Based on the typical services offered by a general veterinary hospital of this nature, and common expectations for pet care, AMC of Garner Veterinary Hospital likely provides a range of services to address the health needs of companion animals. These services generally include:
- Wellness and Preventive Care: This foundational aspect of pet health involves routine physical examinations, age-appropriate vaccination protocols to protect against common diseases, and comprehensive parasite control programs (covering fleas, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal parasites). Nutritional counseling is also typically offered to guide pet owners on appropriate diets for their pet's age, breed, and health status, contributing to overall well-being.
- Diagnostic Services: To accurately assess and diagnose pet health issues, veterinary hospitals commonly utilize diagnostic tools. This often includes in-house laboratory testing for immediate results (such as blood chemistry, complete blood counts, and urinalysis), as well as digital radiography (X-rays) for examining bones and internal organs. External laboratory services may also be utilized for more specialized tests.
- Dental Care: Oral health is a critical component of a pet's overall well-being. Services typically include professional dental cleanings (scaling and polishing) to remove plaque and tartar, extractions of diseased teeth, and other necessary dental procedures to prevent painful periodontal disease and related systemic health issues.
- Surgical Procedures: A variety of surgical services are commonly performed, including routine elective procedures like spaying and neutering, as well as soft tissue surgeries for mass removals, foreign body extraction, and other general surgical needs. Patient safety, pain management before, during, and after surgery, and careful post-operative monitoring are standard practices.
- Emergency and Urgent Care: While not a 24-hour emergency clinic, general veterinary hospitals are typically equipped to handle urgent medical situations and minor emergencies during their regular business hours, providing immediate attention to pets requiring prompt care. For after-hours emergencies, they would usually refer to a dedicated emergency veterinary hospital.
- Pain Management: To ensure pets live comfortable lives, veterinary clinics often offer various strategies for managing pain, whether it's acute pain from an injury or surgery, or chronic pain associated with conditions like arthritis. This may involve medication, therapeutic laser, or other supportive therapies.
- Microchipping: This vital service involves implanting a tiny microchip under the pet's skin, providing permanent identification that greatly increases the chances of a lost pet being safely reunited with their family.
- Pharmacy Services: Providing convenient access to necessary medications, preventatives, and prescription diets directly from the clinic, ensuring pets receive the correct treatments promptly.
- Senior Pet Care: As pets age, their health needs evolve. Clinics often provide specialized care plans for senior pets, focusing on early detection of age-related diseases, managing chronic conditions, and improving their quality of life through tailored diagnostics and supportive care.
Based on the provided customer reviews, AMC of Garner Veterinary Hospital has received mixed feedback, but certain aspects stand out as potential highlights, as well as areas that some clients have found challenging:
- Compassionate Individual Care (Dr. Roberts): At least one highly positive review specifically praises Dr. Roberts for being "professional and kind" and for going "out of her way to check on my senior kitty... That MEANS ALOT!" This indicates a strong individual commitment to patient care and follow-up, which is a significant highlight.
- Above and Beyond Service: The same reviewer explicitly changed their rating to 5 stars because the clinic (specifically Dr. Roberts) "went above and beyond," suggesting instances where exceptional effort is made for a pet's well-being.
- Potential for Personalized Attention: The positive review highlights a personal touch and genuine concern for a senior pet, which is highly valued by pet owners.
However, the subsequent reviews indicate some evolving challenges and less consistent experiences for other clients:
- Inconsistent Communication & Information: One client noted discrepancies between what was said verbally and what was recorded in records, and confusion regarding diet recommendations. This suggests potential issues in internal communication or client education consistency.
- Perceived Shift in Practice Philosophy: A long-term client observed a change in the clinic's "vibe" from compassionate and communicative to "money-grab, automated messaging, and a vet that is not nearly as communicative." This indicates a perceived decline in personalized care and an increase in transactional interactions.
- Automated & Generic Responses: The complaint about receiving an "automated message tailored for treatment of dogs" when inquiring about cat issues points to a lack of tailored communication and possibly a more generalized approach rather than specific, individualized advice.
- Challenges with Follow-up & Problem Resolution: The client canceling a follow-up due to "no new diet recommendations or other options were going to be offered" suggests a perceived lack of proactive problem-solving or exploration of alternatives for persistent issues.

AMC of Garner Veterinary Hospital Reviews
Professional and kind people here, my pet is treated well. Dr. Roberts went out of her way to check on my senior kitty and few days after her appointment. That MEANS ALOT! I changed to a 5 star review from a 4 star because they went above and beyond. I definitely recommend!!
Jun 03, 2025 · leena lassiterEdit to owner response: All cats had been seen by this doctor, and we had scheduled a follow up with the younger cat. A new diet was not recommended to my pet despite saying that after 3 weeks with no improvement, this would happen. I called and was told by the person who answered the phone that I was to continue with the diet for 8 weeks, despite her records saying otherwise. After seeing no new diet recommendations or other options were going to be offered, we canceled the follow up to find a new vet. The sheet was only explained to be for cats too after I had asked for clarification. The owner response is not aligned with the actual timeline of events.Really changed their ways of practice since I used to go to them. Back in 2018-2021, the Dr I worked with was compassionate, easy to talk to, and always willing to discuss the needs of my pets (who at the time were elderly). Now, the vibe is much more money-grab, automated messaging, and a vet that is not nearly as communicative. I inquired about a medical issue my cats are having (after multiple visits, diagnostics, and imaging) and received an automated message tailored for treatment of dogs...Such a shame, I used to sing all praise to this place but I'm going to have to find a new place for my pets.
May 05, 2025 · Victoria YauchWe moved from Florida to NC and I called several vet offices and selected AMC based on reviews and my conversation with staff. We have 3 dogs and a cat, all very different needs, ages, personalities and it can be a challenge for vets to accommodate us as we prefer to have separate appointments on different days because it's too hectic bringing them all in at once. From day 1 we have seen Dr. Roberts and she has been an absolute gem. From her care and attention to detail for our senior dog who is skittish and snappy at times, we have seen her take the time to earn our boy's trust and make sure that he is always eager to see her and the staff. Our senior suffered an emergency recently and I know I should have taken him to an emergency vet, but Dr Roberts squeezed us in (with a fee, thank you!) but she also realized that an emergency vet would not have had our dog's trust and patience, so she took the extra time and care to ensure our boy was comfortable and made sure that he got the care he needed. She has seen me cry more than once with some family/personal issues we have going on and every time I come here it's like a breath of fresh air to know my pets are in good hands and she will do what's needed and nothing more (the belly rubs are free). We cannot thank Dr Roberts enough for all that she does for our fur family! Also, shout out to stylish little Monty in his sweater for letting me pet him when I needed a little extra fur loving while checking out! :)
Apr 16, 2025 · Christina PThis is a great office, full of kind people who care about your pets like they’re their own. It’s clean, cozy, and they are very good about ensuring pets are not scared or uncomfortable. I absolutely trust my fur babies in their hands.
Jun 17, 2025 · Josie PascheIt will be my fur baby first and last visit here. Because, I can already see the love of money is more important than anything else. My household is flooded with the stomach bug, and Monday morning was a tough morning for me. As I was trying to get two of my children off to school and getting the third one ready for his doctors appointment. I also was having some serious an uncontrollable bowel movements as well. Then it dawned on my fur baby had an appointment here the next day. I hurried up and called … no answer on the phone… so I sent a via text message in hopes to be able to reschedule the appointment. After already paying $70.00 deposit for the appointment. I would have to forfeit that money and pay an additional $70.00 for another appointment. I am still blown away for the lack of compassion of this place. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE… God forbid something happens and you will be S.O.L. dealing with this place.
