Doc Thompson is awesome. His staff are also a pleasure. We raise show lambs, and to date Tim is the only vet on the Frontrange and Eastern Colorado area who is up to date and extremely knowledgeable in the treatment and care of sheep. The other was the late Doc Hyde, who is missed by all. Dr Thompson fits the bill and I highly recommend for all my species needs ..he is also a very nice man.... - Christi Healey

Town & Country Veterinary Clinic, P.C. Introduce

In the vast agricultural landscape of Colorado, finding a veterinary clinic that is as skilled with a pet as it is with a herd is essential. Town & Country Veterinary Clinic, P.C. in Platteville is a true gem in this regard, serving as a trusted resource for pet owners and ranchers alike. This clinic, led by the highly-regarded "Doc Thompson," offers a unique blend of expertise and accessibility, making it a go-to for a wide range of veterinary needs. The clinic's reputation is built on a foundation of deep knowledge, particularly in the care of livestock, which is a critical service for the local community. For residents of Platteville and the surrounding areas, this clinic represents more than just a place for appointments; it is a vital partner in the health and well-being of their animals, big and small.

The clinic's standing in the community is solidified by the expertise of its veterinarians, most notably Dr. Tim Thompson. He is described in a review as "awesome" and "extremely knowledgeable," particularly in the specialized field of sheep care. This is a significant point of pride and a major draw for clients, as the reviewer highlights that he is one of the only vets in the Front Range and Eastern Colorado who is truly up-to-date on this specific area of animal husbandry. This specialization, combined with his a kind and professional demeanor—he is also described as a "very nice man"—makes him a highly respected figure. For those who raise show lambs or other livestock, having a vet who understands the nuances of their animals is not just convenient, but essential to their livelihood.

While the clinical and medical care receives universal praise, the customer experience at the front office has seen some changes, as noted in a recent review. A client mentioned that the "new staff in the office is rude at best" and that simple tasks like getting an appointment or paying a bill have become difficult. This feedback provides an important, factual perspective, showing that like any business, there can be fluctuations in service quality. However, it also offers a contrasting perspective that speaks to the high standard of care provided by the veterinary team itself. The review praises the clinical staff, noting that Dr. Thompson's team are a "pleasure" to work with. This distinction is valuable for potential clients, as it gives them a clear picture of what to expect: exceptional care from the medical team, and the potential for a less-than-ideal experience with the administrative side.

Despite the noted challenges with the new office staff, the core value proposition of Town & Country Veterinary Clinic remains its unparalleled veterinary expertise. The clinic's ability to provide comprehensive care for a variety of species, from family pets to show animals, is a testament to their versatility and dedication. For the agricultural community in particular, the clinic fills a critical need, carrying on a legacy of expertise that was a pillar of the local scene. The review that mentions the "late Doc Hyde" and how Dr. Thompson "fits the bill" shows that Town & Country is a successor to a tradition of excellence, a trusted institution for generations of farmers and ranchers.
