Powellsville Pet Clinic Reviews
Dr. Powell is the sweetest vet I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She really cares about people and animals. She is also very knowledgeable. I’m very thankful to have her as a vet! She saved my ND goat Honey when she had a kid really really stuck this past kidding season. We now bring our cats and dogs here as well. The staff at this clinic are very helpful and caring. They are always busy, but do their best for every patient.
July 29 · Kaitlin VasterlingI took my dog in for his yearly shots. The vet brings five valves (shots) into the exam room. At the in of the visit I get his updated shot record. However, when reviewing his updated record I only see that he was only given four shots not five. I inquired about why only four shots were documented not five. I was not given explanation. Would you be concern??Thanks a lot for the response, it tells a lot about who you are.😉
July 08 · jjHorrible experience at this clinic. At the first sign of our 4 year old lab not wanting to eat and having bloody diarrhea we called Dr Powell office. We brought our lab to her and they wanted to keep her for the day for observation. We agreed and left her the care of this clinic. We got a call late afternoon that same day that our lab was ready for pick up. We went to get her and were told; and billed for fluids supposedly administered (no sign of IV on our dog) a fecal exam, and bloodwork. The clinic Dr prescribed antibiotics for our pet and told us she had a bad infection. The Dr clearly stated to us that the pills will help her feel better within 48 hrs. Our dog still wouldn’t eat and barely drink, we were having to FORCE these antibiotics down to “help” her. It was a traumatic experience for all of us, especially our beloved pet. We called this clinic back 48 hrs after the first visit, stating she still wasn’t eating or drinking normally and that she had now vomitted. We were told to bring her back. We did. They kept her again, this time for only about 4 hours. Upon picking her up we were told about and billed for 2 large X-ray images, more fluids ( still no sign of IV input) and more bloodwork. We were given two more prescriptions (stronger antibiotics) The Dr stated this was a very bad infection and these antibiotics were pertinent in our dogs healing. The Dr gave different options for us forcing the pills into her. After 24 hours and agonizing over making our dog take these pills, seeing no change we called Elizabeth City Emergency Veterinary Services. Within 1/2 hour after being there we were told our pet was in critical condition and needed immediate care. We agreed. We handed the Dr the paperwork from Powell to show what had been diagnosed and prescribed etc. The Dr took two large views and some blood work… this time she had the hair shaved from her front paw so they could draw the blood and give fluids if needed. We sat scared, and desperate for answers. The Dr came back after 20 mins and showed us the two large views … our beloved pet was full of cancer. She had been suffering for over a week. That night we said goodbye to our dog as the Drs put her to final rest. My husband and I are left with this guilt of thinking we were helping by making our pet take these pills prescribed by Dr Powell. Our last days with her, her last days; were filled with unnecessary stress, pain, and misunderstanding. She was just 4 ….. How does a vet do all those tests, including X-rays; and not see the cancer?? Well we asked and got 2 possible answers 1. The tests were never really done. OR 2. The vet needs to retire, because with the tests done in her clinic….. she couldn’t miss it… but did.
June 10 · Kellie GorhamAlways a pleasure. My dog has a fear of getting his nails trimmed. They are able to do it without causing him any unnecessary anxiety. Thanks again for taking care of Max.
May 05 · FrankDr. Powell and staff were wonderful even though our Dottie didn't make a very good first impression. She was able to do the surgery on day of consult.
