexpected care" and now more than ever I have an appreciation for the level of concern they show for both our pets and us as caregivers. I could write a novel, but please see our happy goofy one-eyed girl as the best recommendation I could give. August 13 · Beth Boren
