Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service Introduce
For many pet owners in Minnesota, the logistics of a traditional vet visit can be a source of stress—for both the human and the animal. Trying to get a nervous cat into a carrier, or managing an aging, large dog in and out of the car can be a challenge. Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service provides a perfect solution, bringing high-quality veterinary care directly to the comfort and familiarity of your home. This unique and convenient approach allows pets to receive the medical attention they need without the anxiety associated with travel or a clinic environment. It’s a service designed to make pet care simple, stress-free, and personalized for every animal.
Vetmobile is more than just a convenient service; it's a veterinary practice built on the principle of providing comprehensive care in a pet's most comfortable setting. Dr. Kraus, the veterinarian, offers a straightforward and expert approach to animal health. The service is particularly beneficial for senior pets, multi-pet households, and animals that experience extreme anxiety in clinical settings. The one-on-one attention a pet receives in their own home allows for a more thorough examination and a more relaxed experience. This personalized care model ensures that your pet's specific needs are met with a careful and compassionate eye, from routine wellness checks to more sensitive end-of-life care.
Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service is based out of 8543 County Rd 7 SE, Chatfield, MN 55923, USA. However, the true benefit of this service is its mobile nature. Instead of you traveling to a fixed location, the veterinary care comes to you, making it an incredibly accessible option for residents in Chatfield and the surrounding areas. The service is designed to remove the common barriers associated with traditional vet visits. While the physical address serves as a base of operations, the practice itself operates on the road, serving clients wherever they are located within its service area. The business also accommodates clients with a wheelchair-accessible parking lot at its physical location for any administrative needs.
To ensure a smooth and timely visit, appointments are recommended. This planning helps Dr. Kraus and the team manage their schedule efficiently, allowing them to dedicate ample time to each animal without feeling rushed. This focus on individual appointments ensures that your pet receives the undivided attention they deserve, which is a key advantage of a housecall service. This model eliminates long waits in a crowded waiting room, reducing stress for both you and your pet.

The unique features and highlights of Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service center on convenience, expertise, and a unique approach to patient care.
Key features and highlights include:
At-Home Care: The primary benefit is that the vet comes to you, eliminating the stress of travel and clinic visits for pets and their owners. This is particularly valuable for anxious or elderly animals.
Expert and Straightforward Approach: Dr. Kraus is noted for her expertise and clear communication style. As one reviewer mentioned, she is "very straightforward," which many clients appreciate when facing difficult decisions regarding their pet's health.
Compassionate End-of-Life Services: The service offers the ability for pets to pass away comfortably at home, surrounded by their family. This is a deeply personal and compassionate alternative to a clinical setting. One reviewer specifically noted being "very grateful our buddy could pass at home comfortably."
Specialized Services: The practice provides a range of specialized services, including hospice care, incontinence management, and mobile X-rays, which are not always available from other mobile vets.
Potential for Communication Style Differences: It is worth noting that while many clients appreciate the direct and factual communication style of Dr. Kraus, another reviewer found her tone to be "unfriendly." This highlights a personal preference, and it's recommended to have a preliminary phone call to ensure comfort with the communication style, especially for sensitive situations like euthanasia. This openness and honesty are crucial for making informed decisions.

By bringing the clinic to your doorstep, Vetmobile removes that stress entirely, allowing for a calmer, more accurate examination. This is a service that puts the pet’s emotional well-being first.
Furthermore, the practice's comprehensive service list means you don't have to sacrifice quality for convenience. From routine wellness checks and blood work to minor surgical procedures and X-rays, a wide range of needs can be met right at home. This holistic approach makes Vetmobile a true alternative to a brick-and-mortar clinic, not just a supplemental service.
Finally, for those facing the difficult decision of at-home euthanasia, the service provides a deeply compassionate option. Allowing a beloved pet to pass away in the familiar surroundings of their home, with their family by their side, is a gift that many pet owners cherish. While communication styles may vary for some, the core mission of providing a peaceful end for a pet is a testament to the practice's dedication to animal welfare. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Dr. Kraus came to our home for attend to our almost 16 year old dog. She was kind and very straightforward which I appreciate. Her extent of expertise was evident as she talked us through the entire process before she administered the meds as well as while they were beginning to take effect. She was very compassionate and we were very grateful our buddy could pass at home comfortably.
July 18 · Kyleen Johnson(This review is based on a short phone conversation. It is not a review of veterinary services.)I spoke to Dr. Kraus on the phone while looking for someone to provide at-home euthanasia for my cat. Unfortunately, I was confused and put off by her tone, which I found to be unfriendly to the point of feeling rude. I understand that she may have been busy or have a different communication style, but considering the nature of the situation I was surprised by the lack of delicacy or compassion in the way she spoke to me. Based on this call I wasn't comfortable with having Dr. Kraus be the one to come into my home and euthanize my pet. My family who overheard the call felt similarly as well.If you are looking for someone who will offer warmth and patience during the process of saying goodbye to your pet, Dr. Kraus may not be the best option for you. I recommend speaking to her on the phone first, and judging for yourself.
January 08 · Simon MarksCame for a euthanasia, was very glad to have this vet for our old heeler boy. Experienced, no nonsense approach, with all the compassion needed. So appreciated having her available.
November 13 · Shana PascoeMaking veterinary care easier...No need to worry about carriers and struggling to take your pets to the vet when the vet comes to your house. We have multiple pets at any given time. Currently our lot includes 5 cats and a dog. We like the ease of getting an appointment when we need one. There are no protests, and no panic from our pets (although we generally corral them into a small room before the vet arrives).Dr Kraus has taken care of our pets for >15 years and done well by all of them. She is willing to research and willing to refer for anything out of her capacity. Dr Kraus works with specialists in many areas as needed. We have been very happy with her no-nonsense approach and her genuine care for our furry kids. Please note: You will have to hold your pet during exams and vaccinations, so if you're not comfortable holding them still, a home visit may not be a good option for you.Keep in mind a home visit is a great choice when euthanasia is needed. Your pet can be put to sleep in the comfort of home rather than traumatized by a trip to the vet.
July 24 · Lynn FlickingerWhere to start. We recently lost our lab with cerebellar hypoplasia. Trips to vet offices were hard, as the excitement really sent her issues into overdrive. So a home visit vet was perfect. She developed seizures later, and then heart failure. Dr Kraus was very supportive all the way, and worked well with the specialists and with the only other vet in town that really had an interest in learning how to deal with her health issues. Learned later that lots of people put their dogs with these issues to sleep at a young age, so Dr Kraus was one of a few who read and got back on "here's where we are."Very blunt, no-nonsense manner. I kinda need that sometimes. She took great care of 5 of our dogs over the last 11 years.
