St James Veterinary Medical Center Introduce
For pet owners and farmers in St James, Missouri, and the surrounding Phelps County area, **St James Veterinary Medical Center (STJVMC)** represents a critical local resource for comprehensive animal health care. Operating as a full-service medical center, the facility is equipped to handle a vast range of needs, from routine preventive care for companion animals to specialized medical and surgical procedures for **large animals**. This dual capability makes the clinic an indispensable asset to the diverse Missouri community, which relies on expert care for both family pets and agricultural livestock.
The practice is designed to provide a high standard of veterinary care with a focus on advanced techniques and client education. They are known for utilizing modern technology, such as **Companion Laser Therapy**, to accelerate healing and decrease pain for pets suffering from a variety of conditions. They also offer a comprehensive array of surgical services, including routine procedures, **soft tissue surgeries**, and **orthopedic surgery**, with the option to refer complex cases to **surgical specialists** to ensure the best possible outcome for every patient.
However, like all healthcare providers, experiences can vary. While many clients express deep trust and satisfaction, stating their pets are in "good hands" with "capable and caring vets, very helpful techs, and kind office staff," there have been highly reported incidents where clients felt the diagnostic services fell short of expectations, particularly in emergency trauma situations. The commitment to compassionate, high-quality care is the foundation of the center's mission, but potential clients should be aware of the importance of clear communication, especially during emergency or complex diagnostic procedures, and should proactively request access to diagnostic results like X-rays.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I really like and trust the STJ Veterinary Medical Center. I think my cat is in good hands there, with two capable and caring vets, very helpful techs, and kind office staff. Thanks for being somewhere I know I can trust my cat is getting great care. July 22 · A
- Took my dog in since he was hit by a FedEx truck. They informed me that he had no broken bones for the x-rays that they took. We started to leave with the dog and was informed that he should be OK by Monday. We took him to another vet and their x-rays showed that his pelvis was crushed. oh, by the way, when we were leaving, we were told that the x-rays were not available for us. Worst service I’ve ever had from a vet. I do not recommend this veterinarian and will be asking for a refund. They did not do their job. February 14 · Matthew Milton
- I brought my dog here after he had been hit by a fed ex truck. He was obviously in pain, but they waited until morning ti take x rays. I brought him in at around 2:30 / 3:00 pm and they did exrays around 8:00 the next morning. I honestly don't think they even looked at them because his pelvis was crushed and his bladder was herniated. They told us to put a towel under him and have him walk to the car. He couldn't feel his own back legs. He had no control of his bladder. I have yet to get their x rays. I brought him to sullivan veterinary hospital, and they immediately x rayed him and found the crushed pelvis, and we opted to put him down. He was in pain. DO NOT GO HERE. February 14 · Ella Milton
- We board both of our (crazy) puppies here and the staff is beyond wonderful. They’re patient and caring and always friendly in person and on the phone. They take great care of our dogs! When we go out of state or out of the country I don’t worry about them because I know they are taken care of and safe and that is priceless. February 28 · Tabbii Lynn
- I was very pleased with the service I received from this clinic. My puppy had a seizure, and we were very concerned. They got us in quick when they didn't have to since we were not clients. We will be bringing all our pets here from now on. July 17 · Robin Mcculley
