VCA Crocker Animal Hospital Reviews
I took my new adopted rescue dog to VCA since I received a complementary exam certificate. I knew that she had a skin condition and also was having diarrhea. I saw Dr. Choi and found her to be personable, caring, attentive, and patient with my dog. My dog had a fungal infection in her right ear. Dr. Choi prescribed an ear wash and eardrops. The ear wash medication would be used over the next multiple months, while the eardrops were to be used for the next 14 days. I’m a veteran dog owner so this wasn’t my first ear infection. When I open the package of the eardrops and shook the bottle, there wasn’t much medication in the bottle at all. It lasted 6.5 days. I called Thursday morning and informed them that there was not enough medication in the bottle and needed another bottle. I was told it would take one to two days to refill and that someone would call me. Called again Friday morning, and spoke to another person, who informed me that the pharmacist is filling prescriptions between patients and that you will probably receive a text on Monday. I did receive a text around noon on Monday. Due to my work schedule, I would be unable to pick up the medication until Thursday when I had my follow up visit that Dr. Choi asked me to schedule. I replied to the texted around midnight that Monday and informed them. I also requested a partial credit for medication price is based on dosage and duration. I received a reply saying no. I arrived for my follow up visit on Thursday, June 26th. One of the front office personnel informed me that they had the medication ready. I looked at them and said, I think it’s a little too late don’t you think. Infections in the ear are close to the brain and treatment should be consistent and ongoing for the best prognosis of the patient. You don’t start and stop medication that defeats the purpose. Yes, I was in a very upset mood for my dog did not have the medication she needed to help prevent the infection from spreading. Infections are usually treated for at least 10 to 14 days for the best prognosis of the patient. I spoke to Dr. Choi and explained to her about everything that happened and that I was upset. She did apologize. She also informed me that the medication comes from the manufacturer. Then why was I told that the pharmacist has to fill the prescription if it’s already filled and just needs to be taken off the shelf and given to the patient? Dr. Choi said she has never heard of any patients that have run into this problem that I did. Maybe it was bad QC on the manufacturers part. If the medication is already filled and boxed, front desk personnel could’ve gotten it from the shelf within one day turnaround. What if a dog had a heart condition or seizures? At the end of my follow up visit, Dr. Choi asked me if I wanted the manager to call me, I said that would be nice. I also found out that they were going to charge me another $57 for the medication that was unprofessionally filled the first time. Also, charging me for a follow up visit. Dr. Choi is the one who asked me to schedule a follow up visit so it would be something like suture removal, which would be for free. The coupon I have mentions, don’t worry, if you need a follow up visit it’s covered up to $250. When Dr. Choi left the exam room, one of the front desk personnel stuck her head in and told me that today’s visit would be at no charge. Then she just closed the door. Front desk personnel could definitely use some training regarding being on the same page along with customer Service. If clients get upset, you still have to smile and be polite. Everybody should know the same protocol for medication refills instead of getting different answers from different personnel. I also found it very strange that on the two days of my appointments, there were no other clients in the waiting room or cars in the parking lot. I’m looking for a new clinic to take my dog too. Ever since Parktown was sold, the new veterinarians and front desk personnel are not that personable or on the same page. It’s more like take a number and sit down.
Jun 29, 2025 · Michelle StaffordAbsolutely incredible customer service, from the receptionist to the technicians and the doctor. I couldn't be more pleased. I highly recommend this facility. They even have a separate waiting room for cats and dogs. I really appreciate the thorough care my cat and I received.
Jan 21, 2025 · Lorraine GabbertMy appointment was canceled because I didn’t confirm the day before, even though they left me a voicemail confirming it. I followed all the instructions they gave me, including sending my medical records and completing everything they requested. They even confirmed the appointment a week prior. When I arrived and found out it was canceled, I spoke with Wendy, the office manager, to explain that I should be seen since I followed their process. I worked all day yesterday unaware that I had to verbally confirm, especially since they confirmed the appointment a week before. If they had told me then that I’d need to confirm again the day before, I would have. The service here is disappointing, and my pet hasn’t even seen the vet yet. With such disorganization and lack of communication, I can see why they only have three stars. Save yourself the trouble and consider going elsewhere. Wendy, as the manager, here’s the review I told you I would write. Have a great day!
Nov 06, 2024 · Christine AquinoI recently adopted a cat, and VCA is in collaboration with PA's shelter that they give a complementary checkup for pets that are adopted. I took Sapphire here to get a checkup, and they gave me tips on how to better care for her. all the staff here were very passionate about animals, and that was so nice to see. We'll definitely be coming back here for her regularly checkups and vaccines !
Feb 17, 2020 · Elizabeth TI have taken my cats to VCA Crocker Animal Hospital since the 80's. Now I have a new senior cat and she recently needed some dental work. Both she and I are pleased with the results. I will always take my pets here.
