★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1‼️In short: Take your money somewhere else if you care about your animals. Treasured Pets is nearby and has plenty of clients who have vouched for their veterinarians.I wish I could leave this place 0 stars. I have never in my life written a review but I felt extremely obligated. Look how many bad reviews they have. I am so glad me and my family have never wasted a dollar here. This morning our kitten suffered from a very serious seizure. We immediately rushed him to the nearest veterinary hospital that was open. Upon walking in we were immediately told they didn't even have a single vet on site and the lady was very dismissive. So why are you guys even open??? The only person there was a front desk clerk who didn’t seem to show any compassion for our kitten who was literally with us seizing up and in pain. All I wanted was for my poor sweet baby to be put to sleep so he didn’t have to suffer. Instead he continued seizing in my arms for another 20 minutes as we panicked and rushed to a second location and inevitably died in my arms. I will never forget the heartbreak and pain this situation has left me with.
July 14 · emilyUpdate: one more disappointment for this vet. I received this today about my dogs heartworm medicine. We have been getting it from Chewys for years with the vet agreement like any other vet. Now vca will not let you get your pet medicine from anyone but them. THEY ARE A TERRIBLE VET AND ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY!Starting September 5, all prescriptions will be filled through our hospital or VCA Home Delivery. Our hospital will no longer verify prescriptions submitted by outside or online pharmacies—with the exception of compounding pharmacies for specific formulations. What a complete disappointment this vet has turned out to be after 12 years I have taking my dog there. He has been on the plan the entire 12 years he has been going there. When I took him today for the one shot he was due for and his annual checkup they informed me that the plan had been canceled because the payment did not go through. No one reached out to me by phone or by email to inform me that there was an issue. When I showed up today they wanted to charge me $263 for one shot and an annual checkup. I just got up and walked out. This place has truly gone down since Dr Chambless left. As customer service and Pet Care declines the prices continue to rise. Be advised and take your pet somewhere else.
August 29 · mark bNot usually one for reviews but I feel the need to let anyone that may be on the cusp of experiencing what we’ve experienced the past few months know to avoid this place. We have brought our dogs here since we bought our first baby 8 years ago. I would have recommended VCA to anyone back then. Dr Chambless was absolutely wonderful. Our babies loved him and so did we. There are a few techs/ front office staff here that treated our babies well which we absolutely appreciate. We lost Kali, our first baby to osteosarcoma December 22 of 2024 after diagnosis in November. We had to fight tooth and nail to get her in to see an oncologist, which we should have been referred to when cancer was first mentioned. The delay of treatment cost her time, time she didn’t have to waste. By the time Kali was seen by oncology and set up for chemo/surgery the cancer had spread all over her body. She fought so hard for us. She deserved to live. Her case was never something that should’ve been handled in VCA. When cancer was suspected, we should have been sent to a specialty clinic. We were offered an amputation from VCA with no further plan. They wanted to take her leg and be done with it- no oncology referral- no chemo- nothing. We weren’t okay with that. We weren’t taking Kali’s leg on a whim with absolutely zero information or a game plan. The oncology clinic was shocked to know that no referral was sent in for Kali as soon as her biopsy results came back. Seeing that osteosarcoma is such an aggressive/fast moving disease. As a family, this has been absolutely devastating. We made lots of phone calls and got a lot of second opinions on the situation regarding Kali. All leading to the conclusion that Kali was done a major disservice by this place. We trusted Dr. Shurtleff with one of our most precious possessions and it came back to bite us- hard. All of this to say, if you find yourself in a situation like this please trust your gut and get a second opinion. We were lost when it came to this cancer diagnosis. Please get to know your veterinarian, because you never know when something like this may happen. We truly believe if Dr. Chambless was still at this practice- that Kali would still be with us. Please do your research on who is caring for your babies and if something seems off, it probably is.
March 10 · Payton LunsfordI heard mixed reviews about VCA. from my neighbors. I probably would’ve never tried it because of that. It wasn’t until Dr. Shurtleff had moved over there that I decided to go. I think a rude and intolerant staff is just the norm in Forney, unfortunately. I can look past that most of the time, because they are not doing the exam. The prices are pretty high, but they are like that everywhere in Forney. It’s almost like they’re charging you for the convenience of not having to go to Dallas or elsewhere. Anyway, I do think Dr. Shurtleff is great, and I wish he was at his old practice. On the last visit, the receptionist told me I was rude because I handed her a paper that was a little bit cold because it was a cold day outside. I guess she thought I was trying to sabotage her and it simply was just not a good visit. Plus, when I told my husband how much the vet bill was, he couldn’t believe it. The practice bombards you with texts, emails, and cards trying to get your business. Perhaps if they took some of the fancy advertising away and just focused on genuine customer care, it might improve things.
April 12 · Ck JDon't waste your time. I have spent tens of thousands at this place for my animals, my brother and countless strays. I CAME HOME AND MY DOG WAS VOMITING AND POOPING EVERYWHERE so I called them and I was told they weren't am emergency clinic and I should go to an EMERGENCY CLINIC AND THIS IS AT 3:00PM. Funny when my brothers dog was shot and needed an emergency $ 3,000 amputation they were very helpful. VCA ruined that practice when they bought out the original owner.
