4.0
We came to Prism after learning that our baby Milo had stomatitis due to Feline calicivirus at just 6 months. He is a very special case and Prism treated him as such. Everyone is so kind and you definitely feel cared for. Julie is the sweetest receptionist and so welcoming. Yesenia always puts us at ease with her calm demeanor. Dr. Ford is the most attentive and caring vet that we’ve met so far. When Milo got all his teeth removed, we were so nervous. I really appreciated that Dr. Ford called us before the procedure and after. I especially appreciated the follow up email to check in on our baby. Our time with Prism has been nothing but exceptional and loving. We feel that they truly care about the pets that come see them.Hopefully we won’t have to come back to often due to flare ups (Milo is definitely tired of coming to the dentist lol) but we know that we are in good hands when we come. Our journey might be long but we are so happy that we chose to come to Prism. We truly appreciate everything that Prism has done for our baby and family 🩷 - Jasmine Cruz

This article will guide you through what makes Prism Veterinary Dentistry a premier choice for advanced oral care, offering a friendly yet professional insight into their commitment to pet well-being and client peace of mind.

Prism Veterinary Dentistry is not a general practice; it is a dedicated facility specializing exclusively in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery. This singular focus means they possess an elevated level of expertise, advanced equipment, and specialized protocols tailored to address a wide range of dental and oral conditions in pets. They understand that dental health is intricately linked to overall systemic health, and often, issues like stomatitis or tooth resorption can cause significant pain and impact a pet's quality of life. Their team, led by compassionate professionals like Dr. Ford, is committed to providing precise diagnoses and effective treatments, ensuring your pet’s comfort and swift recovery.

For New Yorkers, the value of a specialized clinic like Prism Veterinary Dentistry is immense. While your general veterinarian is essential for routine care, complex dental issues often require the expertise of a board-certified veterinary dentist or a practice with specialized training and equipment. Prism Veterinary Dentistry bridges this gap, offering a focused approach that provides advanced solutions for challenging oral conditions. Their dedication to clear communication, personalized care, and comprehensive follow-up ensures that both you and your pet feel supported throughout the treatment journey, providing invaluable peace of mind in the bustling city.

Location and Accessibility

Prism Veterinary Dentistry is conveniently located at 19 W 21st St, New York, NY 10010, USA. This prime address places the hospital in the Flatiron District of Manhattan, offering excellent accessibility for pet owners residing across Manhattan and easily reachable from other boroughs of New York City. West 21st Street is a well-known cross street, making the facility straightforward to locate within the city's grid.

The accessibility of Prism Veterinary Dentistry is a significant benefit for New York pet parents navigating the urban environment, especially when dealing with a pet requiring specialized care. Its central Manhattan location means it's easily reachable by various modes of transportation. It is typically within walking distance or a short subway ride from major transit hubs. For those relying on public transport, numerous subway lines (including the F, M, R, W, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, N, Q, L, and PATH trains at nearby 23rd Street, 14th Street-Union Square, or Herald Square stations) and bus routes serve the area, providing seamless connectivity. While street parking in Manhattan can be challenging, the overall convenience of reaching the hospital via public transit or a short walk makes it highly practical for appointments, especially for pets recovering from procedures. This ease of access ensures that specialized dental care is within reach for a wide range of New York pet owners.

Services Offered

Prism Veterinary Dentistry specializes exclusively in advanced dental and oral surgery services for pets. • Comprehensive Oral Examinations and Diagnostics: Thorough assessment of the entire oral cavity, often under sedation or anesthesia, utilizing advanced imaging like dental X-rays to identify issues beneath the gum line.
  • Professional Dental Cleanings: Advanced prophylactic dental cleanings under anesthesia, including scaling, polishing, and a full oral exam, going beyond what a general vet might offer for complex cases.
  • Feline Stomatitis Treatment: Specialized expertise in diagnosing and managing complex inflammatory conditions like feline stomatitis, as exemplified by Milo's case, which often requires full-mouth extractions.
  • Tooth Extractions: Performing simple and complex tooth extractions, including those due to periodontal disease, fractures, or tooth resorption, with meticulous surgical techniques and pain management.
  • Periodontal Disease Treatment: Advanced treatment for all stages of periodontal disease, including root planing, guided tissue regeneration, and other surgical interventions to save affected teeth or manage severe cases.
  • Oral Mass Biopsies and Tumor Removal: Diagnosis and surgical removal of masses or tumors found in the oral cavity, often involving advanced imaging and pathology.
  • Root Canal Therapy and Vital Pulpotomy: Specialized procedures aimed at saving damaged teeth, often as an alternative to extraction, preserving tooth structure and function.
  • Jaw Fracture Repair: Surgical repair of jaw fractures resulting from trauma or severe dental disease.
  • Orthodontics: Addressing malocclusions (misaligned bites) that cause pain or discomfort, which may involve selective extractions or other corrective procedures.
  • Anesthesiology Services: Critical to all dental procedures, they often have dedicated veterinary anesthesiologists or highly trained staff overseeing anesthesia, ensuring the highest level of safety for every patient, especially those with underlying health issues.
  • Advanced Pain Management: Comprehensive pre, intra, and post-operative pain management protocols to ensure pets are as comfortable as possible during and after procedures.
