Dec 30, 2023 · Jessie FarrellGreat service. They took care of my kitty, answered all my questions, and called me to follow up on her spaying surgery to make sure she was doing well. The receptionist was also very kind. I would recommend this place for sure.
Nov 12, 2024 · Monica EsperanteThe vet tech was wonderful and handled our pets well. However, that was the only positive. We recently moved to the area and they wouldn’t make an appointment without records, which I understand but they could only receive them by fax and not email so I had my old vet email them to me, printed them and took them in person and made the appointments. I had 2:30 in my calendar which I wrote in while at the office. We showed up at 2:25 and they said we were ten minutes late and they would only see two of our four pets that had appointments. The vet barely examined our dog and cat and didn’t explain anything she was doing. Given our new home compared to city life our dog probably should have had Lyme and Lepto and didn’t need the bordetella since we no longer board her or visit dog parks. Our cat has been on thyroid meds for years and she did the senior bloodwork which we get annually but would only give us a months prescription. Now she requires more bloodwork before doing any refills. I understand after talking to the tech that she wants to check the dosage but none of that was explained by the vet at the appointment and what was an annual $200 visit in DC would be close to $1000 for an 18 year old cat that just needed thyroid pills refilled so he could live out his life in comfort. We made it clear when scheduling the appointment that we didn’t want heroic measures and prolonging his life but it feels like she is taking advantage of the situation to do excessive testing on a cat that was not even sick. We took our other two pets that they would not see to another local vet and were much happier with the care and attention they received and will be taking this cat there too for any future needs. When I expressed my disappointment to the staff at North Fork they couldn’t care less and when I said I wasn’t prepared for an additional $200 bloodwork she practically hung up on me. If it was one thing I wouldn’t bother writing a bad review but between the schedule error, the failure to discuss locally recommended vaccines or clarify the need for bordetella, the failure to exam my dogs ears until I requested it and the failure to fully explain the treatment plan for the cat, I’m taking my business elsewhere no matter how great the vet tech was!
