River Cove Animal Hospital possesses several features and highlights that have historically made it a notable choice for pet owners in Williston, Vermont.
Experienced Veterinarians: Dr. Chu and Dr. English are specifically named by a long-term client, indicating that these veterinarians are recognized and held in "high regard and appreciation." This suggests a foundation of experienced and capable medical professionals. Such recognition often implies a history of effective treatment and a professional approach to veterinary care.
Long-Standing Community Presence: The review mentions that the family has "always brought our dog here," signifying that River Cove Animal Hospital has been a long-standing and established veterinary care provider for a significant period. This longevity often points to a reputable practice that has earned the trust of many local families over the years.

Customer Service and Communication Concerns: Recent feedback indicates a decline in customer service and communication, with an expressed frustration over ignored emails and unaddressed concerns. This points to a need for potential clients to prioritize clear communication channels and proactive follow-up regarding their pet's care plan.
Emphasis on Collaborative Care: The feedback highlights the importance clients place on "open communication and collaborative care," emphasizing that a lack thereof can negatively impact the pet. This suggests that while medical expertise may be present (as seen with appreciation for Dr. Chu and Dr. English), the client experience related to communication might need consideration.
Dietary Advice Concerns: One review expressed significant concern over specific dietary advice given, questioning the rationale behind recommending a particular commercial brand. River Cove Animal Hospital Reviews
We have always brought our dog here but unfortunately their customer service has gotten worse over the years. I recently emailed them regarding a concern I had after my last visit and tried to find a resolution and path forward. Instead they chose to ignore my email and not address the issue. Everyone wants to feel comfortable bringing their pet/family somewhere to be taken care of especially as they age and require specialized care. Similar to human medicine I feel that open communication and collaborative care is an essential component of animal medicine. When this line of communication no longer exists, it is not me or them that suffers, it’s my dog. I refuse to sit back and allow safety concerns that put my dog at risk to go unaddressed. As a result of this we have decided to use a different animal hospital. It is a shame and we feel a great sense of loss at having to move on from our veterinarians. We have and continue to hold high regard and appreciation for Dr. Chu and Dr. English.
May 10, 2025 · amyThe vet said we should feed our dog Purina because they have the money to research what should go into dog food. I don't think he considered they have an entire C-suite trying to figure out how cheap they can make their dog food formula. Baffling advice and a huge turn off.
Apr 14, 2025 · Kyle KepplerBrought my new fur baby there for the first time. My girlfriend has been bringing her fur babies here for years and had nothing but amazing things to say. I couldn't agree with her more. They made Minnie and I feel like family as soon as we walked through the door. No pressure. Incredibly friendly and stress free. Everyone clearly loves what they do there and it's completely about what's best for your pet. I cannot say enough good things about this place.
Jul 25, 2022 · John JeromeRiver Cove gave great care to my two Labradors over their entire lifetimes (one to age 12, one to age 15). The quality of care and advice has been excellent, as well as compassionate. The staff and vet techs are friendly and helpful..
Jun 28, 2024 · Karen LeFevreI know end of life decisions are not easy. I don't envy the ones administering the services at all. I thank you all for your roles in the speedy and supportive passing for my kitty today.
