Northwest Veterinary Hospital Introduce
For pet families in Urbandale and the greater Des Moines area, finding a veterinary hospital that offers both high-quality medical services and a truly personal, low-stress experience for their pet is a priority. **Northwest Veterinary Hospital, P.C.** in Urbandale, IA, has been a pillar of the community since 1960, providing comprehensive and highly attentive care for canine and feline companions. Today, led by Dr. Pam Doubek, the hospital continues its long tradition of combining advanced medical diagnostics and surgery with a deeply compassionate, family-friendly approach.
Northwest Veterinary Hospital operates on the principle of providing consistent, personalized care. This means that Dr. Pam, who has owned the practice since taking over from previous owners, strives to be the same doctor your pet sees at every visit, fostering a familiar bond that aids in better, more consistent diagnoses and treatment. The staff's commitment to patient comfort is repeatedly highlighted by local clients, noting the team is **extremely knowledgeable, capable, responsive, and so kind**. They go above and beyond, even in non-medical ways—like going to the grocery store to source special food for a sick cat—to ensure the well-being of the animals under their care. The focus is not just on treating an illness, but on building a relationship for a pet’s entire lifetime, from the **Puppy And Kitten** stage through **Geriatric Care** for **Senior Pets**.
The hospital is conveniently situated at **7507 Dennis Dr, Urbandale, IA 50322, USA**. Located in what was historically the northwest section of Urbandale, the clinic is now centrally positioned within this busy Des Moines suburb. Its location makes it easily accessible for residents of Urbandale, Windsor Heights, Clive, and other nearby Central Iowa communities.
Recognizing the stress that a veterinary visit can cause, the hospital has carefully designed its facility and operations to be as accessible and low-stress as possible for both pets and owners:
- **Physical Accessibility:** The facility is well-equipped to accommodate all visitors, featuring a **Wheelchair accessible entrance**, a **Wheelchair accessible parking lot**, and a **Wheelchair accessible restroom**. A standard **Restroom** is also available.
- **Patient Comfort:** The clinic is lauded for a low-stress environment, where the waiting room is **never crowded**, and most wait times are reportedly less than five minutes. They utilize separate entrance and exit doors and separate check-in and check-out areas to minimize pet-to-pet exposure and reduce stress.
- **Feline-Specific Design:** A significant feature is the dedicated **Separate Exam And Hospital Ward For Cats**, which includes a window perch with a hummingbird feeder, cat toys, catnip, and the use of calming Feliway pheromones. This makes the visit easier on the sometimes-anxious feline patient.
- **Canine Comfort:** The doggie exam room is large, featuring an electric lift table/scale for larger dogs and a computer system to instantly display diagnostics like **Digital Radiography**. Many dogs are reported to pull their owners IN the entrance, suggesting a positive association with the clinic staff.
- **Planning Your Visit:** **Appointments recommended** is the standard protocol to ensure dedicated time for each patient, though the hospital generally offers same-day appointments when necessary.
Northwest Veterinary Hospital provides a full spectrum of small animal care, with a strong focus on internal medicine, advanced diagnostics, and surgical services. Their commitment to personalized care is reflected in the wide range of in-house capabilities:
- **Preventive Care & Wellness:**- Thorough **Physical Examination** for all stages of life, including tailored **Puppy And Kitten** wellness programs and **Senior Pet** programs.

- **Commitment to Feline Patients:** The dedicated, low-stress approach for cats, including the separate exam room and hospital ward, makes this a standout clinic for cat owners in the area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- Dr. Pam, and the entire team and Northwest Veterinary Hospital, have taken excellent care of my dog, Lulu, while she's dealt with several very serious health issues. Everyone there is extremely knowledgeable, capable, responsive, and so kind to Lulu and me. The waiting room is never crowded, which makes it easier on Lulu to visit, the clinic is spotless, and we never have to wait to be seen. I highly recommend Dr. Pam and Northwest Veterinary Hospital. - Dr Pam and her staff are so amazing and kind. I have had numerous emergency situations with my animals and the care and service they have offered honestly makes me want to cry because I am so grateful for them. There are cheaper vets, but there aren’t a lot of vets who will go to the grocery store to buy a variety of foods to try to get a sick cat to eat. I have been their client for almost 10 years and have always had excellent and caring service. August 05 · Lara Newsom
- Extremely satisfied with my whole experience with this clinic and all the staff that work there. I'm terribly allergic to cats but they do such a good job of cleaning that my allergies have never been a problem there. The Vet is very easy to get in to see. I have been able to squeeze in between appointments on any given day with a last minute notice (dog urgency). I've been a customer with my two dogs there for over five years now and my dogs are always happy when we pull into the parking lot to see 'Dr. Pam'. April 24 · Larry Johnson
- I have a normal vet I go to but they didn't offer the procedures I needed ( Ultrasound & x-ray). So I went to NW Vet and the staff is so helpful. So I scheduled an appointment to get my female dog and ultrasound to see if she was pregnant. As soon as I walked in the door and my dog came around the corner. The vet looked at her and said yes, she is pregnant. If you would like to, you can pay me the $100 and I can confirm this with an ultrasound. Or you can trust me and come back in 1 weeks will do an X-ray and I could firm how many puppies she has. Which would save me a 100 bucks over all. A Couple weeks before Christmas. I could definitely use an extra 100 bucks in my pocket. They were so nice and helpful that I am moving my dog to this veterinary clinic! January 02 · Big “Liljon78” Jon
