VCA Chatoak Animal Hospital Reviews
From the reception to the Veterinary Staff hands down exceptional service provided. Dr. Tostado was exceptionally caring and very honest.I took a one week old kitten that I found and was caring for in for emergency services. They helped keep me calm and kept me up to date with the entire care of the kitten. Unfortunately, my kitten didn’t make it but they made the process very easy and comforting. RIP Paquita the kitten.
April 29 · BL AlvarezVCA Chatoak Animal Hospital has been amazing every step of the way. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and truly cares about the well-being of your pets. They’ve always taken the time to answer my questions and make sure my pet feels safe and comfortable. The doctors are thorough and compassionate, and the facility is clean and well-organized. I’m so grateful to have such a reliable and caring veterinary team in Granada Hills. Highly recommend!
July 17 · Serdar Serge DagkesenI visited this hospital twice based on a strong recommendation from a colleague who spoke highly of their care. Unfortunately, both of my experiences were disappointing.During my first visit, I felt that the veterinarian lacked empathy and did not instill confidence in the care being provided. My pet was showing signs of an internal infection—symptoms I had been observing at home—but because they weren’t immediately visible, I had to advocate strongly to ensure my concerns were taken seriously. Eventually, we did receive the care we needed, but it took considerable persistence. My second visit was during emergency hours. My pet was admitted and returned after four hours, and I was told I would receive test results in 4–5 business days. However, no one followed up. I called three times over the next few days to ask for an update, but was never able to speak directly with a doctor. On the seventh day, I was informed the doctor was off, which I completely understand. What I don’t understand is why only one doctor appeared to be responsible for reviewing and communicating results—something I assumed any licensed vet on staff should be able to handle.Later that evening, the doctor did call and provided a thorough explanation of the test results. However, she also mentioned that the results had been available for four days. I appreciated the information, but the delay in communication was frustrating. The next day, I called the hospital to request my pet’s records so I could transfer to another clinic. The first three calls went unanswered, and when someone finally picked up on the fourth attempt, I was placed on hold for over 15 minutes before I eventually hung up. I ultimately had to message the doctor directly to request both the records and a prescription. It’s disheartening to feel that the urgency of my pet’s medical situation wasn’t treated as a priority. Although the hospital is conveniently located near my home, I’ve requested my pet’s records and won’t be returning. It’s disappointing to see a clinic with such potential fall short in areas as critical as communication and responsiveness.
July 11 · Karla MGAbsolutely Outstanding Care – Thank You, VCA Chat Oak!I cannot express how grateful I am to the team at VCA Chat Oak Animal Hospital. My Corgi was recently attacked by two other dogs and suffered a serious blood wound. As you can imagine, I was incredibly distressed, but from the moment we arrived, the entire staff made us feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for.Dr. Gouldburn took exceptional care of my dog. Her compassion, calm demeanor, and clear communication immediately put me at ease. It was obvious she truly cared—not just about treating the injury, but about how we were both coping with the trauma. What really stood out was how comfortable my Corgi felt with the staff. That isn’t always the case, especially after a traumatic experience, but something about the way they handled him—with gentleness and patience—made him feel safe and secure in their hands.A huge and heartfelt thank you to Fabian, Maribelle, and Stacia. You all went above and beyond to care not just for my dog, but for me as well. Your kindness and professionalism made one of the hardest days a little bit easier, and I’ll never forget that.If you’re looking for a place that treats your pet like family, VCA Chat Oak is it.
April 27 · Peter DahabrehWe’ve been coming here for 22 years and have been our vet for our 4 previous pugs. We had an initial visit for our newly adopted 10 year old pug. We had a 2pm appointment. We were running late. We received call at 2:05 to ask where we were. I said we were 8 minutes away. We arrived at 2:15.They said we’re too late and cannot be seen. I asked how long was each appointment for, and they said 40 minutes. So I said we’re here, let’s do a quick visit.I was told no, we can reschedule or leave our dog and he can be seen at the end of the day. I said no thank you.In 22 years, we have never been late. We have never complained when they make you wait.. sometimes more than half an hour.I guess it’s time to move on.Their service has declined since becoming at VCA.It’s all about how much they can charge now and how fast they can see clients. The quality of their vets have also declined.
